Ambien and benadryl together

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien and benadryl together

ambien

Avatar n tn Some look sorta like ringworm and some look like bug bites. I started taking benadryl and using hydrocortizone cream, but did not stop the Ambien. The rash eventually got better, although, it still has not completely faded. About 2 weeks ago I got a boil on my finger and now I am getting another one. The first one has shown no sign of healing yet. It's quite painful... an open sore. I still develope these red marks that I immediately put hydrocortizone cream on.
Avatar m tn It has come to a point where I need to medicate myself with several different medicines in order to fall asleep. I usually take Ambien 10 mg and I take two od those and sometimes Xanax 1 mg. I have noticed that Ambien doesnt really help much anymore. I just feel weird when I take it. Sometimes when I dont take anything to sleep and I manage to fall asleep, I have very vivid dreams and nightmares. Even after taking medicine, I dont usually fall asleep until 4 am and I am up at 8 or 9.
Avatar n tn re worried about withdrawal from ) - I know xanax valium and klonopin all can work in place of ambien so can benadryl (better off with benadryl if you can but having a backup plan doesn't hurt) If I were you I would stop taking ambien as often as possible if you're still on it , do not consider rehab if you cannot afford it you'll survive I can say this I had some odd problems but I didn't even realize it was withdrawal until I thought about it ( like loss of appetite for
Avatar f tn Has tried ambien, then ambien with tylenol pm (for the benadryl), then ambien with just benadryl, then trazadone 50mg, and now temazepam 15mg. Nothing works. He falls a sleep for an hour or so, and that's it. He's an absolute wreck. Have any of you had severe sleeping problems? Anything work?? It's hard enough dealing with tx, but add no sleep, and it's just impossible... Thanks for any suggestions you can give.
Avatar m tn I have a problem staying a sleep also, or I did. I went to the health food store and I'm taking valerian and time released melatonin together and it seems to work. If I wake in the middle of the night I can go back to sleep with no problem. I use to take prescription sleep medications but they quit working and my doctor wanted to put me on valium but I didn't want to take them.
12796163 tn?1436135189 Mine told me benadryl or ambien as well, and for me if I don't get enough sleep my anxiety jumps through the roof, so I took a small dose of benadryl both times I needed help sleeping to keep my sanity for the baby
480448 tn?1426948538 t rare to find people who use more than one sleep aid together, like Ambien and Benadryl. That can produce diasastrous results. Also, too many people are Rx'd a sleep aid for far too long, which actually worsens insomnia to the max. Sleep aids are designed to be used for short intervals. I would recommend, as a safeguard, that the FDA pushed for warnings placed on OTC sleep aids, such as Benadryl, Z-Quil, and the like, not to mix meds.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken ambien or ambien cr while pregnant? If yes, how do you like it and does it keep you asleep throughout the night?
4165941 tn?1353988628 Id call the doc and ask about Tylenol pm bc it just had a recall I'm pretty sure
10515800 tn?1419227034 I feel the same way! I took Tylenol extra strength and Benadryl.. doctor said I could.. but I feel like I'm high.. I feel like a terrible momma..
Avatar f tn Depends on everyone. My mom took it. She hallucinated, sleep walked and sleep drove. My husband took it. He rambled and talked all night and didn't remember a bit of it the next day, but he was tired all day. I took it a long time ago and I didn't care for it. It made me feel stoned and sick and also tired the next day. I'd probably try benadryl instead. That stuff knocks me out.
Avatar f tn I took ambien and it helped me:)just be careful cause ambien can cause you to do weird things if you don't sleep!
9055982 tn?1414980421 You should not take ambien when pregnant... I am a pharmacy tech and unless it is medically necessary you should not be taking it while pregnant. You can take benadryl though, that should put you right to sleep. Ambien can pass through the placenta and cause respiratory problems for baby...
Avatar n tn My doctor had me on 10 mg Ambien and my body got used to it and it became in affective. He has prescribed up to 2 mg of Ativan and taken me of the Ambien. So far, taking the full 2 mg will get me to sleep, but it sure takes a long time, 2 hours or more.
1737879 tn?1386202314 I tried taking 3 Benadryl the other night and nothing. before I started ambien 2 Benadryl would knock me out cold. That was also before I knew about the stage 3c ovarian cancer.
Avatar m tn I got off Hydros 10 month ago and the insomnia was the thing that lasted the longest. I went on Ambien and then had to go through getting off it. I think that what I finally realized was that I was just going to have to get through the insomnia as another stage. I know it's hard but I promise it will pass. I take 3 benadryl and one of the Sleep MD's every night and usually I sleep pretty good. You can get Sleep MD at Walmart.
Avatar f tn I take benadryl if I need help sleeping. 50mg at night does the trick. Im not sure how safe ambien is while prego, but I know benadryl is safe!
Avatar f tn I have to work this morning at 7 and I could not fall asleep. I took 25 mg of benadryl at 8, one more at 9 and finally when I couldn't sleep by 11 I took 2 more! What a night! I feel asleep sometime after that. I am 11 weeks pregnant and I have major insomnia, especially if I know I have to work the next morning. I am scared to death now thats its morning that I may have done something to the baby because of taking 100 mg to get to sleep.
Avatar f tn Have you tried also taking Tylenol before bedtime, to keep the pain from waking you up? I tried Ambien and Ambien CR, I sleep well with it but it gives me horrible day-long headaches the next day so I've stopped taking it. I take a Clonazepam and a Benadryl before bed, Tylenol too if I think I need it, and sleep pretty well most of the time. Lately the dreams have been wild, though!
Avatar f tn Call your doctor! There is an adjustment period for Lexapro, but this sounds like it's more than that. It may not be the right medication for you. Xanax will relax you, but I wouldn't add Benadryl to the Ambien. Talk to your doctor and make sure he realizes how bad this is for you. I hope you feel better, and let us know what he advises you to do.
Avatar f tn Hi Lynne, I was prescribed Xanax (alprazolam) for anxiety as well as Ambien (zolpidem) for sleep. I didn’t use the Ambien much, and although it was very effective, insomnia wasn’t an issue for me.
Avatar f tn I sometimes have a hard time going to sleep during the day. My last pregnancy I took Ambien but want to avoid it this pregnancy. As i became too dependent on it and baby didn't move much due to taking it. He also came a month early. I dont think it was because of Ambien but i just dont wanna take that chance again. A friend told me melatonin is all natural and i should try that. Has anyone taken it while pregnant. Im 13 weeks if that makes a difference.
Avatar n tn I don't believe Ambien is chemically addictive but I'm really not sure. It can absolutely be psychologically addictive. Do a google search for it and you'll be suprised at the info you find. I took Ambien as a teenager and it made me feel like I was tripping out on acid - never liked it.
Avatar f tn I have tried benadryl, ambien, triazolam for my insomnia. Currently taking clonazepam daily for anxiety. What other meds can I discuss with my doctor which are indicated for insomnia. Ambien did absoutley nothing for me. Benadryl can sometimes have the opposite effect on me and have me tossing and turning when I take more than 50 mg.'s. Since I am already taking a benzodiazepine I don't want to take another.
Avatar m tn From what Ive been told, Tylenol (Acetaminophen) is one of the worst things you can take when it comes to your liver. Im pretty sure the Rx drugs Ambien and Lunesta are both easier on the liver. The only downside of course being they are quite habit-forming.
