Common Questions and Answers about Allergies eyes skin

Avatar n tn It could be allergies, although an good eye doctor should be able to diagnose eye allergy symptoms. Did you see an opthamologist or an optometrist? An opthamologist is a medical doctor specializing in the eye. An optometrist only does vision testing for glasses. I find using contact saline solution as an eye wash and an antihistamine eye drop are very helpful. I like Zaditor for my eye drop and use an antique eye wash cup to wash my eyes twice daily. I hope that helps.
Avatar f tn Hello, One of the reasons for blood shot itchy eyes can be seasonal allergies or hay fever.Even allergies due to contact dermatitis with the eye makeup can cause such symptoms. It can also be due to blepahritis or eye infections. You can take OTC antihistaminics like benadryl or Claritin. Eye drop versions of cromolyn sodium and antihistamines are available for itchy, bloodshot eyes and these can also be tried. Also maintain hygiene and avoid rubbing the eyes.

Avatar n tn I think my 4 year old male Boston Terrier may have seasonal allergies. Just in the past few weeks he's been having trouble, and I understand the pollen count is very high in my area this spring, so my husband and I thought it's possible he's got allergies just like we do. His eyes run, and sometimes it's watery and sometimes it's a kind of gel-like goop.

Avatar f tn I've never had bad allergies before. In fact I would only sneeze once in a blue moon. But for a few weeks now my eyes have been itching so bad and I would itch them to the point that I've already had two infections of my eyelid on the left side.It would swell my eyelid almost till my eye was shut. I have a pretty bad history of staph infections. Also the roof of my mouth has been itching and when it starts to itch it will get these hard lumps on one side at a time.
Avatar m tn m 22 years old now, and ever since I can remember to about 12 or 13 I have always had severe dark circles under my eyes. My skin has always been very white and pale and many portions of my body I can see my veins in my arms, green, blue etc. I have read on a lot of forums that under eye circles can be caused by dehydration, malnutrition, vitamin deficiencies, sleep deprivation, etc.
Avatar f tn Anyone else have their allergies act crazier than usual while pregnant? I'm about 4/5 weeks and I'm sneezing a lot, my nose is stuffy & runny,I'm coughing and I just feel blah! I was taking Zyrtec and Nasonex spray, but recently stopped when I discovered I was preggo. I just got benadryl, gunna give it a shot tonight. Avatar f tn I am 38 and this has never happened before. I actually went into anaphelactic shock. My lips swelled up, eyes swelled, stomach ache, skin/body burned, and my throat started closing. I was taken by ambulance to the ER. I was just reading symptoms for Dysautonomia and one said 'allergies'. Could this have been because of my POTS?
Avatar f tn This test is painless, in which a very small amount of certain allergens are pricked into the surface of your skin. If you have allergies, just a little swelling will occur where the allergen was introduced. Reactions occur within about 15 minutes. If needed more sensitive intradermal tests will be used in which a small amount of allergen is injected within the skin. Based on this he may plan for immunotherapy. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Hi, Dark circles under the eyes are most often caused by allergies, illness, a lack of sleep, or heredity. If your dark circles are caused by heredity, you may find that they are almost impossible to completely eliminate. In the morning, wash your face with cold water to help blood vessels constrict. Then, apply an eye cream that contains Retinol and vitamin K. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to prevent the vitamin deficiencies that can affect your skin’s appearance.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm 22 years old and I have certain allergies like Astama and mild Eczema...The whites of my eyes are discoloured..they are partially white and light brownish. They get very itchy at times. I know that it's due to my allergies but I would really like to get the sclera of my eyes white again. What can I do or use?
Avatar f tn I recently started having significant under eye swelling. I've had "bags" under my eyes before, but this is different. It's more like fluid filled "sacs". My nose also looks swollen. This will reduce slightly as the day progresses, but not completely. My allergies are under control, so I am concerned. The swelling seems to blur my vision slightly and my eyes have been watering more despite having my allergies under control.
535822 tn?1443976780 by Longevity Science. It is all natural and helps with dry eyes, allergies and even slows down the development of cataracts. You put two drops per day in each eye. The main ingredient is listed in the inactive ingredients due to the dang FDA ruling, but it works just the same, it is N-acetyl-carnosine. You can get it through Emerson Ecologics, the number is 1-800-654-4432. The cost is 34.95. My naturopath prescribed it for me. Here is the website for it.
Avatar f tn First of all it doesnt look like a skin disease but rather a benign hyperpigmentation. Have you had irritation around your eyes in the past? Sensitive skin especially around the eyes? Have you been exposing your self in the sun without sunglasses and face suncream? Its hard to apply depigmenting agents in that area. If you are a smoker try to cut down on it and try to take Vitamin C supplements ( not more than 500mg pill ). Did it happen after a pregnancy or a hormonal event?
Avatar f tn is there any product or treatment that you can recommend to reduce or lighten the "raccoon" appearance or "dark circles" around your eyes that African Americans and people of darker skin often get as they age? My are horrible! No amount of sleep or concealer seem to help. In the last two years it has gotten noticeably worse. This discussion is related to Acne Treatment for African-American skin.
Avatar f tn Hello, Red rash around the eyes, stuffing and dripping up of nose, appearance of itchy hives now and then and itching of the eyes are all symptomatic of allergies. From the symptoms the possibility of hay fever cannot be ruled out. When a person with allergies breathes in an allergen such as pollen or dust, antibodies are produced. When the antibodies are stimulated by pollen and dust, histamine and other chemicals are released. This causes itching, swelling and mucus production.
Avatar f tn Our girl Abby, 55 lb German-Australian Sheppard mix has been to the vet three times in the past year for one ear infection and two separate incidents of skin rashes. The vet diagnosed allergies, all treated and cleared. The last visit a couple of months ago vet said we can start with otc cortisone if rashes return and see if it helps, but if more frequent episodes then consider going back for prescription strength meds.

Avatar n tn Many of us know the misery of allergies all too well -- the sneezing, runny nose and postnasal drip; watery, itchy eyes, ears, nose, and throat. Your doctor will listen to you but do remember they are not specialist in Allergies. You can talk to your doctor about skin Allergies. He may check your previous medical records to see what you where on before. However, he may tell you that you need to see a skin specialist or diagnosis.
Avatar f tn Sometime eye drops resembling tears can be put in the eyes to bring relief. It can also be due to allergies. You can consult an eye specialist and check this out. Take care!

Avatar f tn t put your hands near your face or eyes especially after touching any place in the house. When your eyes start to itch, wash them out with water, please, for the love of pete, don't rub your eyes with your fingers/hands when they start to itch. The reason for not letting the cat near your face is because many people including me have asthma attacks from the allergy. Another thing, if your friend don't mind, is to buy a shampoo that solves the saliva problem.
