Tinnitus is known adverse effect due to ambien. 60 % of tinnitus due zolpidem is seen within a month of its use. Around 50 % patients can have severe tinnitus. Other associated symptoms are Labyrinthitis and vertigo.
You need to get an examination done from an ENT specialist and get other causes of tinnitus ruled out.

When I was on Zoloft I became VERY energetic (prehaps even slightly manic) when I first started to take the medication and had trouble sleeping. This lasted a few weeks. I need help badly as I have had a roaring pressing in my ears for 2 weeks and ent and md said tinnitus. They gave little hope to ease symptoms. For all those out there who have had post lumbar puncture headaches and other symptoms and side effects that comes with it, have your headaches ever gone past 3 months and have they completely gone away? Same with the nausea and tinnitus...those who have experienced these symptoms beyond 3 months, have they ever gone away for you? I'm just afraid that all these symptoms are here to stay and I can't imagine living the rest of my life with them!
Is this a result of Xanax withdrawal, Ambien side-effects or sleep deprivation? It seems worse than anything I experienced during previous episodes of weaning off Xanax. I didn't have to go to work while doing this before so maybe that alters my perception somewhat. At this point I don't know whether to continue with the Ambien a little longer to see if things improve. (I've already experienced performing actions which I don't remember under it's influence.
thanks for you response. I didn't really feel anything but then again I'm not sure. I did fill it again and started yesterday. I guess I always thought I was taking too much meds. I have 2 dif meds for diabetes and I also take ambien at night to sleep. I have a hard time sleeping through. I just thought if I eliminated one med it would be that much less. I think I was wrong because I was in tears yesterday and at the store while I was in line picking up the celexa.
I just looked up all of the side effects of Pegasys, Ribavirin and Incivek and none of them lists tinnitis as a side effect. However, I also have worsening tinnitis. I am on Wellbutrin and Wellbutrin can cause tinnitis. I had the tinnitis (from the Wellbutrin) before starting triple med treatment. However, the tinnitis has definitely worsened since I have been on the triple med treatement (only 2 weeks).

Hi I am on day 4 of a prednisone taper for sudden low frequency hearing loss and tinnitus. I am concerned about side hearing loss, and side effects of medication. I thought prednisone increased energy, I am exhausted. My tinnitus keeps changing ears and volumes. About two weeks ago I attended 2 concerts a couple of days apart. After that my ears felt normal for a week. A little over a week after the concert my tinnitus got louder. It seemed to go up slowly but noticeably over the week. I also take Viagra (about a week after the concert) and have had bronchitis recently. I know Viagra sometimes causes side effects in the head, I've had a stuffy head and bad taste in my mouth after taking Viagra in the past.
