Ambien and heart problems

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien and heart problems

ambien

Avatar n tn BTW - the person has a history of heart failure (30% squeeze of the heart today), renal cancer is in remission and had a few areas on the lung, of which most have been targeted via laser (today, only one is supposed to exist), diabetes, weakness of muscles and experiencing extreme fatigue (sleeping most of the day), issues with trying to get food down them on a consistent basis. Any help you can give is appreciated! Thanks everyone.
Avatar m tn At day 19 I thought I would be completely finished with these xanax wd's but they keep coming and coming. Late last night I watched a commercial about Lunesta and they mentioned that a common side effect was new or worsening depression. That caught my attention so I began to frantically research Ambien and every article I've read lists new or worssening depression as a common side effect. I've been taking Ambien off & on for the past 2 years..usually only 1/2 a tablet.
Avatar f tn try melatonin it has helped me and detox of methadone and Tylenol pm . never realized how important it is till its gone.
Avatar m tn After a week of no sleep, my Doctor said nothing was wrong with my physically and put me on Ambien to get my sleep cycle back to normal and said I had anxiety and that it would go away. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations to getting my breathing back to normal?
Avatar n tn We can't make prescription recommendations here, but as sleeping medications such as Ambien require a doctor prescription, ask the doctor writing the prescription. I take beta blocker, calcium channel blocker and blood thinner, and I occasionally take a generic ambian. This prescription was made by a doctor familiar with my condition and medication regiment.
Avatar f tn I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
Avatar f tn I also am very Vitamin D deficient but have been working at that by doing a treatment, under supervision, of 50,000 I.U. once a week. I have heart burn and acid reflux but my Zantac soothes that. Any ideas why I would be waking up with whole body vibrations? And I having so many muscle spasms? It worries me, too that I have a stiff neck. I've been receiving therapy for it and its gotten seemingly better since the Vitamin D treatment but there was never an explanation for it.
Avatar m tn I'm no doctor, so I definitely can't give you any medical information on Ambien, but I can relay my personal experience with it. I've been on Ambien (currently 10mg) for SEVERAL years now (5 or more). I have many chronic pain conditions, including fibroymalgia. One of the major symptoms of fibro is insomnia - which I definitely suffer from!
Avatar n tn I used to take Ambien, and I had great results with it for a short time. But with all medications, it eventually lost it's effectiveness, and I switched to Lunesta. Lunesta was a good alternative for me. I never had nausea with either med., but I have experienced the daytime grogginess with both. It does go away after a while, as you become adjusted to it. Unfortunatly for me, sleep medications only work for a short time. I am a true insomniac, and nothing works for long.
1175891 tn?1265728013 The next day I woke up, drank an energy drink (which I have been drinking at the rate of one to two a day for the past 2 years) and suddenly had a really tachy heart beat and a faint radial pulse. I went to the ER and the ECG came back normal. Over the next month I had 5 more ECG's, 2 blood tests for thyroid irregularities, a chest X-ray, a 24-hour Holter monitor, an MRI, and a stress test. All came back clean.
Avatar n tn I know I always make myself cough in case my heart is racing and to get myself more awake and then I lie there and wait for it to subside. It doesn't last long, probably no more than a few minutes. I have checked out our sleep clinics and am told I will have to go to sleep on my own for an evaluation. I have trouble going to sleep away from home even with a sleep aid, let alone on my own and no trouble at all at staying awake the entire night.
1202033 tn?1273771354 So, i have a short script for ambien, to help with my sleeping problems and anxiety. Anyways, i was wondering, when i run out will i have to go through the withdraws again??? Anyone who knows more about this, please do share!!!!
Avatar m tn ve read scary stuff regarding that. Ambien sounds strong also and I read it makes you do some incredible and possibly dangerous things in your sleep. I do have a couple sample pills of both ambien and trazodone. Is there any harm in trying one for two days, wait a day and try the other the next two nights just to see what works best?. Would one .25 mg. of xanax taken every other day, or even every night at say 2 a.m. be habit forming should I go that route?
Avatar n tn is there a contraindication between ambien and melatonin?
Avatar m tn Narcotics also would get my heart racing. I had to take Halcion, Tramadol, and antihistamines at the same time to make myself sleepy.
Avatar n tn I have told people over and over about my experiences with ambien (sleep driving, sleep eating, and hair loss). It made me lose all grips on reality. It also destroyed me physicall and mentally. I wished I would have never heard of the c r a p. I have been clean from it for 6 months and I hope I never experience anything like it again. It was my fault because I wasn't taking it as prescribed. Whatever you do, only take one at bedtime.
Avatar f tn He was born perfectly fine. had apgars of 8 and9 and only needed a little blowby oxygen even tho he was a preemie and had 3 holes in his heart (related to down syndrome). but make sure to ask your dr!
Avatar m tn When I first started taking it, I have to say I had to be ready for bed then and there I would get so groggy but it got better the longer I took it and yes since I stopped taking it I sleep pretty good I havent had any problems, I will tell you its so much safer then ambien. Just try and do what the Doc says Im not sure about the tapering from ambien I was only on it for 2 wks and my addiction Dr took me right off of it and put me on the trazadone, everyone in the rehab I was at took Traz.
1929318 tn?1323237123 I remember talking to my doctor and him telling me how my heart needed the rest and for me at the time he felt that was most inportain thing. He started me at 5mg. After about a month or 2 he moved me up to 10mg. At the time I really didn't know all the side effects. If I had realized the long term effects it would have on me there is no way in hell I would have ever started on it.
Avatar n tn I sent you a message about the ambien. I was addicted to both, ambien and hydros. My story was a little long, so I sent it in a message.
Avatar f tn Kudos on your clean time. I'm clean 15 days. I too have sleep problems. I've always had sleep problems, but after WDs from vikes I REALLY have sleep trouble. I have a script for Ambien. It's the lesser of the two evils and easy to use as prescribed. I take a melatonin and 1/2 of a 10mg ambien (I use pill cutter) I then quarter the other half. I wake up to go to the bathroom about 4 hours later and take another quarter. So far so good.
327369 tn?1326119908 I sleep so great some nights and others it is a struggle.....I am either wired, heart is palpitating, etc. and then I get anxious because I cannot sleep and know that I will be tired at work the next day. I have some xanex that helps sometimes and I have tried melatonin but nothing is great at helping me. I do not like lunesta or ambien because of side effects. Oh well....just wondering about others out there and how you handle it.
Avatar f tn The Ativan is much more addictive than the Ambien, and you're taking it daily. Voice your concerns about this as well. Do you really need it twice every day, or can you take it just when you absolutely need it? Have you learned any relaxation techniques? If not, a CBT therapist should be able to teach you some.
Avatar f tn Yes, I was prescribed ambien from my addiction doc and their is not contraindication according to her. This didn't work for me as I took ambien a long time while addicted to opiates. I amnoe presribed Rozazem 8mg. Not helping me either. My tolerance to benzos and opiated are really high! Try the ambien 12.5 time released and by God, don't chew them or they def will not work long.
Avatar f tn And to add a little sidenote What might help coming up with a solution to this problem is that before my first panic attack started which started the heart palpitations and beatings after I eat is a year prior I was having very bad stomach problems pains gas nausea and went to see a gastroenterologist and have a what might help coming up with a solution to this problem is that before my first panic attack started which started the heart palpitations and beatings after I eat is a year prior I w
