are there any alternatives to removing the uterus if you are suffering from endometriosis with heavy bleeding and possible fibroies? What if you really want a baby?
I have a large fibroid which needs to be removed. I have fear of surgery, just the word gets me into panic. I am losing my mind trying to find gynecological surgeon that I can trust.
Ladies who undergone hysterectomy or similar procedure, and happy with your surgeon, please help me with referrals! I would prefer Cedars Sinai, but any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!
in 2007 I had serous-mucinous borderline ovarian cancer mass removed. adhesions to bowel. no implants. f/u now every 6 mos. w/transvaginal u/s and abdominal u/s. brac1 and 2 are negative. no sx. i am 50 in in menopause. My prior gynonc was ok to watch and monitor-he moved out of state. My new gynonc wants to do hysterectomy. WIth the low recurrence rate of this type, are there any alternatives to hysterectomy?
I am a very healthy 46 year old. I have 3 children and don't want anymore. I have had the mirena in for 10 years now and was looking for advice on a possible hysterectomy. I've only once had slight endometriosis before I started having my babies, over 17 years ago. No history of cancer, no heavy bleeding, no fibroids etc. I also haven't noticed any drastic menopause symptoms - no sweats, no mood swings etc.
I suggest talking to your doctor, trying to see a pain specialist, and perhaps suggesting a higher dose of pain meds in the extended release version, so you only have to take one in the morning and one in the night. That should at least releive your pain for now. I would also ask about lookibng into other causes for your back and hip pain. Lastly, I would try, one last time, hormones to stop your period completly until September.
) Forget about the whole inconveinience of having a heavy period,wearing the disposable incontinence pads to bed, the overnights for the daytime, (tampons wont stay in) not wanting to leave the house because of leaks, etc...having to run to the toilet because you can feel the flood of clots rushing through... Right now I am dealing with losing 10 to 15 days of my month due to being anemic. Even taking the extra iron, the first day of my period and I cannot think, have no energy.
I think anything stronger would have to be prescribed by your doctor. If it's been a week and you're still having that much pain, you should call your doctor any way.
I have no pain meds at all. I want to be off of them for good. But, the devil In my head is still letting me know that I need them. I went through 8 years of back pain before I started with hydros. I have tried everything else that is OTC, just didn't help me. I've always been the sole supporter for my kids when they were growing up and have been a strong woman. This is one situation I don't know how to handle.
One may wish to pursue further evaluaton with MRI of the the pelvis without and with contrast. Chief diagnostic concern is that of the right ovarian neoplasm.
Also, when they called to tell me the results they said one reason they MRI was needed was because the fibroids were blocking the view on the ovaries and it was hard to get a good view of it.

5/16 another ultrasound and the thickening is happening again, Doc said I need a hysterectomy but I want to know if there are any other alternatives to another surgery? I am PR positive so that leaves that option out for me.
I have been taking pills since 2004 I started out with one 7.5 hydrocodone to work an 8 hour shift and it ended up in no time being 2 then 3 then 4 then after a couple years I graduated to oxycodone. It started with the with the 5's then straight to the 10's I am up to any where from 10-15 10's a day when I can get them.

t be ruled out without proper testings. More than likely, the thickening is due to your fibroids (making the walls of the uterus thicker than those without them). So, it's likely that they are looking for a study group that is comprised of women who have less thickened uterine walls. That's why my question of what they are studying.

There are some resources out there about the lifelong functions of the female organs and alternatives to hysterectomy if you want to do some additional research. I hope this helps you make a decision. Don't allow yourself to be rushed into any surgical procedure since you are stuck with the results, both good and bad. Of course, you need to make sure you maintain adequate iron levels.
