Common Questions and Answers about Ambien users

ambien

Avatar f tn Are you on any other medication presently except Ambien? There is lot of mixed reaction from the users of Zolpidem to help sleep, it has done wonders in few people while few are not satisfied with its use or the side effects of the drug and its dependence. Ambien is meant for short-term use and not for years. I would like to suggest you to consult a sleep doctor and discuss the other options for alternate drugs. Take care and share your thoughts.
Avatar f tn s not a day time med, I became very tired, groggy and sleepy. I am currently taking ambien 10mg every night for sleep. should I take another lexapro tonight? I can't take it before work? It is safe to take them both at the same time? Or start over tomorrow night? Im new to the anxity/depression meds............ so any thoughts, experiences to share would help me.
1568041 tn?1311615212 It can be very very tough to wean off ambien and still get the amount of sleep you need. The brain chemistry gets used to the ambien and stops producing its own natural chemicals. Gradually the same dose no longer works like it did in the past. In fact, I've heard that some long time users of ambien had to enter a rehab facility to get totally off of it.
Avatar f tn Lot of other users would tell you that. Most have been on medication for a decade or more. Long term users. That is when it would be a lot hard to wean off things. But you should do fine. If you just take it slowly. Can I ask are you going to replace it with something else? If you still get panic attacks that is.
Avatar f tn My mom took Ambien for a few months. She's off for about a month now. She's still exhibiting significant short term memory loss and cognitive confusion -- that look like early dementia. Has anyone has experience where they've seen these memory impacts go away or reduce after a while of being off the Ambein? Online I see postings of people who were on the Ambein for a few years, and still have the memory loss issues years afterward. I'm getting worried.
Avatar m tn From what Ive been told, Tylenol (Acetaminophen) is one of the worst things you can take when it comes to your liver. Im pretty sure the Rx drugs Ambien and Lunesta are both easier on the liver. The only downside of course being they are quite habit-forming.
1806721 tn?1554333407 Is there any danger to take Ambien together with Pravastatin? I really very desperately need to sleep through the night... Thanks so much for your help!
3079363 tn?1363273715 t sleep all night with the new Ambien, and the hydroxyzine that used to control the itching for 24 hours falls short by about 6 hours. I had not associated any of these new or worsening problems until I read her post. It makes me wonder if it's all related to drugs supplied by Express Scripts. I could be way off base though. Has anyone else experienced anything like this with them?
Avatar f tn d ask an expert. I have until this point been sporadically abusing fioricet (without codeine) and ambien (not usually at the same time as the fioricet.) I can go days or weeks without either and then go back to them. I know this is a problem and I am working on getting help for it. I had not taken the firoicet for a few months but got a script a week or so ago and took 4-8 pills a day (spread from morning to evening) for about six days then I stopped.
491910 tn?1209366193 then 30...and so on until its 5 then jump off. I have ambien, rozerem scripts myself but stopped the ambien and made it a once a week or less thing because it can be bad news. You might want to see if the Dr will switch you to say lunesta and see if you can use that while getting off ambien or when you tapered low enough to jump and switch. Good luck.
1168718 tn?1464983535 I looked this up when I first read your post, then forgot to answer. What a dummy. Anyway, it seems this med isn't available in the US, which is probably why you haven't gotten much feedback. But it turns out that chemically it's very similar to Lunesta, which many should be familiar with. This is a drug that's widely advertised and widely prescribed, leaving the impression that it's harmless. Ambien too.
Avatar n tn Hi, You are right in speaking of Ambien addiction but most of users are otherwise comfortable without showing a high dependence on it. This drug generally is used for a short-term therapy rather than long term thus not exposing someone for dependence. It is the usefulness of drug that some people tend to take it for longer periods and feel so that they cannot do without it.
Avatar m tn *wishing you a good nights rest friend* ps.. ambien although usually effective is a benzopine relative, can cause bizzare behavior that users often arent even aware of such as sleep eating, and people have been known to drive while on it without being aware until something happens like an accident that they were even behind the wheel. Id avoid these meds if at all possible or use only with extreem precaution anyways.
Avatar f tn How do you get through an Ambien withdrawl? I was taking up to 7 a day> shaking, sweating, nausea and my mind feels drunk. R there any non-addictive meds to help the detox?
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever been given ambien during pregnancy? I just started on it last night to help me sleep. Anyone have any negative effects? Should i be worried about my babies?
Avatar f tn I'm 16+2 my dr prescribed me ambien..I'm scared to take it as I've seen what it does to my mom...anyone not have bad side effects like sleep walking, sleep driving or hillucinating?
Avatar f tn I've looked up a lot about ambien during pregnancy and I haven't found anything saying you shouldn't take it or that it'll harm the baby. Has anyone spoken to their doctor about ambien? I've had ambien prescription for years and it's really hard for me to sleep. No I'm not addicted, I used to take it only once or twice a week. It wasn't an every day thing. But it gets sooooo hard for me to sleep some nights so I'm wondering if it's safe.
Avatar n tn r u sure it is the ambien? it could be a mixture? all 3 drugs aggravate depression and out of the 3 ambien is categorized as the least addictive of the three drugs u r taking.....i would talk to my doctor and find another alternative for sleep....taking these every night could get u into trouble..have u tried the natural sleep aids like melatonin, valerian, etc?
870200 tn?1240459551 Does anybody hae any comments about ambien? That stuff is crazy.... when I take it I find myself calling people and having intense conversations but the next day I can't remember anything. I can't even remember going to bed. But if I don't take it I can't fall asleep...
Avatar n tn While I was in the office, I forgot to ask whether this new drug could interact with the Ambien, so I stopped taking the Ambien until I could see my doctor again. About a month went by in which I did not use Ambien at all. During this time, the abdominal pains gradually lessened over a period of weeks, and eventually disappeared.
Avatar n tn Everyone keeps telling me you need rehab to get off ambien is this true?? I have been on it for 2 years on and off. I have trying to cut my dose. Can anyone give me the side effects of discontinuation ?
501205 tn?1227345442 I couldnt sleep last night and took an ambien for the first time in awhile and I have to say those are bad pills. I always thought they were okay for me but I made the mistake of taking one and not going to bed right away and I have no recollection of what I did for the last half hour before bed. I was just reading my post to Courtney and I cant even remember typing it -- let alone what it said.
Avatar f tn i have been using ambien for many years now. i used the ambien and it's generic form zolpidem. it has always work up until two months ago when apparently the pharmacy changed suppliers. i took the little round purle pill up until then and now i take a white oval one. This one does not seem to be working as well and the side effect just seem wierd Does anyone think that the new manufacturer product is inferior and has anyone experienced this?
1202033 tn?1273771354 So, i have a short script for ambien, to help with my sleeping problems and anxiety. Anyways, i was wondering, when i run out will i have to go through the withdraws again??? Anyone who knows more about this, please do share!!!!
