Ambien and diphenhydramine

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien and diphenhydramine

ambien

Avatar m tn I have been on Ambien and other sleep aides prescribed by doctors and they never mentioned it interferring with my TSH level. I had a TT due to graves disease almost 15yrs ago. Insomnia was the only symptom that never went away... Currently I am on Ambien to help me sleep, but I only take it once every seven days because it will not work if i take it more than that.
Avatar m tn I take 10 mg of Ambien Sun-Thurs, is it okay for me to take 2 Tylenol PMs on Fri & Sat nights?
2022859 tn?1342283129 Ask your dr for something. Mine gave me ambien and i sleep like a baby. I only take a half pill tho... wait where did that term come from sleep like a baby cuz they dont sleep very well....
1808884 tn?1324345703 s), actually works best for me but builds up a tolerance too quickly. Ambien and Lunesta are garbage for me also. The best thing I found was Trazodone, 100mg's before bed, taken with food to be better absorbed into the blood. Sometimes I need 150mg's, but will wake up the next day like coming out of a coma.
Avatar f tn diphenhydramine is Benadryl. waterLilly7 probably meant Doxylamine, which is Unisom. A slow taper can be done over time, slowly decreasing the medication little by little. The body doesn't notice when it's done in small enough increments, and the body is given time to get used to a slightly smaller amount. How fast or slow one tapers depends on what works. A fast taper can be from 0 to 2 weeks. A slow taper may take months.
Avatar n tn ambien will help.also, otr stuff diphenhydramine (benedryl) 50 mg or doxyclamine (umisom) 25-50 mg. mixed with the ambien will have an additive effect.Maybe taking it with a glass of wine might help also. Make sure your room is dark, you should put black tape ove those little lights on your tv vcr radio clock. maybe a little loft music on low volume, but try to eliminate any other noise.
Avatar n tn I used diphenhydramine (Benedryl) to sleep while on TX, starting with 50 mg and working up to 200 mg by 6 months of TX. Lunesta and Ambien are also excellent, but have more side effects and slight withdrawal issues.
Avatar f tn Well I slept a LOT better and I'm telling y'all, that makes THE difference for me. I did take a low dose Ambien that I got from the dr the last time I was w/d. I have usually had to take diphenhydramine since forever to get sleep so I don't think I'll get hooked on the Ambien. It doesn't hug me like Oxy did.
Avatar m tn I've been having trouble sleeping the last few months and at my recent physical, my doctor prescribed Trazadone. I took it a couple nights and couldn't get out of bed and then felt groggy and unmotivated the rest of the day. Doing some research I found out, after the fact, that this was initially an anti-depressant. Quite frankly, I don't like the idea of taking something that was formulated for a psychological condition which I don't have. Long story short, I trashed the pills.
Avatar f tn If you take Ambien and go to sleep you're okay. But if you take Ambien and don't go to sleep, strange things can happen. Follow this link to read a tale of nighttime possum petting. Seriously, folks, the truth can be stranger than fiction. If this is the truth!!! 443006 tn?1229201842 I told my doctor no on the sleep aides too. I later decided that was a mistake and began taking Ambien. It works for me most of the time. I figured it beats the losing sleep battle.
Avatar f tn His doctor is now on vacation and has no one who knows his history. I dont want come doctor to prescribe him ambien or somehting like that...any thoughts or recommendations? must be non narcotic....please help! thank you so much in advanced!
Avatar n tn m not sleeping so last night i took ambien 5mg. It put me in this really relaxed state and i felt great and i was thinking really happy thoughts, but i still didnt sleep. I feel sooo sleepy and tired today. Does anyone have any suggestions for incurable insomnia which is taking over my life. And why is ambien not working wonders for me...I want to have a full nights rest and wake up refreshed pleasee. Ambien is supposed to put you to sleep.
Avatar f tn ambien and all those other regular ol sleep meds NEVER worked for me....melatonin neither....i've used a natural product containing passionflower and tart cherry which has worked wonders (also good to take every 2-4 hours during the day for anxiety)....but i think most of all, what i JUST discovered, is that taking 1000 mg of magnesium RIGHT before bedtime does the trick.....wow.....i have been taking mag for the past 6 months....but like 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon.....
Avatar m tn Ambien diidnt work very well for me during w/d's - - and I used it successfuly when not in withdraw - - - - I used benadryl (diphenhydramine) with the best success during the withdrawal phase ...................along with hot showers and sleepytime (celestial seasonings mint) TEA......
Avatar m tn You’re fortunate it works for you’ some people get a paradoxical effect from it and end up a bit wired and hyper. It’s available generically from places like Wal-Mart under the name diphenhydramine pretty inexpensively; it shouldn’t be necessary to use brand name with that. Of course, be sure to discuss this with your doctor, in the event he has specific instructions for you. He might also be able to offer you something more effective as well.
Avatar n tn You can try benadryl too, it’s an antihistamine and available generically as ‘diphenhydramine’ in the local drug store OTC. Prescription aids like Lunesta and Ambien work VERY well; I think Ambien is available now in generic form. That’s something to start with; others will most likely offer some other thoughts as well.
Avatar n tn I have some serious trouble sleeping I did before i was pregnant and was taking Ambien, but I am afraid to take that while being pregnant, am I able to take Tylenol PM to help me out?
Avatar f tn I use unisom sleep tabs. I've taken them since the very beginning and I'm now 38 weeks. The active ingredient is doxylamine. Just check the box because unisom also has a kind with diphenhydramine as the active ingredient and that's just benadryl and doesn't work as well. The doxylamine is actually commonly paired with b6 for morning sickness as well. I have had barely any nausea issues since I've been taking it. It works well!
Avatar n tn Elavil/Endep can be tried if you are not comfortable with Ambien and it is a non-addictive drug. Avoid tickling clocks, very bright-blinking lights, and very tight clothing or bedding. If you still do not feel any improvement, consult a sleep specialist and get sleep test done to know present status of sleep pattern. Take care and update on your progress.
1194973 tn?1385503904 I know that I was in the hospital, for kidney stones when I was pregnant with my daughter and one night they asked if I needed help sleeping and I said yes and they gave me Ambien....I didn't think about it until after I had taken it and I was like what?! a sleep-aid?! and then I was asleep and didn't budge until the next morning, lol. I know of at least 2 other women that were prescribed Ambien during pregnancy for OCCASIONAL sleepless nights...maybe you could look into that?
620048 tn?1358018235 Yes, fatigue and insomnia can exist together. I know all too well about that. It's important to note that if you have insomnia you are bound to be fatigued. The big problem comes in when you are extra exhausted for some reason (travel, very busy in life, etc.) and still can't sleep. Then you can get almost dysfunctional because your body is so tired yet you can't rest properly. If you have MS fatigue combined with insomnia, the result is the same.
Avatar n tn i took tylenol pm last night and just wanted to know how long it takes until the diphenhydramine gets out of your system because this is one of the things tested for in my urine, even though it is rediculous because I had a headache and needed it.
Avatar m tn Is it safe to take 3 tablets of diphenhydramine (75 mg) if 2 tablets (50 mg) doesn't help my insomnia?
