Ambien and prednisone

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien and prednisone

Avatar f tn I'm currently on prednisone and antibiotic for a horrible case of bronchitis and a severe asthma attack. I've been on prednisone many times in my life due to my asthma, as well as my lupus. This current time, I was given an 80mg shot of Kenalog at Urgent Care the first day I went when I had gotten so sick. They also sent me home with the prescription for the oral prednisone - 10 days worth - the first five days were to be 40mg daily and then down to 20mg daily for 5 days before stopping.
Avatar m tn I find that my Avonex symtoms kick in almost exactly 3 hours after the shot. So an hour or two after the injection, I take an Aleve and an Ambien, and go to bed for the night. Once or twice I've awakened and found myself in the throes of very painful 'Avonex legs,' but still I managed to go back to sleep. Usually, though, I sleep through the whole thing and so have no flu stuff whatever. I know I'm really lucky in this regard. I have to say it's about time!!
Avatar n tn ). It just starts to wear on you after this long. Also, the prednisone has caused my menstrual cycle to be every 2 1/2 weeks, which in turn makes my disease flare. AAUUGGGHHH! Autoimmune disorders stink! (Can you tell I am having a bad prednisone day?) I am usually in very high spirits, I work with kindergarten children, have 2 girl scout troops and 3 very active kids, so I stay very busy and involved.
Avatar f tn I've been taking the 10 mg of ambien as I have issues falling asleep, when I was in the hosital on the steriods they gave me 5 mg, as I had prednisone when I got home we discussed it and upped it to 10 mg, which works well for me.
Avatar f tn I just started taking Ambien to help me get to sleep. I have been diagnosed with a sinus infection and was prescribed Prednisone. I have taken this before, and it makes me very jittery and I cannot sleep while taking it. Can I add a Soma with the Ambien to enable me to sleep?
Avatar m tn 1. Why when I take a 10 mg Ambien during the day (which my doctor wanted me to try) do I no longer have anxiety or depression and I am no longer nervous, I get my confidence back and I no longer sweat like crazy when shoveling or racking something up? 2. Is there anyway doctors can inject sometype of dye or something indirectly (by drinking or through an IV) or directly (which I don't know how they do that) into your thyroid, pituitary, hypothalmus, adrenal glands, etc...
Avatar n tn I have been on Asacol, prednisone, ambien, ativan, percoset, unisom over the last 4 years due to a chronic illness. I recently had major surgery (11 weeks ago) and I am completely off all medications for the first time !!!!!! However, I am so itchy. Itchy everywhere. No rash, no bumps, nothing obvious at all. Just itchy. It seems random. In the morning, in the night. Its not constant, but it is intense. I am trying to figure it out. Help !
1207048 tn?1282177904 I did 3 days of IV steroids starting April 26th, and have been on the prednisone taper since. My doctor gave me all kinds of medicines to take along with the prednisone. Ok, only two, but for someone who hates to take medicine that's a lot LOL I've taken prilosec everyday to prevent tummy troubles. Also, I've been taking a sleeping pill each night. I can take one or two, and up till this past week I've pretty much taken 2. I also take gabapentin every night, usually 300 or 400mg.
Avatar f tn A nurse is going to come to our home next Friday and show my husband and I how to do my avonex injections and I found out after 200.00 deductible all I will have to pay is 40.00 a month. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be! Cant wait until this weekend. We are going to have one WHOLE night kids...just the 2 of us for our anniversary. I hope it is ok to have a couple of drinks with the prednisone. Wish you all a good weekend!

