783159 tn?1236291818 I am now on amaryl and get no side effects from it. But a lot of people are on metformin. Since it makes your stomach loose, you lose weight from it. And it controls the sugar level. Why don't they list it?
Avatar f tn I have had Type 2 diabetes since October 07. I was put on Amaryl then and now am also on Metformin. I have since gained almost 5-8 pounds. Is this normal? I can't find this listed as a side effect in the drug info. I am about 20 pounds overweight and have been trying to lose that to help with the diabetes. I have a healthy diet and try to exercise as much as I can. I also have Crohn's disease (which may have contributed to the onset of diabetes), so heavy exercise is out for me.
Avatar f tn There are six classifications of oral diabetes medications sold in the USA with several drugs listed under each. Amaryl and Diamicron MR are listed as Sulfonylureas yet appear to affect your grandmother differently. Everybody is different; one drug may cause discomfort in one patient yet it does not in another.
Avatar m tn I also have congestive heart failure and diabetes. Just wanting to know what I can do to improve the kidney function or at least slow the progression of the disease. I have an appt. with a kidney dr. but not for a month yet. Would appreciate all input and your experiences with this. GFR 38 and creatinine 1.4.
Avatar n tn I am 42 years old Diabetic for 5 years on Metformin 500mg XL and Amaryl 2 mg. My blood sugars are not controlled. Fasting in 140 s and postprandial 300s. I am following diabetic diet and doing regular exercise/ What is the next step I should do. Please advise. My recent A1C is 8.5. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I have been controlling my type 2 diabetes with actos, lipitor, lisinopril, amaryl, and metfirman for the last 2 years. Recently, i was laying down and when I got up I felt my neck grinding. A few days later I noticed my tonuge was numb and tingling. then I noticed my right eye and right side of my face and head was numb. I have been having reduced mucle movement on that side. I do not have insurance and am unable to see a doctor. I get my diabetic medical treatment at a clinic.
Avatar n tn I've been dealing with gerd issues for the last half year. Colonoscopy and endoscopy were negative. I did do a series of rolling barium stomach xray which did show my stomach was on a roller coaster ride. I've been on most of the meds for gerd, from Zantac to Nexium to Lansoprazole to Pantoprazole. In December I started to develope numbness in my left foot and right hand. (Last night I noticed my left anke was swollen.
Avatar n tn If in fact you are a type 1 diabetic, you should not be taking Amaryl. I would say to find yourself a new doctor if he/she thinks that Amaryl is appropriate for juvenile diabetes. But, perhaps there is something I don't know. Otherwise, just cautiously play with your carbohydrate intake and your insulin dosages. Yes, I agree that a doctor should be consulted about this at first, but eventually you should be running the show.
466024 tn?1208320081 As far as the Effexor side effects go, the first week or two it really mellows you out and yes, you do sleep a little more, at least it affected me that way. I am now on 75 milgrams and after a couple of weeks you settle into your old routine. Effexor has worked great for me, especially with the racing thoughts and anxiety.
Avatar m tn I've never taken it, but these are side effects you can get from almost any antidepressant. I'd probably listen to your endocrinologist. But you have to taper off this med slowly, not just quit, if you decide to do that. One of the problems a lot of people have is taking drugs for their side effects. Trazadone isn't a sleep remedy, but it had the unwanted side effect of making people very sedated.
Avatar n tn I have Diabetes the doctor has given me NEOGAB 100 mg at bed time .. what are the side effects ?
709686 tn?1277432159 I understand that we all can experience different side effects to certain meds but was hoping someone could tell me what, if any, side effects they experienced while taking Prilosec or Zegerid. Both meds are basically Omeprazole. I also noticed that, in my opinion, my doctor had me on WAY TOO MUCH. I was prescribed 40mg twice a day..EVERY DAY! I've seen that the most common script is written for 20mg a day for two weeks.
Avatar m tn I am a diabetic 2 since last 30 years.I take 8mg of Amaryl in the morning and 2 to 4mg in the evening (prescribed by an Internist 14 years ago). I also take Metformine 1000mg once in the morning and once in the evening. My last HbA1c (in February,2009) was 126 ( 7.00 mol/lit.) I was asked to see a diabetic nurse (as a normal routine) and she has aproblem with the dose of drugs that I take and advises me to shift to insulin. The doctors did not have any problem with my medication though.
Avatar f tn seek immediate medical attention if you develop any serious symptoms or side effects. and that these side effects may only occur infrequently, BUT SOME MAY BE FATAL. would this statement not really get you thinking.I never had any serious deseases but thought that the hep c would kill me. how irronic. those serious side effects are all that occur in our bodies, for some of us. I never experienced any thing like this before on the treatment.
Avatar m tn Hi there. The side effects associated with the use of pregabalin are dizziness, somnolence, tremor and ataxia, peripheral edema, weight gain, hypoglycemia, dry mouth, increased appetite, vomiting and flatulence. Ocular side effects include visual field changes, reduced visual acuity, blurred vision, otitis media and tinnitus, angioedema with respiratory compromise has been reported, dyspnea, urinary incontinence, myasthenia, arthralgia, myalgia, etc.
Avatar f tn thanks for you response. I didn't really feel anything but then again I'm not sure. I did fill it again and started yesterday. I guess I always thought I was taking too much meds. I have 2 dif meds for diabetes and I also take ambien at night to sleep. I have a hard time sleeping through. I just thought if I eliminated one med it would be that much less. I think I was wrong because I was in tears yesterday and at the store while I was in line picking up the celexa.
Avatar f tn There are many drug company sponsored web sites wanting one [and some doctors] to believe higher than normal A1c and/or glucose levels are OK when in fact it induces diabetes side effects. The higher your levels makes one require higher medication dosage and/or additional medication to help lower the levels. Bottom line results is the more meds one needs the more profit $$ for the drug companies, the higher your daily glucose levels the more pronounced diabetes side effects become.
Avatar f tn After being off the actos (I still take amaryl and lisinopril) for 3 months I still feel occasional bloating and pain on left side but now I feel like something stuck in my throat. I don't have any trouble swallowing saliva or food/drinks. I have been to a gastro doctor who scoped me and only found in my colon a few internal hemorroids and nothing in my throat or stomach but mild inflammation in upper duodenum. He prescribed nexium.
