Ambien time release

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien time release

ambien

Avatar f tn Has anyone taken ambien or ambien cr while pregnant? If yes, how do you like it and does it keep you asleep throughout the night?
Avatar m tn Don't know what you're working on. Time release is slow release. When I managed health food stores the saying about time release was, expensive urine or bowel movements, since the body evacuates before the stuff comes out of the capsule.
Avatar n tn It is a little stronger than the 10mg Ambien, but it is also controlled release, so it is not only supposed to get you to sleep faster, but also allow you to stay asleep. You might find that simply changing to this formula would be helpful. Are you taking your Ambien on an empty stomach?
Avatar m tn Thanks for your comments. We talked about ambien extended release, but that stuff costs over $200 for 30, as opposed to about six bucks for 60 10mg tablets of the generic non-extended release. I wanted it but simply can't afford it. So I went back to the regular ambien - it doesn't last as long, but as you say is not as addictive. I can usually doze in and out after it wears off, so it is at least tolerable. My Dr.
Avatar m tn If you are being prescribed the regular ambien, NOT the extended-release form, you can cut the tablets with a pill cutter so as to more gradually taper off the ambien. I have had issues developing tolerance to ambien in the past; what my doctors have always done is to order a drug "holiday" —that is, a period of weeks or months off that medication so that the tolerance is reduced or eliminated.
1690584 tn?1340297472 I would definitely talk to your OB about the Ambien to determine if it is safe for you to continue taking. I know my cousin did have Ambien for a couple of nights when she was pregnant - however, she was in labor already, having a tough time of it and hadn't slept in a few nights, so her situation could be very different from yours since you are not as far along in your pregnancy as she was.
202665 tn?1248806733 I've had the same problem... there's a certain window of opportunity for the Ambien to take effect... and if you don't snatch it, then you can feel wired, but tired at the same time. you might want to have your doc prescribe the Ambien CR instead, it's a controlled release and I find that it works pretty well... Also, may want to try Lunesta, if the Ambien is no longer working for you... but those drugs are supposed to be for temporary use only...
Avatar f tn Hi Tooter... I'm so sorry to hear you are still struggling with pain and sleep. I am on day 28 today and I am struggling still also. Like I've said before, the vet prescribed my poor baby Chihuahua, a huge bottle of Hydrocodone 5 mg cough syrup, just sitting there on my kitchen counter. God how many times have I walked by it and just wanted to drink the whole thing down. But I don't. I know what you are going through Tooter. Believe me, I do.
Avatar n tn I seemed like most people to wake up after about 4 hours (even on the CR Ambien time release) but I could fall back asleep again. And again. And again. So I got some sleep. It did help. Most docs have no problem prescribing sleeping meds for hep patients - they know how difficult it can be.
Avatar m tn I just finished a long drawn out taper but have tremendous sleep problems that is affecting my life worse than when I had a benzo and hydro addiction. A Dr. recommended Ambien but it is any way related to a benzo it is a no go with me. Any suggestions on the insomnia issues would be appreciated. I can fall asleep but a couple hours later it's over. I feel like I'm losing my mind....
Avatar m tn I understand your reservations about taking an antidepressant for a different purpose, and I would like to present some information to you that might help you understand why your doctor might have chosen this medication for this purpose. Trazodone is under a large umbrella of medications called Psychotropic.
206807 tn?1331936184 I took the regular Ambien and did the sleep walking thing too... and eating! One night I put the dog out.... poor thing! The next morning I thought I had dreamed it until I couldn't find her to put her out. Now I'm taking the Ambien CR and haven't had that problem... I think it is because it is slow release, so there isn't as much in your blood stream at one time. For me to be able to sleep for more than 3 hours a night, it is worth taking the chance. Insomnia is hell!!!!!!!!!!
1323549 tn?1276178147 As you get older I've discovered that it sometimes is more difficult to get to sleep and you sure DON'T sleep as much as before. I'm lucky to sleep past 6 hours. I used to sleep for 10 or more hours. LOVED to sleep. I take Ambien CR which is Ambien's continue release meds and they are not suppossed to be as dependent as the Ambien is. I've taken both and prefer the Ambien CR. Good luck.....
