I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.

Ambien CR does come in 12.5 mg -- I have some. the regular ambien does not, but ambien CR does. just clarification.

Ambien will help you get some sleep so yes I would say it is good. I worked for a Dr. before and the highest dose I saw given was a total of 12mg. So if the tab was 6mg then the patient could take 2. Taking 2 10mg of ambien seems a little high to me.Maybe someone else could answer better than me. I am one of those people that ambien doesn't work. I have tried Ambien cr, Lunesta (sp?) and regular Ambien and still couldn't get any sleep.

I am actually taking Klonopin now myself, in addition to Ambien CR, and it works great. .5mg in the morning and the same at bedtime, followed by the 12.5mg Ambien CR. Do you take any antidepressants? I also take Effexor XR and Cymbalta which regulate my anxiety very well and has nearly fully restored my ability to sleep which I had all but lost just a few months ago.

Look at all the posts of the shear terror, blackouts and horror Ambien and Ambien CR facilitate. I would bet that your EXTREMELY rare comment gave many struggling addicts an excuse to take more drugs. Look what happens to your sleep pattern after you take those for a couple weeks. Please, re-consider your advice, you may have directed someone down a road other than abstinece. Recovery is not about managing drugs, it is about managing your life without drugs.

I have been taking Ambien/Ambien CR for several years now. I switched from the regular Ambien when the Ambien CR became available. Two nights ago I took my nightly migraine medications and my Ambien CR. I remember being awake for about 45 mins after that and then I remember nothing. Some how I was unconscience when I took 8 more Ambien CR 12.5 mg. I remember nothing after that. I went on a wild rampage in my room and destroyed everything in sight and I do mean everything.

I also take Zolpidem for my drug induced insomnia. The standard version is either 5mg or 10mg. The CR version is 12.5mg. I tried both the standard and the CR versions. I didn't notice much difference so I am now taking the standard (10mg) version (mostly because it costs less). Reference LF12's comment. I took Restoril (Temazepam) about 13 years ago. It was VERY effective for adjusting my circadian rhythm after traveling half-way around the world.

Then a visit to my PCP for the Orthostatic Hypotension and he told me to go off those two drugs and gave me a script of 3 days with 1 refill of Ambien CR to see how I would react to that. After the 3 nights I started sleeping 18 to 20 hours of a 24 hr. period plus felt completely out of it. A call back to him and he said he just didn't know why I was doing that and suggested I should talk to my psyche about it which he was supposed to have done.

Fairly soon my Ob-gyn switched me to Ambien CR 12 mg and this worked quite well (1/2 at night and 1/2 in the middle of the night) - I definitively prefer Ambien CR to regular Ambien. PS: be careful if you try to switch to Lunesta, a friend of mine did that and he started to sleepwalk!!

How many pills did you take after going back and counting the tablets? It's not uncommon for people who take ambien or Ambien Cr to not remember doing something. They fall asleep and don't know they're sleeping, so the end up taking more pills because they don't remember taking the 1st one and the cycle keeps on going. I've heard horror stories of people racking up credit cards, diving and cooking while on Ambien.

i have been on clonazepam for many months and ambien cr i am having problems with thinking straight, and i believe it is the clonazepam not the ambien cr.

If you use it to help with withdrawals such as insomnia, that's what it sounds like you asking, you're only substituting another drug in place of the other(s) . Then again, it's probably worked as a 'bridge' for some people to make the withdrawal easier. But as mentioned above, it is addicting and often just prolongs the process more.

I started taking Alprazolem for anxiety 15 years ago. Since then I only take .5mg at night to help me relax and fall asleep. I now find the the 1 pill at night is not helping me sleep. So I started taking Ambien CR and stopped taking the Alprazolem. I'm sleeping great, but feel terrible in the morning. I feel nausea and tingling numbnest in my arm and face. Do you think its from the Ambien or from me stopping the alprazolem. Any advice?

Then, 30 minutes before actually going to bed I give him Ambien CR. The regular Ambien was not working at all. Ambien CR on the other hand seems to calm him down and there has been less action. I also placed a body pillow between us and that seems to curtail some of the aggressiveness. It gives him less space to move around and I feel safer. Yes, he speaks while he is asleep, (more of gurgutal sound than words) but it has come down a bit.

I am prescribed 12.5mg. of zolpidem but my insurance will only cover RX for 10mg. Is this safe to switch?

t said if he is taking Ambien or Ambien CR. The Ambien CR helped me MUCH more than the regular Ambien. Of course I never slept the whole night through but a few hours then I'd wake up about 2 but I was able to go back to sleep usually even if it was several times a night. Good luck, I've never been much of a good sleeper but if it gets that bad I would seek out a sleep clinic doctor place - he could have sleep apnea or something that is compounding the situation.

My husband has been on Ambien CR for 9 months. His sleep doctor prescribed this for sleep apnea. Is this really safe? He is supposed to use his CPAP machine along with the meds., but he has not used the machine in months. Is this really good, safe intelligent treatment for sleep apnea?

m taking the Ambien CR and THANK GOD FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!! I tried regular Ambien and had 2 nights in one week that I only got 2 hours of sleep... which didn't help with the depression or Riba Rage. I still wake up often, but am able to go back to sleep now. I have no problem with feeling bad the next day. I'm on Effexor for the depression. My feelings about the sx: Right now the most important thing is to kill this dragon... whatever it takes.

Can this be artificially high because of medications taken for other problems i.e. high blood pressure (5mg Norvasc, 12.5mg Hydrochlorothiazide, .1mg clonodine 2x daily), hormone replacement (premarin 1.25), anit-depressant (150xl Wellbutrin), sleep-aid (Ambien) and Prevacid?

today i saw a pain mngmt dr, he took me off hydrocodone 7.7/500mg, and tramadol 50mg, i was allowed 4 vicodins a day and up to 8 tramadol. i have an appt to see him next thursday to, He put me on morphine sulfate IR 1m mg, 1 tab 2x's a day and morphine sulfate 30 mg CR 1 tab 2x's a day, I hope i get better and longer relief. My question will these new meds help any thoughts?

I can tell you from experience, both Ambien and Ambien CR are notorious for causing odd behavior. I had to quit taking Ambien CR after it stated causing anxiety and pacin attack issues. Regular Ambien caused my husband to rise an hour after going to sleep and go down to our garage and work on his bike until 3:30 AM, when I realized he wasn't in bed and found him downstairs asleep.
