Ambien cr type of controlled release

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien cr type of controlled release

ambien

Avatar n tn It is a little stronger than the 10mg Ambien, but it is also controlled release, so it is not only supposed to get you to sleep faster, but also allow you to stay asleep. You might find that simply changing to this formula would be helpful. Are you taking your Ambien on an empty stomach?
Avatar n tn Ambien CR does come in 12.5 mg -- I have some. the regular ambien does not, but ambien CR does. just clarification.
202665 tn?1248806733 I've had the same problem... there's a certain window of opportunity for the Ambien to take effect... and if you don't snatch it, then you can feel wired, but tired at the same time. you might want to have your doc prescribe the Ambien CR instead, it's a controlled release and I find that it works pretty well... Also, may want to try Lunesta, if the Ambien is no longer working for you... but those drugs are supposed to be for temporary use only...
1690584 tn?1340297472 I would definitely talk to your OB about the Ambien to determine if it is safe for you to continue taking. I know my cousin did have Ambien for a couple of nights when she was pregnant - however, she was in labor already, having a tough time of it and hadn't slept in a few nights, so her situation could be very different from yours since you are not as far along in your pregnancy as she was.

Avatar f tn Has anyone taken ambien or ambien cr while pregnant? If yes, how do you like it and does it keep you asleep throughout the night?
649598 tn?1239117215 I actually started taking the Effexor to treat depression and found that after a few days of treatment, I was sleeping like a rock. I made the switch to Ambien CR because the IR version is not cited for long term use. The Cymbalta I take is also for depression, and the Klonopin was later added to control anxiety throughout the day, but it does help me fall asleep at night when I take it WITH the Ambien CR.
206807 tn?1331936184 I took the regular Ambien and did the sleep walking thing too... and eating! One night I put the dog out.... poor thing! The next morning I thought I had dreamed it until I couldn't find her to put her out. Now I'm taking the Ambien CR and haven't had that problem... I think it is because it is slow release, so there isn't as much in your blood stream at one time. For me to be able to sleep for more than 3 hours a night, it is worth taking the chance. Insomnia is hell!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar m tn i have been on clonazepam for many months and ambien cr i am having problems with thinking straight, and i believe it is the clonazepam not the ambien cr.
Avatar f tn t said if he is taking Ambien or Ambien CR. The Ambien CR helped me MUCH more than the regular Ambien. Of course I never slept the whole night through but a few hours then I'd wake up about 2 but I was able to go back to sleep usually even if it was several times a night. Good luck, I've never been much of a good sleeper but if it gets that bad I would seek out a sleep clinic doctor place - he could have sleep apnea or something that is compounding the situation.
Avatar f tn Hey, regular ambien effects last right around 4 hr. max and ambien cr which is controlled release is 8 hrs..the ambien, chemical name is Zolpidem, which is considered a "z" class sedative/hypnotic and is pretty potent can cause all the side effects- the memory loss, problems concentrating and especially daytime drowsiness is definitely a common problem...the usual starting dose for ambien is typically 5 mgs to 10mgs for either wd'ing detoxing and usually is prescribed for insomnia.
Avatar n tn I seemed like most people to wake up after about 4 hours (even on the CR Ambien time release) but I could fall back asleep again. And again. And again. So I got some sleep. It did help. Most docs have no problem prescribing sleeping meds for hep patients - they know how difficult it can be.
763205 tn?1234422576 I have been taking Ambien/Ambien CR for several years now. I switched from the regular Ambien when the Ambien CR became available. Two nights ago I took my nightly migraine medications and my Ambien CR. I remember being awake for about 45 mins after that and then I remember nothing. Some how I was unconscience when I took 8 more Ambien CR 12.5 mg. I remember nothing after that. I went on a wild rampage in my room and destroyed everything in sight and I do mean everything.
Avatar f tn Because I would take so many of the Ambien I had to take 6 of the 10mg, 5 of the 30mg Restoril, and 5 3mg of Lunesta. I literally cannot sleep without the ambein. I went to a sleep clinic and they had my Internist cancel of my prescriptions. Please give me some advice!!
Avatar f tn Then a visit to my PCP for the Orthostatic Hypotension and he told me to go off those two drugs and gave me a script of 3 days with 1 refill of Ambien CR to see how I would react to that. After the 3 nights I started sleeping 18 to 20 hours of a 24 hr. period plus felt completely out of it. A call back to him and he said he just didn't know why I was doing that and suggested I should talk to my psyche about it which he was supposed to have done.
Avatar f tn I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
783281 tn?1259691431 the ambien CR can also cause the groggy feeling in the most because of its two part release... if you dont like this i would ask the doctor for regular ambien either 5mg or 10mg. its the only sleep aid that works well for me. helps me sleep and aside from the fact that im always fatigued because of other problems, i never have that hang over feeling from it. im not a doctor, but it is just a suggestion because i have had experience with both the traz and the CR.
1102799 tn?1269237714 Fairly soon my Ob-gyn switched me to Ambien CR 12 mg and this worked quite well (1/2 at night and 1/2 in the middle of the night) - I definitively prefer Ambien CR to regular Ambien. PS: be careful if you try to switch to Lunesta, a friend of mine did that and he started to sleepwalk!!
424675 tn?1260541350 The relief doesnt last long at all. When I take the controlled release it lasts for a good 6 to 8 hours. My meds are 30mg pills of the controlled release hydro. I halved all I had left and now I have 4 halves. Im gonna keep spacing them as far as I can, trying to go past 24 hours this time. Almost there 5pm will be 24. after I run out i'll be going without any. I hope that I dont have too bad of wds after going ct. Because I have really felt bad the last few days.
Avatar f tn i am 18 years old, 5'6'', 123 lbs, and i am in the habit of taking 4-5 12.5 mg ambien cr a night. even when i take four, i don't really feel anything, so i take around 5 benadryl capsules to get at least drowsy. i'm also taking 100mg of zoloft, and 300 mg of welbutrin for my depression and anxiety. i don't know what to do. about a week and a half ago i went two days without it, and then i just couldn't handle it.
323551 tn?1255174750 anything u choose to sleep with..even tylenol pm can be psychologically habitforming...if u r using 5-10 mg of ambien to sleep at night while detoxing off of klonopin...i would not worry...if u r taking 30-40mg ambien a night..then i would worry...
763205 tn?1234422576 How many pills did you take after going back and counting the tablets? It's not uncommon for people who take ambien or Ambien Cr to not remember doing something. They fall asleep and don't know they're sleeping, so the end up taking more pills because they don't remember taking the 1st one and the cycle keeps on going. I've heard horror stories of people racking up credit cards, diving and cooking while on Ambien.
Avatar f tn If you use it to help with withdrawals such as insomnia, that's what it sounds like you asking, you're only substituting another drug in place of the other(s) . Then again, it's probably worked as a 'bridge' for some people to make the withdrawal easier. But as mentioned above, it is addicting and often just prolongs the process more.
