Ambien tablets

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien tablets

ambien

Avatar m tn If you are being prescribed the regular ambien, NOT the extended-release form, you can cut the tablets with a pill cutter so as to more gradually taper off the ambien. I have had issues developing tolerance to ambien in the past; what my doctors have always done is to order a drug "holiday" —that is, a period of weeks or months off that medication so that the tolerance is reduced or eliminated.
Avatar f tn I was previously on Ambien. I actually quit taking that and now use Unisom sleep tablets and they work very well. My OB assured me that Ambien was okay, but I figured I would try over the counter first and it works great for me. Can't help you on the other. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info. I don't think I'll get over the anger or mood swings until I get off of ambien. I'm 29 days off of hydrocodone. I think ambien has the same side effects as hydrocodone. I just want to be drug free!!!
Avatar m tn I have been taking Ambien for sleep for about a month. I take 17.5mg (one whole tablet, and 3/4 of another) because I had to increase my dosage several times, and I upped it by 1/4 tablet each time. I didn't quite make it to two tablets before I got to the point where I don't need it, but am basically addicted to it. The condition requiring this is slowly fading, and I would like to eliminate my dependence on Ambien completely. How do I go about doing this?
Avatar n tn I have been taking ambien for over 5 years and I can't stop taking it. It really helps me sleep each night so I don't want to stop. I just don't want this to damage my memory or any other part of my body long-term. Any suggestions to try to get me to stop taking it?
Avatar m tn I took tablets vepridone and ambien 2 months ago, doctors saved my life but now I am having shaky hands, I can't write and I feel extremely uncomfortable all the time. My question is, Is it due to drug withdrawl or it can get permanent side affect. What should I do now? Doctors also gave resperidone and a sleeping tablet for 2 weeks after treatment I was fine while I was using these tablets.
Avatar n tn which are written on the subject, and the association, or side effect of short term memory loss, while using, and apparently even after discontinuing Ambien CR 12.5 tablets! I've been taking Ambien 12.5 MG tablets, or its generic brother, " ZOLPIDEM TARTRATE 12.5 MG SA Tab" for a couple of years, for two problems; which are difficulty sleeping, primarily because of pain associated with my spinal cord injury, and likely anxiety.
Avatar f tn thanks for all your help, i am not taking the sleeping tablet anymore, i spoke with my sis in law she is a doc, she told me that i had only been on them a short time so there would be no withdrawels, i slept pretty bad last night but not as bad as i thought i would, i am more angry with the doc for putting me in the situation, i am a nurse but we dont use these tablets where i work,so i had no prior knowledge to them i stupidly assumed because the doctor was giving them to me and he never mentio
763205 tn?1234422576 How many pills did you take after going back and counting the tablets? It's not uncommon for people who take ambien or Ambien Cr to not remember doing something. They fall asleep and don't know they're sleeping, so the end up taking more pills because they don't remember taking the 1st one and the cycle keeps on going. I've heard horror stories of people racking up credit cards, diving and cooking while on Ambien.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I need to be awake and all systems firing for that day and after a long conversation about whether I could not go, or may be fly instead of coaching it, he gave a prescription for Zolpidem sleeping tablets 5mg. I have a tendency to wake up in the middle of the night and lie in bed with leg and arm pain a bit like flu but with out the fever for several hours. The idea of the sleeping tablet is to give me a full nights sleep, so I am brighter the next day.
Avatar m tn My dr. told me to take unisom tablets for insomnia & it has worked like a charm for me. I bought walmart brand called equate nighttime sleep aid. Give it a try & youll be asleep in no time. Dont get the gelcaps, they have a diff ingredient..
Avatar n tn I have been taking ativan (1mg) twice a day for the anxiety and Ambien for sleep. I have four kids and work. Any advice on how to overcome the two issues?
Avatar f tn I am 66 days clean off of oxy's. Here's the new problem. Since I couldn't sleep for 2 months before withdrawals, and now couldnt sleep going thru withdrawals, I asked the doctor for some kind of sleeping med. he put me on AMBIEN 10 mg's. I took it for about 2 weeks, but only cutting them in half so I was taking 5mg's a night so I could get " some sleep". Didn't want to become addicted.
Avatar m tn I've been having trouble sleeping the last few months and at my recent physical, my doctor prescribed Trazadone. I took it a couple nights and couldn't get out of bed and then felt groggy and unmotivated the rest of the day. Doing some research I found out, after the fact, that this was initially an anti-depressant. Quite frankly, I don't like the idea of taking something that was formulated for a psychological condition which I don't have. Long story short, I trashed the pills.
Avatar m tn I've been taking ambien for about two months. I started at 10mg and slowly worked up to 17.5 mg (1 3/4 tablets). When I take it, I'm out like a light in about 15 minutes, and sleep soundly for about 5 hours, and then doze in and out for a few more hours. I saw the sleep study doctor yesterday, and he gave me a prescription for temazepam, 15mg, and said I could take one or two at night. He said it should give me 6-8 hours of sleep. Last night I took 15mg, and did not sleep well at all.
Avatar f tn m tapering off of Percs (I was on 7 and now down to 2 1/2) and I see people mention other medications (like ambien) while actually going thru the withdrawal. Since I won't have medical coverage after end of month and I am moving cross country, this will be my last visit to the doctor. Any advice on anything that is important they wished they had thru the withdrawal period? Or is there something for the restless leg syndrome? Thanks everyone!!
Avatar m tn When you say up to 7 Ambien--do you mean the 10 mg. tablets? I take between 1/2 and 1 each night. I need them to sleep, and I am starting to get concerned, but I am on a major taper from Opana ER (I am at a point where I have to wait for my NP to prescribe the next lowest dose to make more progress!). But, this is a major deal in my life and I can't do both things at once, unless there is a way to try to sleep without Ambien....and if it doesn't work, then take the Ambien.
486647 tn?1208785691 Ok I'll be as brief as possible. Been on Ambien (or stilnox as it's known here) for nearly 7 years, I'm up to 100-120 mg a day, since end of last year been waking up in jolts of panic, shaking thru the day with butterflies. Can't eat hardly, feel sick all the time. Last august was in and out of the ER and had tests done for gastric upset all tests were normal then I found out ambien can cause gastric upset.