Avatar n tn Ambien CR does come in 12.5 mg -- I have some. the regular ambien does not, but ambien CR does. just clarification.
Avatar f tn i am 18 years old, 5'6'', 123 lbs, and i am in the habit of taking 4-5 12.5 mg ambien cr a night. even when i take four, i don't really feel anything, so i take around 5 benadryl capsules to get at least drowsy. i'm also taking 100mg of zoloft, and 300 mg of welbutrin for my depression and anxiety. i don't know what to do. about a week and a half ago i went two days without it, and then i just couldn't handle it.
Avatar m tn The sleeplessness was the worste for me as well, I tried several medications to help me sleep but the fact of the matter is the first 4 days nothing is really going to help, After that trazodone and nyquill became my best friends, Hang in there it will help find some friends to talk to through the night to keep your mind off it as much as possible, Ive been right where you are to many times to count but it will get better keep the faith and find some support in the mean time we are here to h
Avatar n tn s also all-natural and has several things in it, including melatonin and Valerian Root and Passion Flower and some others. I like it much better than Ambien. It takes time for sleep to be restored after detoxing off narcotics. In the meantime, try what I mentioned. Also a warm bath before bed and making your room very pleasant and quiet will help a bit. And some exercise during the day (but not before bed) should bring about better sleep.
1564517 tn?1314346323 In the meantime, follow good sleep hygiene measures like going to bed at the same time, waking up at the same time, avoidance of alcohol, smoking and caffeinated beverages. Maintain warm, comfortable bedroom environment and engage in relaxing activities like a warm bath before bed time. This will promote sleep. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar f tn t said if he is taking Ambien or Ambien CR. The Ambien CR helped me MUCH more than the regular Ambien. Of course I never slept the whole night through but a few hours then I'd wake up about 2 but I was able to go back to sleep usually even if it was several times a night. Good luck, I've never been much of a good sleeper but if it gets that bad I would seek out a sleep clinic doctor place - he could have sleep apnea or something that is compounding the situation.
Avatar n tn I was on Sub too and they gave me ambien to take with it. they just said no matter what dont drink alcohol with the Ambien.
Avatar m tn I think that you are asking for something that is not plausible. 90mg is a pretty high dose. I know that a lot of people say that they take higher doses than that. Some do. The max that is approved by the FDA for treatment of ADD is 30mg. Of course, doctors can prescribe more but they usually won't. Unless you've been with them a long time you work up to it. A doctor might be more receptive to giving you more if you weren't on Ambien too.
Avatar m tn I have Parkinsons and sleep from about 11pm to 2 am and am unable to get back to sleep. I did try xanax about for four days in a row. I woke at 2 a.m., took a .25mg each time and it put me back to sleep from 3 to 7. Worked perfect but I hear they're addictive. Klonopin is also in the benzo class and I worry it may be too strong. Trazodone is an anti-depressent and I've read scary stuff regarding that.
Avatar n tn Yes, I have tried ambien, and ambien CR, and had to discontinue/stop it due to having long laps of forgetfulness. Not good! I tried Lunesta, and it is ok, however, my insurance won't pay for it, and I can't afford it. SO the doc thought this Klonopin would do the trick, but I didn't expect tears. Maybe it is relaxing me enough to release tears for all the high stress I am going thru!!! didn't think of that until reading all of the above.
Avatar f tn Hey, regular ambien effects last right around 4 hr. max and ambien cr which is controlled release is 8 hrs..the ambien, chemical name is Zolpidem, which is considered a "z" class sedative/hypnotic and is pretty potent can cause all the side effects- the memory loss, problems concentrating and especially daytime drowsiness is definitely a common problem...the usual starting dose for ambien is typically 5 mgs to 10mgs for either wd'ing detoxing and usually is prescribed for insomnia.
Avatar m tn So my psychiatrist changed it. The Ambien also had an effect on me. You could ask your doc about slow release medication. That way you don't have to take so many.
Avatar f tn Kudos on your clean time. I'm clean 15 days. I too have sleep problems. I've always had sleep problems, but after WDs from vikes I REALLY have sleep trouble. I have a script for Ambien. It's the lesser of the two evils and easy to use as prescribed. I take a melatonin and 1/2 of a 10mg ambien (I use pill cutter) I then quarter the other half. I wake up to go to the bathroom about 4 hours later and take another quarter. So far so good.
