Allergy eyes shiners

Common Questions and Answers about Allergy eyes shiners

Avatar n tn People who suffer from nasal allergies may experience darkness and/or swelling underneath one or both eyes on a fairly constant basis. These allergic shiners occur as a result of congestion in the sinuses which slightly affects blood flow. These will disappear once the allergic reaction subsides. If worsening consult your doctor for therapy. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Over the past five years I became allergic to perfumes and other air chemicals and pollutants such as fumes from school bus or chemical plants. Lots of blowing due to sneezing. Itchy eyes and nose to name a few. I have developed dark and thick vertice lines on each sides of my nose. It almost look like I wear glasses but I don't. I have tried the neti pot and allegy medications and nasal sprays that temporarily reduce the discomfort.
284738 tn?1283106819 Allergy testing isn't going to be reliable until she is much older (usually 2+ years). The dark circles can very well be allergic shiners...OR hereditary! My daughter is 2.5 and has them as well. Always has. :( People always ask if she's tired or has been crying! They are much more noticeable when she IS tired, or sick. Hers are hereditary. (thanks to me!
Avatar n tn She was the kid with the dark circles under her eyes (allergy shiners). I read that many kids with behavioral issues suffer from cererbral allergies - makes them feel irritable, or spacey, and unable to handle normal everyday stressors. I also don't let my kids get away with much, but this kid didn't respond to normal discipliine. Unfortunately, she didn't want to stick with the diet (she was a very picky eater and still is).
184342 tn?1282588750 No. Emily began Nasonex at 5-supposedly much better than Flonase for kids. Jake started allergy meds in May at 19 mos. He is taking Singulair and Zyrtec. ENT thinks allergies are causing fluid build-up in his ears, leading to his frequent ear infections. My DH has terrible allergies. Jake's eyes used to just drip tears and he has what they call "allergic shiners" which are big purple bags under his eyes.
Avatar f tn When my allergies are really acting up, I too, sometimes get what the doctors have referred to as "allergy shiners" and have had it happen to only one eye before if that is the side of my sinuses that is the most congested. I'm not exactly sure why it happens, but my guess is that when your sinuses get inflamed and congested that perhaps they kind of press on the blood vessels under the eye and since the skin under your eye is so thin, it looks like a black eye.
Avatar n tn s known as allergic shiners, which are dark circles under the eyes. I know several people with allergies who get very dramatically black under the eyes during their particular allergy season. I really don't know if either HCV or HCV treatment causes black circles, although my under eyes became hollow-looking during treatment.
Avatar n tn She has rings around her eyes which they call allergic shiners. She did gain weight and grow well, surprisingly with what was going on with her. There were multiple things going on with her, so I will keep it simple. Pediatricians said my daughter's eyes looked fine. I, in my gut, knew it wasn't right. She had a speech delay. She developed ADD-ish behavior (i.e.
Avatar m tn They are called allergic shiners. If the swelling is putting pressure inside your nose it can give you a headache and/or earache. What nasal spray did he give you? But to answer you question, yes your symptoms can be because of the swelling in your nose.
Avatar n tn I have been looking on the internet and think that there may be some type of allergy contributing to this. He wakes up many mornings with allergy shiners and is constantly rubbing his nose. He sleeps through the night, but coughs while he's asleep. I need some advice on what to do. Are behavior changes like what he's having normal for a child with his symptoms? I mentioned to his doctor bringing him to an ENT, but he doesn't think that's necessary yet. What should I do?
Avatar m tn For the past 6 months I have been attributing chronic nasal congestion, excessive mucous production, constant throat clearing and allergic shiners to the LA smog. Last week I had a frightening experience early in the morning where My throat suddenly produced a ton of mucous and I felt like I was choking to death or going into anaphylactic shock. I questioned everything I had eaten which wasnt much of anything because it was before breakfast....but I had just brushed my teeth.

Avatar f tn After about 10 minutes it spread to the other side of her face and under her eyes. Now, the rednedd around her face had subsided a little but now her under her eyes are so red that they look purple. THeyare not ithching swollen or tearing any more than usual. A friend of mine said that she look like a zombie. Any one know anything about this.
Avatar f tn Yes the discoloration of the eyes could be due to sinusitis. Allergic shiners are darkness and swelling underneath the eyes caused by sinus congestion. Sinusitis and GERD are two separate entities and are not related. Nasal saline irrigations over the counter like NeilMed or Neti pot are very effective and are used to treat sinusitis. And acid reflux can cause a sensitive tongue. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar f tn Ugh, my youngest son is an allergy sufferer as well. I can always tell when his eyes are itchy and bothering him because they are a little watery. You're your child's advocate and your warning bells say this is not right. So, continue to follow up with this doctor or another if you decide to switch.