Avatar n tn I will shortly have a zpak and some ambien (havent been sleeping since the start of this cold) I also have a friend that has steroid meds like prednisone, but I am not going to try that unless the uvula gets worse. What should I do? I have read so many forums on home remedies most say wait it out, until I had the uvula swell I was fine with that. Most of the forums that talk about the uvula swelling contribute it to drinking alcholol, but I dont drink. They also say see a DR.
Avatar n tn I also have a history (both personal and family) of depression and have suffered several episodes of major depression. I was initially treated with imuran and prednisone, but had severe side effects from both, including suicidal mood swings from the prednisone, for which I was hospitalized for approx. 8 weeks. I was switched to 50 mg Puri-Nethol, and for over a year I take 375 mg Effexor daily and 45 mg Remeron daily for the depression.
Avatar n tn All they give me are anti inflammatory that have done nothing. I need to take Ambien just to sleep because of the pain. I even took 2 tonight and noticed blood in my stool. My breathing sucks, but the worst pain is the pain on my sides, it kills, usually on my left side, but its constant, never goes away. I can't live like this. Can someone help me?
Avatar n tn Apparently I had one short period of REM just before they had to wake me. I still can't fall asleep and stay asleep well at night, even with Lunesta, Ambien or Ambien CR, but I have overwhelming urges to sleep in the day. For example, I can be working away at the computer and while waiting for a process to finish, I will fall into fairly deep sleep, complete with strange dreams or "visions", then wake up within a minute or so.
Avatar n tn is it safe to take dilaudid, seroquel, ambien, prednisone, and ativan while pregnant?
Avatar n tn I have to use prednisone or medrol on and off both for pain and for asthma. I take asthma inhalers and the like when needed. I don't sleep at night and they put me on Ambien which I have taken for many months now and it no longer very effective for helping me sleep, without it I can't sleep more than 2 hours, with it no more than 4 hrs, I used to be able to sleep 6 hrs with it. In addition, I am very overweight and tried to lose weight.
Avatar n tn Her only meds are 5mg prednisone od,combivent as needed and nebulizer(infrequently), She's also taking 10mg Ambien to sleep. What's your opinion?
Avatar f tn Had been hospitalized five times over three yrs because of leg pain and my legs just giving out on me...not responding. Well three yrs ago they thought it was lupus and ruled it out and I was given a dx of MS. I had had MRI done at hospital and it showed lessions on the brain, labs would show muscle difficiencies etc. My attacks would always come during summer I would be down a few wks (about 8 days in hospital and rest recovery at home). I have NEVER been on MS medicatation.
Avatar n tn I've been taking 500mg metformin myself and I have not experienced any weight loss. I am actually taking it for diabetes treatment. But it has not helped with my weight loss.
Avatar n tn NO active infection seen (fungal infections have up to an 8 week window to return) Prescribed amoxocillian and prednisone 4 pills/3 Days; 3pills/3 days 2 pills/3days 1 pill/3 days. Symtoms began to worsen and returned on 2 pill day/2. Asked what the antibiotic was for, never given a concise answer. 7/10 retrned to PCP to discuss the biopsy report more clearly. My feeling from that meeting was that we'd found a lot of what is was NOT.
Avatar n tn Things that have helped have included aspirin, naproxen, prednisone, and provigil, although I'm not taking anything but the first 2 right now, and sparingly. I don't want to throw any lab results. *A note to the original post: KEEP DIGGING. It's exhausting, but you have to be completely tenacious with the process. I'd never have found out all kinds of things (and ruled out lots of things) if I hadn't.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been on Effexor XR for 3 years and I have gained about 40-50pounds, most when my dose was increased to 225, now I am on 75mg b/c I'm getting ready to wean off the medicine in a couple of weeks, and I haven't lost anything yet. My eating habits have not changed and I exercise. I have always been underweight and I could eat whatever I wanted...I'm only 26 years old...I know my metabolism has changed some, but not enough to pack on 40 pounds.
Avatar n tn This is after trying multiple antidepressants and sleep agents over the previous 5 years. The Effexor and Ambien worked well - felt good, slept good, minimal weight gain, minimal side effects. However, my family began complaining that I would "wander" at night (eat, fall, on rare occasions drink, and become an attention "*****" to quote my oldest daughter). Over time, I became increasingly lethargic, had difficulty concentrating and felt dazed most of the time.
Avatar n tn I am on a beta blocker, atenolol, prednisone, and an antibiotic. any reactions if I take .
Avatar n tn I have had asthma for about 15 years and sometimes have to take prednisone and an antibiotic. I just did come off of those two meds a couple of weeks ago and haven't been able to sleep hardly at all. This has never happened before. I take combivent and flovent 2 times a day and have been doing this for a long time. I don't understand why I can't sleep when nothing has changed for me. I have tried pm meds and also ambien with no luck sleeping. What is going on for this to happen to me?
Avatar f tn The first time I experienced the chest pain it lasted 4 days straight. I went to my dr and he prescribed Prednisone 50 mg once a day for 7 days. I am finding it doesn't help even for an hour or two. Seems it was a complete waste of my time. I know stress is a factor that can affect autoimmune diseases as well but it is really difficult to shut the nursing side of my brain up to all these symptoms and not get worked up, although I am trying along with support from my wonderful husband.
Avatar n tn I tried everything but washing them (shower) everyday and letting them dry seemed to keep them least painful. I used steroid meds (prednisone) EOT for 5 days but it is still trying to clear at 2 mo. post tx. It IS clearing though and like jmjm says, a topical steroid cream will probably help. Catch 22 is that steroids effect the immune system but a topical may help more than hurt! Vaseline (not lotion, clear stuff) kept some from cracking and hurting.
Avatar n tn I have been on Interferon Gamma 1b (injections 3x week for about 14 months), prednisone (60-80mg every other day), furosemide (40mg daily), potassium (3x day), morphine 60mg long-acting (2x day), morphine 30mg breakthrough (not to exceed 6 pills day), clonazepam (daily), theophylline (300mg 2x day), all the asthma inhalers (albuterol now pro air, combivent and serevent), ambien to help me sleep, diazepam to help with my nerves, flexaril to help with my joint and muscle pain, promethazine for m
Avatar f tn I did nothing for the deadaches, and I am now taking divaloprox for them. This is helping too. I am also on verapamil, prednisone, avapro, vit B-12, vit-D, calcium, cymbalta, plavix, and ambien. I'm a walking grugstore I have recently develped Hoener's Syndrome, choking on liquids, a chronic cough, fecal urgency, and regurgitation. I fel as though I will drown if I lay flat. My neurologist says he just doesn;t know anymore. my symptoms are so scattered.
Avatar n tn They start from the time I get up in the moring and don't go away unitl I have taken my Ambien Cr and go to sleep. I have had a CAT scan, and an EEG, so for nothing. They keep telling me it is migraines, but I have not heard of migraines lasting longer that a couple of weeks. I have bee put on "Topomax, Skelaxin, Prednisone, Naprosyn, and Immitrex, and Midrin. Nothing alleviates thte pain. The pain is horrible and sometimes i feel like my head is being squeezed, or about to blow up.
