Ambien and tylenol pm

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien and tylenol pm

ambien

Avatar m tn But why bother with the Tylenol/acetaminophen? Long term use affects the liver. The ingredient in tylenol PM that makes you drowsy is Diphenhydramine or benadryl. I would just get that, 25-50 mg per night.
Avatar n tn the drowsy substance in tylenol pm is benadryl, which is pregnancy safe. you can call the doctor to re-assure yourself but they will tell you it is fine to take. i even think it is on my lsit of OK meds for pregnancy that i got from my prenatal nurse. i hope you are able to get some rest soon.
624083 tn?1369314263 Yup it is perfectly safe, tylenol PM is just tylenol and benedryl, both are safe during pregnancy. Make sure you are only taking it if you absolutely need it though. Try taking a relaxing bath and drinking some sleepy time tea, that might help or at least it is worth a try.
Avatar m tn If you are looking for an OTC solution, I would recommend treatment with a medication that does not contain acetaminophen, as NyQuil and Tylenol PM do. This will just cause unnecessary damage to your liver. Tylenol does make a sleep aid that does not actually contain acetaminophen, only diphenhydramine (Benadryl), which is what's making you sleepy when you take these meds. You can also find generic versions of Benadryl sleep aids at most drug stores.
4165941 tn?1353988628 Id call the doc and ask about Tylenol pm bc it just had a recall I'm pretty sure
Teacher Is it safe to take Tylenol PM w/Clonazepam? I did take Ambien, and did not feel safe w/both meds.
Avatar m tn Tylenol PM is great if you have some pain and need to rest, and if your not taking it every night and only take it here and there yea i can usderstand using it. But its made for pain during the night... not a sleep aid. But if your not in pain its better to side with less work for the liver, so plain benedryl is my choice.
12796163 tn?1436135189 I can understand not taking Advil or Aleve because they have blood thinners in them, but my hospital gives Tylenol when you need pain meds and all my docs say Tylenol is okay. I know every doctor is different but I trust mine.
Avatar f tn At least 6-7 years at a pop and can stop it with very mild consequences. Some lack of sleep and maybe some headaches and neck/back pain but really nothing. Try OTC Advil pm or something maybe.
Avatar f tn try melatonin it has helped me and detox of methadone and Tylenol pm . never realized how important it is till its gone.
Avatar n tn My doctor had me on 10 mg Ambien and my body got used to it and it became in affective. He has prescribed up to 2 mg of Ativan and taken me of the Ambien. So far, taking the full 2 mg will get me to sleep, but it sure takes a long time, 2 hours or more.
870200 tn?1240459551 Perhaps I need to pick some up...my daughter told me she has taken Tylenol PM and that works great too. Sometimes you have to watch it to make sure it does not affect your liver...and me without a gallbladder...well we know I need my liver in prime shape. Think I am going to pick some up today! Hopefully it will help with the back pains I have been waking up with too. I am sure the back aches have to do with the gallbladder removal.
Avatar f tn klonopin is faster acting than zanax or some of the others i believe.. as far as it being different from ambien, the ambien, lunesta's etc. are in a class called sleep hypnotics, and the benzo's are.. benzo's! personally, i'd rather take an ambien than and OTC sleeping pill so i don't have the "sleeping pill hangover." but, if you think you'll get addicted to it, then you might be better off with the OTC (altho..
323551 tn?1255174750 anything u choose to sleep with..even tylenol pm can be psychologically habitforming...if u r using 5-10 mg of ambien to sleep at night while detoxing off of klonopin...i would not worry...if u r taking 30-40mg ambien a night..then i would worry...
8653684 tn?1399350052 Everyone has different opinions though, melatonin doesnt work for me tho, also was told tylenol pm and benadryl are perfectly safe as well :)
9055982 tn?1414980421 You should not take ambien when pregnant... I am a pharmacy tech and unless it is medically necessary you should not be taking it while pregnant. You can take benadryl though, that should put you right to sleep. Ambien can pass through the placenta and cause respiratory problems for baby...
Avatar n tn I would not get your hopes with the Ambien I had Ambien and valium I used both for a week and still lost allot of sleep. Sleep deprivation is part of the ride. With time sleep will come bit by bit. I still wake up earlier than I want but my sleep I get is good sleep. Give your body some time to heal it has been through allot with using. I think by this weekend you will feel much better. After day 4 it only gets better.
326590 tn?1296062449 I'm 25 wks now and I was having a mild headache yesterday, so I took a tylenol PM last night before bed. I rested well and the headache is gone today, but I have felt the baby move very little today. I know what we take can pass through the placenta. Is it possible that I put her to sleep? Every now and then I feel a flutter, but no strong taps like usual and not often. Maybe like 3 times all day.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Tylenol pm during pregnancy? Or acetaminophen/ diphenhydramine. My doc said its ok but im just so nervous i haven't taken any medicine while pregnant and don't like to but i just can't sleep at all and im misserable.
Avatar f tn Tylenol is safe to take , my dr said if necessary to take medicine then take tylenol . But dont do it often.
387294 tn?1207620185 The active ingredients in Tylenol PM are acetaminophen and diphenhydramine; the diphenhydramine is an antihistamine and can be purchased separately (and generically) as a sleep aid from Wal-mart or Walgreen’s very inexpensively; ask the pharmacist to find it for you in the OTC section. Best of luck to you as you finish up your treatment, and stop in and let us know how things went.
Avatar n tn It was in my system for maybe an hour and I ate a full meal but then I got upset and took a lot of tylenol pm...not sure how many but I think five to twenty with juice. I realized after what I had done and threw up as many as I could...about five. I drank water and went to sleep. I slept most of the next day but ate and today I went to school..I was drowsy and had stomach pain but it went away and all afternoon and evening I've been fine...
362119 tn?1223137936 i was told that regular tylenol was okay, but i don't know about tylenol pm. oh, how i miss tylenol pm!!! it would provide me with some of my best nights sleep!! i can't believe you are almost there girl!! 38 weeks!! sorry you're not sleeping. is it comfort issues or being unable to turn your brain off?
391232 tn?1255026870 In my first trimester I was having a hard time sleeping and I asked what I can take...She told me Benedryl or Tylenol PM...I went with Benedryl b/c the tylenol makes me feel groggy when I get up in the morning...
Avatar f tn That's a really low dose and you should be fine. As Eyeofhorus mentions, there may be a bit of a placebo effect working for you so don't freak out if you have trouble falling asleep a few nights. The "PM" part of Tylenol PM is diphenhydramine, better known as Benadryl. You might experience a runny nose and sinus congestion as your body adjusts to not having that antihistamine available on a daily basis.
3158998 tn?1358542044 I have been advice by my obgyn that is ok to take tylenol, what about tylenol pm??? i know it contains some type of medicine to help you relax and go to sleep...
Avatar n tn was in your Tylenol PM as that is the only part that makes you sleepy anyway and if it is possible, buy a pure benadryl product in that same dosage if a doctor or a pharmacist were to say that was okay as well. Mind you, it has also been shown that most people become sort of immune to the sleepy effects of the benadryl after 3 days...