2203249 tn?1338990446 Dizziness; drowsiness (including daytime drowsiness); "drugged" feeling; dry mouth; headache; muscle aches; nausea; nose or throat irritation; sluggishness; stomach upset; weakness.
Avatar m tn I can tell you from experience, both Ambien and Ambien CR are notorious for causing odd behavior. I had to quit taking Ambien CR after it stated causing anxiety and pacin attack issues. Regular Ambien caused my husband to rise an hour after going to sleep and go down to our garage and work on his bike until 3:30 AM, when I realized he wasn't in bed and found him downstairs asleep.
Avatar f tn Im 31w and my dr recently prescribed me Ambien. When I went to pick it up the pharmacist was shocked and in disbelief that my doc would precribe me thi knowing I was pregnant. I really feel I need the help but dont want to harm my baby. I am assuming that the doctor wouldnt give me anything that would put my baby at risk. Has anyone else taken this drug while pregnant? How did it work for you?
Avatar f tn it wore off for me after a while and i do not have the drowsiness anymore...ambien comes in 5 mg and 10 mg tablets..I break a 5 mg in half and get the same effect as a whole one...
Avatar f tn Hello again everyone! Boy it has been a very long day for me. I woke up yesterday morning a little after seven a.m. and have been awake since...unable to sleep. I have been off the Oxy's for almost a full well but ran out of my Ambien on Saturday. I am thinking the new insomnia has more to do with the Ambien than the Oxy's. I was taking 1 sometimes 2 Ambien a night to fall asleep....
Avatar f tn I take Ambien, 1/2 pill at night and the other 1/2 when I wake in the middle of the night. I was on Ambien before the pregnancy because I have suffered from insomnia for years, I discussed the sleep issue with my OB-Gyn once I discovered I was pregnant and she told me it was OK to stay on Ambien because it's class B. I do feel guilty about taking it though but I don't know how I would do to sleep if I were to take nothing.
