Common Questions and Answers about Allergy kids network

allergies

Avatar n tn "The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network" has lots of information, most of it aimed towards kids. I just checked (it's the dot org site) and they have cookbooks as well as recipes. BTW...I'm allergic to soy and have problems both with food and topical. Soy is in lots of shampoos (not sure about baby shampoos), lotions, soaps, ink etc. I can always tell when I'm using something I shouldn't because it makes me itch like crazy...then I get a rash.
3107154 tn?1361917605 To all- The one issue that we have for now is that my kids are insured through a NJ Medicaid HMO that has no out of network benefits and there are no out of state providers. I've heard that you can request authorization to go out of network but the HMO has to first convince the Neurosurgeon to accept their really low Medicaid reimbursement (which I can't imagine happening).
Avatar m tn People actually develop an allergic reaction to cigarette smoke, and even without it not having clean air can aggravate the sinuses and lungs. However, if you take a person with an allergy out of the environment of that allergy their symptoms get better and if they're away from it long enough the symptoms usually disappear. Cigarettes are also known to cause havoc on a persons immune system, making it weaker...
Avatar n tn Lookout for milk hidden in certain products, like candy bars, and processed foods. You can check out the food allergy network for products that are milk free. I wonder if the diarrhea your baby is having is normal. Infants, especially breastfed infants, have very frequent bowel movements. I couldn't change diapers fast enough. If there is no blood present, then I wouldn't worry too much. If you are still concerned, you could have your pediatrition run an analysis on a stool sample.
Avatar m tn what do you do when you find out that you are metal allergic to all 11 coronary stents installed? Stents aren't like hips and knees. Those can be removed if allergic to them. but not stents. Metal allergy to metal implants is nothing new. It's well documented. So why no procedure for stent removal. Not to bright. shouldn't there be formal metal allergy testing before this one product (that can't be removed) is installed?
Avatar f tn I'm considering doing allergy shots for my kids. Has anyone had any success with them? Is it worth the time and effort?
Avatar n tn Bought health insurance for my college grad when she was going to graduate and lose her coverage with my company. I shopped around and when I asked about in-network providers with the company that I chose, they directed me to their website network provider list. The doctor I was most concerned about was listed. Two months later, my daughter had to see the doctor. I accompanied her.
Avatar f tn Who misses the old cartoon network from the 90's?! I miss it so much!! Johnny Bravo, Dexters Lab, 2 Stupid Dogs, Space Ghost, Powerpuff Girls, Freakazoid, Ed Edd & Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog and so on!! Now its mostly stupid crap, I am saddened that my child will be so deprived lol.
Avatar f tn Hi .. have you been to an allergist? Do you have any thoughts on what you may be allergic to? You may be very right bcz sometimes once the allergin is removed the asthma can get better. Have they considered what is called in the States Singulair at all ? It's a asthma prevention med aimed at blocking the leukatrins and works oftentimes with allergy driven asthma or RAD (reactive airway disease).
Avatar f tn I want to know your kids' names and ages! Share about them here... it's always fun to know about these things because sometimes you meet someone on here and don't even think to ask about their families and children. I have two little girls. Elaina is 3 and Abigail is 18 months!!! One is sensitive and one is very independent. One is empathetic and sweet, the other is a goof and clown!
Avatar f tn We wash her hair every night in the shower with kids shampoo and use regular adult conditioner. My only other thought is dry scalp?? Do they make a dry skin kids shampoo? Any other ideas as to what this can be and how I can help her? Thanks!
1900997 tn?1321659956 The gas is still a bit of a hindrance. Usually kids laugh hysterically when someone farts but my kids are so used to me farting that they don't even bat an eyelash anymore. LOL Also, skim milk has a higher lactose content than whole milk. I only get the whole milk. Last week my hubby accidentally grabbed the skim and I ended up having to just throw it away because I couldn't tolerate even a little. You can give the Lactaid tablets or milk a try.
Avatar n tn like so many of these kids find themselves feeling. Network, network, network........reach out to people, get him tested, don't just go with one opinion! Good luck! There is light at the end of the tunnel!
Avatar n tn Allergy shots don’t weaken the immune system. It is the time and again exposure of the body to the allergens and infections that causes a response from the body which weakens the immunity levels. Allergy shots help the body build a type of immunity to specific allergens that eventually can prevent or "block" the allergen from triggering symptoms when you are exposed. So in a way they are useful for the body. I sincerely hope that helps.
921053 tn?1245180795 The Chiari Institute is something I have looked into but they don't take insurance!!! I am a single mom with 3 kids and out of work due to this miserable vertigo!!!! I can't afford that.
1691275 tn?1322327507 m hooked on Klonopin, and, just as with Lyme, seemingly about 1% of doctors understand how nasty and prolonged the withdrawal syndrome can be. However, there is a network of doctors who specialize in Lyme treatment (they call themselves Lyme-literate Doctors or LLMDs) and Lyme patients can seek out an LLMD to receive informed treatment and care. My question is this: is there a Benzo network of any kind? Or anything like it?
Avatar f tn Allergy, maybe the chlorine ,maybe sun block , sounds like an allergy rash , is it only swimming he gets it ?
Avatar f tn Then make sure that dr is in your insurance network. You have to add your baby to your insurance once he is born. I have to add mine within 30 days of his birthday. Yours may be different.
Avatar f tn Peanut allergies are also on the rise in the little ones. Some kids do outgrow certain allergies, but this really does vary from individual to individual. For now, keep peanut products away from him and read labels and watch for warnings. There are labels warning of products that are not peanut products that say that they are made on the same equipment as where peanuts were processed. Be on the alert for this, depending on how severe his allergy is.
Avatar f tn I saw on food network ice cream with salt and vinegar chips, I'm buying them tomorrow lol
Avatar f tn hi there, well we were both at home today and i feel it was the longest day of my life, this morning we spoke about our feelings , he is more worried about how i am going to cope when treatments happen and dealing with the kids, we are very lucky and we have a large network, however i am the type of person to reculse becuase it is to tough, but i understand that this is not going to go away, it is also nice to keep in touch with a network online.
Avatar n tn I actually experience this same thing if I sneeze REALLY hard - like allergy-hard. LOL! All I can think of is that sneezing involves the upper abdominal muscles & diaphragm, which is right on top of the bundle of nerves called the solar plexus. The pain only lasts for the split second those muscles are involved and then it's gone. Does your pain last more than the time of the sneeze? Do you tend to bend your neck and head forward and down during the sneeze?
7928796 tn?1396351929 I used a third party (Larsen Billing) and it cost me $20 but they code everything so insurance pays. My insurance online provider search gave me in network options that were actually covered 100% for certain midwives, but bc I chose out of network my insurance is paying 75%, still not too terribly bad. I absolutely adore my midwife. She's absolutely wonderful! Anyway, I will probably post how my home birth goes sometime btwn now & 42 weeks lol whenever baby decides to come.
Avatar n tn If my doctor thought allergies and sinus was NOTHING, I would be looking for a new doctor. Allergy kids have many issues. You might see if her doctor will give her an inhaler with a spacer that she can use just prior to bedtime when allergy season is worst (Spring when the blooms are on the trees and Fall when the leaves fall off the trees and get wet and moldy). Has she been tested for all the allergies? It's not a bad thing to do esp at age 5.
