Ambien kick in

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien kick in

ambien

Avatar f tn It takes about 6-8 weeks for them to fully kick in, but the side effects kick in right away -- ironic, eh? But the true but unfortunate answer to your question is that antidepressants can be stimulating to a given person as they are truly developed as antidepressants, not as anti-anxiety meds. They just happen to often work for that too but sometimes a particular med doesn't set well. Keep an eye on it.
Avatar m tn Hmmm if you cut on July 4th and the insomnia didnt kick in for 4 days later thats strange. My experience is I had the insomnia for the first two nights and then it got increasingly better. maybe you were just having a bd night. I dont know what to tell you either. Ambien is pretty strong. I hope you sleep tonight.
Avatar n tn Ambien will help you get some sleep so yes I would say it is good. I worked for a Dr. before and the highest dose I saw given was a total of 12mg. So if the tab was 6mg then the patient could take 2. Taking 2 10mg of ambien seems a little high to me.Maybe someone else could answer better than me. I am one of those people that ambien doesn't work. I have tried Ambien cr, Lunesta (sp?) and regular Ambien and still couldn't get any sleep.
Avatar n tn i have a chemically induced daze, little fatigue , muscle aches amd slight insomnia and melatonin doesnt seem to kick in , so i tale a little Ativan and it helps a little.
Avatar n tn Please help!! My husband has taken 40 10 mg ambien in a 7 day period! He wants to stop. When he takes them he forgets, he gets angry, and has no memory of things he has done! Should he just quit cold turkey?
Avatar n tn Please look up the side effects of ambien, they are rediculous. Try a natural sleep aid like melatonin. It takes 3 to 4 weeks for meds to kick in, after that keep trying until you find one that works....I've been on at least 6! On wellbutrin now and it seems to be working. You just have to judge if the bad side effects outweigh any other help. Prozac worked but then gave me a full body rash....no thanks...but then that one could work for you, you never know.
Avatar f tn You would take this in lieu of the ambien. You may need to ween off the ambien a bit at first. Insomnia has always been the greatest issue for me as well with anxiety/depresssion and Trazadone has been the solution. Good luck.
Avatar n tn You just have resign yourself that sleep will not be good for a few nights, but it will kick back in. Hope this helps. You may want to ask your Dr. about weaning. I never did that, but that may be easier on your sleep cycle. Good luck.
Avatar f tn m now off of both, but much to my surprise, the vicodin was much easier than the ambien for me to kick. I kicked vicodin cold turkey in February and started an ambien taper mid-march. I just finished with the ambien taper. Ambien can't be stopped suddenly; depending on for how long and how much ambien you've used. It requires medical supervision to taper from to avoid permanent CNS damage. Learn as much as you can about it. Wish you the best!
Avatar m tn I have started to take two pills instead of one (so 20mg a night), avoiding eating after dinner just because the ambien will work better, and a couple weeks ago I got so desperate for the feeling I blew it. I get the urge to do that when I do not feel it starting to kick in- most likely because I have eaten since dinner. I have only done that a handful of times, but I know it is very bad news. I knew the first time I did it I was crossing a serious line.
Avatar f tn Thank you for the encouragement! No I do not know about PM's. After the fentnyal is gone and I start to get red of the ambien, Its not so much wds as not sleeping. I already don't sleep well with the ambien. I have found that I have to sleep or my depression kicks in and that brings on even more problems. I just have to be able to sleep. Yes, I would appreciate more advice on the patches please....
Avatar f tn all, that makes THE difference for me. I did take a low dose Ambien that I got from the dr the last time I was w/d. I have usually had to take diphenhydramine since forever to get sleep so I don't think I'll get hooked on the Ambien. It doesn't hug me like Oxy did. Anyway, I think I didn't kick last night, but I am typing this from my bed before getting up, so if I get up and see that the hubs has a fat lip or black eye, we'll know the RLS Ninja has returned.
Avatar m tn Okay, here I go again on my "Anti-Ambien" kick. Even though the commercials and many doctors tell you that they are non-narcotic, etc,, they are so very dangerous. Please, please, please only take them as directed and when prescribed by YOUR doctor. I quickly became addicted to them and had a 2 year run with them and they almost caused me to kill myself on more than one occasion. I have been clean from them since January 3, 2008 and I don't ever want to go through that again.
Avatar n tn If you are taking ambien too constantly, then your brain simply cannot sleep without it. With it, it sleeps like normal brain without ambien, which means that it could be addiction.Try not taking it for a week and then take 10mgs and see what happen.
Avatar f tn I just had moderate riba sleep disturbance on TX, worse for the couple months after EOT. He really needs to sleep. He can try taking up to 200 mg of benedryl. Also there's Lunesta, which is comparable to Ambien. If he's doing Ambien, the Ambien CR is better for keeping you asleep; it's formulated to release throughout the night instead of wearing off a few hours later. Also look at the dose.
1428440 tn?1287390379 Hyzaar (BP med) lasix, trazadone, ambien, phernagan, cipro, pyridium, naproxan, tylenol, bactrim, potassium choride, lunesta, suboxone. Does anyone know if one or a combination of them could cause a positive drug test for Benzo's. I swear I have taken nothing that should contain a benzo. I have been crying and upset wondering what I am to do if I get kicked out of the suboxone program. I had another drug test the next day at my therapist office and it also was positive.
Avatar f tn I am hoping I could get help i have no reason to be or any excuses but I am addicted to vicodin or percocet and ambien at times i don't know what to do or where to turn i am embarassed to say i have a job where i can get my hands on them often i am ashamed and afraid what am i going to do??
Avatar f tn Aw thanks! I feel really good about it, until night comes! Do you think it could be weeks or would you say more like days until normal sleep? Just trying to get a grasp and mentally prepare myself. Remember I only used for a short period.
Avatar m tn I started taking it and slept normally for the first time in decades. (It takes a couple of months to kick in completely, but improvement is immediate.) Try about 3 drops of 5 per cent Lugol's solution a week (one drop on Monday, one on Wednesday, and one on Friday). That is a normal supplement dose for someone of your weight. If you sleep better then you won't need drugs to help you. If it doesn't work, then you have done yourself no harm.
Avatar m tn I get it, i really do. Just know the truth shall set you free! Glad to here you have the mindset, but when the wd's kick in its so hard to beat knowing the pills are right at your disposal. I did it, your way too, but yes i did relapses after 40 days, then i came clean to my hubby and did it again and clean today, so i do believe you can do it, just stick to it.
Avatar f tn I got a "kick" out of that one too. Laughter is good for the soul.
Avatar f tn must have a long half life...i would not take it late at night if u r working the next day...it doesnt kick in like a big kick...take it early at first and see how u do with it...i always start at a lower dose on the first time i try something....
Avatar m tn I got information from this site and shared it with him and he was completely supportive. I have taken ambien at night, without that recovery time It would be to rough. thanks to : My freinds and all.
Avatar f tn Is opiate withdrawal going to kick back in? I feel really good other than some anxiety, which I know tends to linger. I have a few Valium for that tho.(I don't really enjoy this kind of med so I am not worried about getting addicted to the Valium) in fact I have experimented with almost everything and nothing ever got "ahold" of me before. Its embarrassing, expensive and I just want out!
486647 tn?1208785691 Ok I'll be as brief as possible. Been on Ambien (or stilnox as it's known here) for nearly 7 years, I'm up to 100-120 mg a day, since end of last year been waking up in jolts of panic, shaking thru the day with butterflies. Can't eat hardly, feel sick all the time. Last august was in and out of the ER and had tests done for gastric upset all tests were normal then I found out ambien can cause gastric upset.
