Ambien cr and melatonin

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien cr and melatonin

ambien

Avatar f tn Melatonin isn't going to hurt you, so there's no problem in taking it as an extra precaution. I would definitely let your physician know that you're doing that. Perhaps he can give you a good answer. REM can occur in different people. I don't experience REM and I've even tried taking Melatonin on top of my Seroquel XR, Ambien CR, Amitriptyline HCl, Clonazepam and something else I can't remember (I take so many pills).
Avatar n tn Ambien will help you get some sleep so yes I would say it is good. I worked for a Dr. before and the highest dose I saw given was a total of 12mg. So if the tab was 6mg then the patient could take 2. Taking 2 10mg of ambien seems a little high to me.Maybe someone else could answer better than me. I am one of those people that ambien doesn't work. I have tried Ambien cr, Lunesta (sp?) and regular Ambien and still couldn't get any sleep.
Avatar f tn t said if he is taking Ambien or Ambien CR. The Ambien CR helped me MUCH more than the regular Ambien. Of course I never slept the whole night through but a few hours then I'd wake up about 2 but I was able to go back to sleep usually even if it was several times a night. Good luck, I've never been much of a good sleeper but if it gets that bad I would seek out a sleep clinic doctor place - he could have sleep apnea or something that is compounding the situation.
Avatar n tn Ambien (zolpiedem) helped me. It works quickly, doesn't give a morning hangover and is pretty cheap as it's available as a generic. I haven't tried the Ambien CR (time released, non-generic). Only thing about ambien is that, for me, I wake up after about 6 hours. But those 6 hours are pretty solid sleep.
Avatar m tn i am taking ambien cr. melatonin and temazepam at the same time. Is this going to harm me?
Avatar n tn i have a chemically induced daze, little fatigue , muscle aches amd slight insomnia and melatonin doesnt seem to kick in , so i tale a little Ativan and it helps a little.
Avatar n tn I was on the Ambien CR for a while and that actually seemed to help more, but unfortunately, my prescription insurance coverage stopped covering the CR, I'm guessing because that is the only Ambien formula that does not currently have a generic form. I have tried both Sonata and Lunesta also for sleep. The Sonata did absolutely nothing for me and the Lunesta gave me wicked hallucinations. My doctor also tried me on trazodone, but it had the opposite effect on me and made me super hyper.
Avatar m tn I returned to the United States from a 3 week vacation to New Zealand / Australia in late November - the time zone difference was 16 hours. The first night back, I was able to get a full night's sleep, however, since then my sleep has been limited to 5-6 hours per night (before the trip, I got almost 8 hours). Ended up getting an upper respiratory infection a few days after returning.
Avatar n tn listen to the peeps about melatonin...works great, no weird side affects and u don't get dependent on it.....use it to taper down off Ambien. U can even start it on a low dose of Ambien and that might help taper....although I wouldn't exceed 1 mg.
202665 tn?1248806733 I've had the same problem... there's a certain window of opportunity for the Ambien to take effect... and if you don't snatch it, then you can feel wired, but tired at the same time. you might want to have your doc prescribe the Ambien CR instead, it's a controlled release and I find that it works pretty well... Also, may want to try Lunesta, if the Ambien is no longer working for you... but those drugs are supposed to be for temporary use only...
Avatar m tn i got the most help, though, when i got some ambien CR from my dr. so long as you anlu use it for a couple of weeks, ther should be no problem with it. try a long hot bath to relax also. hope something helps, let me know, ok?
Avatar f tn FYI-tried taking 9mg of melatonin with 5mg of ambien-not good! I think the melatonin kept me awake. Going to just cut my 5mg ambien in half and then stop. I'll probably take some Tylenol pm too. That seems to work better than melatonin, at least for me.
Avatar n tn It's also available in 10 mg and ambien CR
Avatar m tn I started taking Alprazolem for anxiety 15 years ago. Since then I only take .5mg at night to help me relax and fall asleep. I now find the the 1 pill at night is not helping me sleep. So I started taking Ambien CR and stopped taking the Alprazolem. I'm sleeping great, but feel terrible in the morning. I feel nausea and tingling numbnest in my arm and face. Do you think its from the Ambien or from me stopping the alprazolem. Any advice?
Avatar f tn I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
362692 tn?1248639193 Melatonin doesn't do diddly for me. If Ambien helps then do take it. It's not a narcotic. Sleep is so important.
Avatar n tn Ambien CR does come in 12.5 mg -- I have some. the regular ambien does not, but ambien CR does. just clarification.
1116669 tn?1269143266 I am in week 3. Sleep was an immediate issue and was in fact not good prior to tx. Pharmacist suggested Melatonin. Said your body creates this naturally for sleep so this is a natural over the counter product. I think I found it at CVS, maybe Whole Foods. I take 1 pill at night and it knocks me out. It is hard to get up in the morning. Since i have to get up early I take this by 9 at the latest.
Avatar n tn is there a contraindication between ambien and melatonin?
Avatar m tn Hey everyone, today is day 8 with no suboxone and day 25 no pills. After my first 5 day of sub I was down to 2 mgs and weened down to .125 mg total sub usage was 17 days. For the last 20 days I've had problems sleeping the doctor gave me ambien cr and I've taken it to help sleep because I've worked all through this. So I've been taking melatonin and valerian root to sleep naturally. It helps me go down then after 1-2 hours I'm up!
Avatar m tn Ambien Cr. I've been off Methadone for two months now and still can't sleep. Actually I now fall asleep about 6am and wake up about 2pm. Totally screwed up. I plan on getting back on it. Its the best night sleep ever and it will knock you out for the night time withdrawals. It gets better, hang in there.
8653684 tn?1399350052 If ambien is safe... melatonin DEF should be, Its all natural, Ambien is a high grade sleep medicine. Lol i was told melatonin was fine by docs and all my searchings online.
1201433 tn?1328997637 I alternate Ambien (10 mg.) with 3 mg. Melatonin. When that doesn't work, I take both. My pharmicist says there's no problem with combining the two.
Avatar n tn I am a 36 y/o female. I have had sleep problems since about 13. It started out as light sleeping and has continued to evolve from there. My father has the same problem. I have tried many different sleep meds. Restoril, Vistaril, Valium, deseryl, rozarem (did nothing for me), and now am taking ambien. I have a script for regular and CR. The CR works better but is expensive so I don't take it as often.
763205 tn?1234422576 I have been taking Ambien/Ambien CR for several years now. I switched from the regular Ambien when the Ambien CR became available. Two nights ago I took my nightly migraine medications and my Ambien CR. I remember being awake for about 45 mins after that and then I remember nothing. Some how I was unconscience when I took 8 more Ambien CR 12.5 mg. I remember nothing after that. I went on a wild rampage in my room and destroyed everything in sight and I do mean everything.
783281 tn?1259691431 Look at all the posts of the shear terror, blackouts and horror Ambien and Ambien CR facilitate. I would bet that your EXTREMELY rare comment gave many struggling addicts an excuse to take more drugs. Look what happens to your sleep pattern after you take those for a couple weeks. Please, re-consider your advice, you may have directed someone down a road other than abstinece. Recovery is not about managing drugs, it is about managing your life without drugs.
364326 tn?1222659873 JDR, I have used AMBIEN CR the last three nights, double the normal 12mg dose (blue pill) and I eventually get about 6-8 hours. I have melatonin and might try it and then scale back on the Ambien, but I think the Ambien is worth it because I think I can deal with with withdrawal symptoms with better sleep. And, it helps with the RLS, too...I only have it for about the first 1/2 our so after I lay down and then I'm out. I'd ask the Dr. for some Ambien if you can.
