2095738 tn?1339825243 So there's this wasp that's been hanging around me all day and I've never been stung to know if I'm allergic but I know my aunt is. If this thing decides to sting me before my bf gets home and I am allergic will it affect my babies? Or would it depend upon how allergic I am to the sting? I'm hiding in my room now lol but idk what to do if I got stung n had a reaction to it..
Avatar f tn My forehead was very painful and swollen, but after a lot benedryl and prednisone the symptoms on my head resolved in 3 days. However, 7 hours post bee sting I woke up with hives on my legs, butt, back and arms. There were no new foods, medications, or detergents. I did bring a new foster dog into the household 3 weeks prior to the hives but have since then found her a home. I have now had hives every night for 3 weeks, mostly at night but ocassionally during the day.
Avatar m tn I'm hoping someone on this forum knows a lot more than I do about this subject! For question number one, I would talk to a qualified allergist. Your pharmacist may have some answers as well. Question number 2 is still out of the scope of my "practice," but if a person who suffers from anaphylaxis is on a benzo, IMHO, the use of that med will NOT decrease the likelyhood of an anyaphylatic response.
Avatar f tn Hi, Wasps can be nasty. You can have you Dr take a look. I think that usually if it's in the same area that you were stung in (on the same limb) it's called a local reaction and can get quite big. Eyes, mouth are exceptions I think. Of course, do ask your Dr or make an appt as we are not medical professionals -- just a mom with mega experience with my daughters' allergies which include bee sting. It is probably a delayed reaction since it's take overnight to develop.
Avatar f tn So I stepped on a bee and got a sting -_- will it harm my baby?
Avatar f tn Any allergic reaction can cause this....This time of year, it's normally diagnosed as a bee sting, spider bite, or snake bite.....However, if the swelling is excessive, it can effect the throat & respiratory tract and cause suffocation. Snake bites can be fatal...... Give Benadryl (Dose is 1mg. per lb. of body weight) and get to your Vet.......
Avatar f tn I have allergies to bee stings and last week I got stung by one. First time I years! I made a paste with baking soda and water and let the dry up on the sting, tool benadryl immediately after it happened. The stinger was still in so we took it out before we did anything. The nurse said it's okay ands long as your reaction isn't super super terrible and send you into anaphylaxis shock or get infected. To take benadryl as needed or til your symptoms go away. And to soak it in cool water.
1601869 tn?1441310748 Hello I was stung by a bee Saturday. I don't have a small reaction but I also don't go into severe reaction. I normally have swelling, redness, itching, burning, stuff like that after a sting. Well for the last day I am now having severe neausea like I have been up most of the night thinking I'm going to blow chunks but never have.
539780 tn?1213943976 Hi, The familiar symptoms of bee and wasp stings include pain, redness, swelling, and itchiness in the area of the sting. Multiple stings can have much more severe consequences, such as anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction that occurs in hypersensitive persons. Emergency medical kits containing self-administrable epinephrine to counter anaphylactic shock are available for allergic people and should be carried by them at all times.
Avatar n tn also, my bee sting daughter had the same lump for 10days after a bee sting .. so definitely see your Pediatrician and discuss it with him/her, Cheryl WELCOME TO THE COMMUNITY!
168348 tn?1379357075 I agree that allergies are real. I also carry an epi pen, but it's for bee stings. I just think that allergies are over diagnosed. Either that or products have changed and we don't have the tolerances to it. I think many are diagnosed with allergies when perhaps it's more of an intolerance. One of the points I found interesting in the article as well, was that allergies can change. I read somewhere else that our bodies change every 7 years or something?
506903 tn?1211847133 He told me has been doing Bee Sting therapy, and said it is helping him more then the meds did. He said 20 stings a day. YIKES. He said I was more then welcome to comeover and discuss it further or give it a try. I don't know if I could do it. Soif you know anything about this please fill me in.
Avatar m tn I am geeting a pain in my neck/shoulder area that feels like a bee sting the pain comes and goes and feels like it getting worse
Avatar n tn About a week and a half ago, I got stung by a bee, resulting in massive swelling of my big toe. The swelling has since gone down, but the top of my toe now has a large patch of red, wrinkly skin. It feels very "leathery" as well. It is not on the site of the bee sting (I got stung on the bottom of my toe), so I'm pretty sure it has more to do with the swelling than the sting. Do you think this will go away on its own? Or should I be using some sort of lotion or cream?
1331797 tn?1276142331 Wow. Ironic how it is come full circle some ways -- when I inject my Copaxone it feels like a bee sting! But I'm sure this drug helps a hell of a lot more than bee stings!
524243 tn?1212309439 I have a quick question (and I want to see if anyone else has this problem): I am really, really frustrated because for the last month or so, I have been having a "bee sting" sensation all over my body. It started out just around my back, and it has spread everywhere!!! Argh! I had no idea that this was a possible symptom of MS, but when I contacted my Neuro, she said that it was common (that was news to me!). She put me on Neurontin and said that it would help.
Avatar f tn Double puncture-mark, obviously means snake, though in the absence of any other symptoms, I would doubt she has been bitten by a snake, unless it is a non-venomous one.... or signs of a bee sting embedded. Bees leave the sting in, so it does hurt. I know. Because the sting is 'barbed' it's not so easy to just pull out. And doing that can make the inflammation worse.
Avatar m tn Hi, As I understand your body builds antibodies against something you are allergic to, so every time you are exposed to the allergen it builds up and up and up .. that could be why one day it's fine and the next time it's not. Ea exposure increases your risk of reaction. Oftentimes the "first bee sting" isn't an issue, but subsequent ones can be life threatening, etc. . . you may have heard that before .. same premise ..
