I LOVE cats with all my heart but in allergist to them :(((((((((( whenever I'm near them I get hives! My allergies might be getting better but I'm not sure. Also I'm going to be working at a animal shelter soon were I have to be around cats and dogs. So if any1 would know if there something I could do or take besides allergy meds then can u please tell me?

He also coughs just as much at school where there is no animals. I know nothing about allergies so hoping someone could tell me IF it was the cats how long would my son still have the coughing once he was away from the cats? I would think once he was away from the cats his cough would improve within hours if he was allergic?

Ok so I'm 12 weeks pregnant and I've always suffered from allergies must of them ro pollen, dust, mold etc...oh and cats too... I've been having really bad episodes of allergies, and I forgot to ask my doctor about it...I know for sure I can't take my regular medicine, but what can I take?? I have severe allergies, exzema, and asthma, WTH? I was tested for allergies and is highly allergic to cats and dogs. And its off and on allergies that has lasted for yrs... I can not be any were nere cats or dogs... I will have severe huge hives all over my buttocks, & thys. and a few on arms, neck, lower legs, back, stomach, and face. But they love to attack my butt and thys.... Sometimes I even have swollen eyes, ears and lips..... I try to stay away from dogs and cats.....

Ill be 16 weeks tomorrow and I have horrible allergies. My aunt moved back in my house with her two cats that I'm highly allergic to along with my sisters rabbit. Since my sinuses are swollen from the extra blood pumping its been harder to keep them cleaned. Tmi, but I'm a first time mom so I have no idea. Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.

Personally I wouldnt have any of my pets let near my baby because theyre new to the world and it can cause early on allergies and or asthma. But if you want to try it out, I would just keep an eye on the cats when they get close to baby and do my best to teach them that baby isnt a toy or another animal.

Hi all I just found out I'm pregnant and I stopped taking loratadine (aka claritin) for my allergies a few days ago bc I don't want it to do any harm to my baby, and I'm not sure whether or not it would. It's a class b medication which means they haven't done studies which show any harm or safety. The only problem is, when I don't take it I have post nasal drip which drains into my stomach and makes me nauseous.

It seems like Akira has seasonal allergies and dust allergies in addition to her food allergies. Because I really don't want to give her long term steroids, I decided to only give her the 1/4 tablet of Zyrtec that the vet told me to give her before. 7+4 weeks and I started getting a nasty cold which started because of my allergies my fiances parents and sister have multiple cats each which I am very allergic to. And it just continued I had a bit of a scratchy throat but still have a ton of pressure in my face and and runny nose. Any advice?

Some vets will recommend benadryl to cats with allergies. Usually, those allergies are presented by a cat scratching, not a swollen throat and paw. Talk to the vet first.
