Common Questions and Answers about Allergy or sinus infection

allergies

Avatar n tn s of different types did not cure infection problems. They failed! Bacterial infection, or the bug that causes it becomes very smart making a biofilm as to protect itself then being resistant to the antibiotics. I've learned to buy 100% grade pure cranberry juice in an organic food section, or health store. It is very sour so you might want to mix it half glass each with 100% cherry juice.

7892775 tn?1395673991 I can relate.. I got a head cold that turned into a sinus infection and ear infection... you can take amoxicillin while pregnant... I was given it... if you get an ear infection though they cant give you anything for the pain-- it *****!
Avatar f tn So I went to the docs and I have a sinus infection. I feel like crap!!
Avatar m tn Clear mucous is allergy drainage. Green mucous would be a sinus infection, and yellow is usually considered a cold although acid reflux can cause yellowish mucous as well. I would recommend that you start with a saline sinus rinse. The NeilMed bottle runs about $12 at most pharmacies in the US. There is also a generic bottle available now, but I haven't compared its fuction to the NeilMed.
Avatar n tn I have a sinus infection and I had for years. I am taking Claritan and other other the counter medicine. Could you recommend something for me. Right now I have no insurance.
Avatar n tn Three days ago I started feeling a scratchy sore throat. The next day it continued. The following day the sore throat was gone and nasal congestion started. Lots of pressure around the nose and headaches in my forehead. I am now sneezing like crazy and blowing my nose alot. All mucous is clear and I have no fever. Can't decide if this is a sinus infection or just a cold.
Avatar f tn For 15 or more years, I've alwayas had what I believe to be sinus infections. Right now I am suffering from clear constant/drip runny nose, sore throat, mild cough, pain and pressure in my face and ears. My throat, nose, ears and eyes are also itchy. my nose is completely plugged. i don't have a fever now and never get them. Anyway, when I feel like this (usually about 4 x's a year) I go to an urgent care.
Avatar m tn Also, I get real bad pressure on the bridge of my nose between my eye brows like it may bust or something...the pressure goes with my pulse. Do you know what could be causing this congestion or pressure? I don't want a nose vessel busted open...thanks for any info! I will reply god bless!
Avatar f tn the blind swab or Endoscopic or sinus aspirate can be cultured to rule out secondary bacterial infection. Plain sinus films and sinus CT may show sinus fluid levels if present. Usual treatment lining consists of following steps and mentioned drugs should only be taken after consultation from physician. - Analgesics such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories and acetaminophen are recommended for inflammation relief. - Mechanical irrigation with buffered, hypertonic saline nasal spay.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms could be due to a post nasal drip, which can cause a chronic irritation in the throat. This could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens. These are substances like pollen, dust, animal dander, certain foods, insect venoms and certain medications.
894112 tn?1241554104 Every thing seemed to be going ok till about a month ago. I have had a sinus infection for about a month now. I have been on four different kinds of antibiotics and I am on allergy meds and none of them have worked. They did do a ct scan and it shows that all my sinus cavities are full. Does any one know what might be going on?
Avatar f tn ve experienced resolution from a sinus infection without even using antibiotics with diligent saline washes. I got rid of all that ugly green stuff with the saline washes and got rid of the sinus infection before it got out of control--all without even having to see the doctor or using antibiotics. My conservative, but early, treatment saved me from having to take antibiotics. My doctor only knew about the sinus infection after it was gone.
Avatar n tn My previous sinus infections symptoms always included nasal congestion which I am not experiencing at all. Debating a trip to dr. or popping sinus headache medicine.
Avatar f tn Sounds like a sinus infection and you may need an antibiotic. Make sure you take probiotics if they prescribe an antibiotic for a bacterial sinus infection. Mayos clinic states that 80% of sinus infections are caused by fungus (yeast) and yeast responds to rain. My head is like a freaking barometer, lol. Probiotics might do the trick on their own.
Avatar m tn First of all you need to find out whether you really have fungal infection or not. Smell of mushrooms could be due to old pus and secretions in the nasal sinuses or even due to post nasal drip. Chronic sinusitis is often allergic and can be due to mold infection too. A damp wall in the house, carpets, and ACs are all potential sources of mold. Please consult an allergy specialist. You may need to take the allergy test. Chronic sinusitis can also be due to EBV infection.
2088782 tn?1333221786 I think you might have an abscessed tooth or a sinus infection. It's most likely a dental thing. Milk allergy is very common, and certainly stopping it is logical. If it is your sinuses that are the cause of your problem, then stopping dairy will bring you relief. There are many good alternatives now. If you are not allergic to nuts, you might try almond milk or the new one that is a mix of almond and coconut milk.
Avatar f tn Clariton is an antihistamine that has something in it to keep you from getting drowsy (antihistamines normally make you sleepy and can be used for insomnia). I suspect it is the additive in the Clariton that gave you the headache. Some people react badly to it. If you want to try a standard antihistamine get Benadryl. If your symptoms go away then you know it is an allergy and not an infection. If it doesn't work, go to a doctor.
Avatar f tn The apparent response, of the malodorous material in your nose to antibiotics, strongly suggests that infection was a factor in that acute illness, and it is possible to have (mostly) low grade infection of the sinuses or nose, with a normal or near normal sinus CT Scan. Bacteria are the most common cause of sinusitis but fungi can cause either recurrent infectious or allergic disease of the sinuses and you might consider requesting a second, ENT opinion.
Avatar m tn I am not sure if the cyst would be causing all this eye pressure and sinus pressure on both sides or if there is another explanation like a sinus infection that possibly needed stronger antibiotics? Please let me know if you have any help, I am desperate.
Avatar f tn Other wise it can be a sign of upper respiratory tract infection or sinus infection secondary to influenza virus A and B, parainfluenza, coronavirus and human metapneumovirus. This can be complicated by bacterial infections. If bacterial infection is suspected then appropriate antibiotics will help. Otherwise pain killers against prescription will give you quiet a relief for your headache. If you are having sign's of allergy then oral anti histaminics will relieve the allergic symptoms.
Avatar f tn I suspect you have an infection, or an allergic reaction, possibly to a fungus. The only way you'll know for sure at this point is to do a Sinus Flush, which will clear out your sinuses altogether, including your upper sinuses that the saline rinses never reach. The hypertonic saline should also shrink your turbinates and get some more drainage. If it doesn't work after 2 weeks, stop. Avoid getting your turbinates messed with unless it's the last resort. http://www.medhelp.
