Common Questions and Answers about Aldara side effects medication

aldara

Avatar f tn My doctor put me on Aldara, but I am having SERIOUS side effects. It says for me to put it on the area once a night before I go to bed, but I started having redness and irritation. I thought that just meant that it was working, so I was off it for a day and went back on it for 2. It happened again, so I went off it for 2 days. Then I went back on it and tried to stay on it, hoping that the cream would help somehow, and the sores just kept getting bigger.
Avatar n tn Why wouldnt his doctor pick a more conservative commonly used method over a medication with lots of adverse side effects? Perhaps my boyfriend lying to me/maybe his derm isnt being honest with him. There are a lot of possibilities here and I simply would like your expert opinion so I know whether or not I have possibly been exposed to genital warts.
Avatar m tn Seeing as though the FDA would never approve anything that would harm you, correct? Ever read the numerous side effects listed on a package of Aldara?
Avatar m tn Still not sure if this is due to the medication. Other than that I haven't noticed any effects or any type of side effects. Everything I read online says the areas should be very red/inflamed. Has anyone had a positive experience with Imiquimod without showing many effects? Should I just give it some more time or is it apparent that Imiquimod isn't going to work for me? Wondering if Podofilox or the stronger 5% Aldara cream would have been a better choice.

Avatar f tn Hello, Fever is a rare side effect of using the topical cream Aldara and is found in 1% users. You can talk to your doctor and get the topical medication changed. For the fever take antipyretic and apply cold compresses. Also look out for other side effects like itching, burning, pain, headaches, sinusitis etc. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed aldara for the treatment of genital warts about two weeks ago and have used it as directed by my provider. The patch of lesions is located on the shaft of my penis, are small, relatively flat, and 1-2 cm in size. I started aldara therapy roughly two to three weeks after onset of lesions. My only concern is that the Aldera isn't triggering an immune response like it should. I have no erythema, edema or any other typical "side effects".
Avatar n tn yes maybe a reaction to the oinment i was using thank you for the advice
Avatar n tn I've been to a dermatologist and I got my biopse done, and they told me I have flat warts (on my face), I don't have a big quantity but I can notice that every month a new one comes out. They told me to treat them with a medication called Aldara, but it is very expensive, so I bought a generic medication from India, which is called Imiquad manufactured by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals. I am using it 3x a week. I know the treatment is slow and that I am not going to have fast results at all.
Avatar n tn My question is to whether or not they can just go away on their own. The 2 medications I was recommended Aldara and Condylox both seem to have some painful side effects. 1. What has anyone done beside those medications? 2. Is there any harm in leaving them alone and just keeping clean and taking baths? PS. I am tested negative for HIV to rule that out.
Avatar f tn Many people say they don't have success with it but they don't do the entire 16 weeks or be patient with it to work. Although it doesn't work for some and side effects can be bothersome. In the end if it works i think its a really good medication since it helps in the long run. There are a lot of people who don't have a recurrence of genital warts and for you to have one after a year with only one treatment is pretty good.
Avatar n tn I am seeing the doctor next week to get a referral to a dermatologist and if not laser removal, I will bear the side effects of Acutane to not go through the hell of them spreading all over my face like last time. I hope this helps you and others on this thread.
Avatar f tn this all began after using aldara cream he was given for a tiny wart on his hand that was already sprayed and clearing up and come to find out it has very scary side effects ....The other night he had strange hot/cold uneven body temperature symptoms. His cheek was hot and the other was cold. This was for about 8 hours all throughout the night. The next morning we went to the ER but it went away and they disregarded it all together..When we got home one hand was hot and the other hand was cold.
Avatar n tn I had one larger wart on the right side of the shaft of my penis, sort of where the hair ends. This particular one was a slightly raised lump of grey skin, not cauliflower in appearence. I also had a cluster of 3-6 very small warts on the left side of my penis, again near to where the hair ends.
Avatar m tn Different treatments work for different people, aldara has so far worked for me. The only thing with the cream is it causes unpleasant side effects if you use too much or if you use it too often. It is a cream that is used for skin cancer so it is strong and the genital area is very sensitive. Som people get no symptoms some people get them all. For me I had soreness and redness, it was really quite painful so I had to take a break from treatment.
Avatar n tn So now, I'm wondering if the itching is related to one of these meds. The only reported side effects of aldara, however, is itching at the spot where it's applied, and I had that, but it felt different from the non-specific, random itching I now feel throughout the day. I've discontinued the aldara. I also had the SK's lasered off the week before (as the aldara was too slow and only worked on a few bumps).
Avatar m tn Does anybody think I would be overdoing it by adding Goldenseal to my current daily regimen? Obviously, negative side-effects are not welcomed. Also, does anyone think I may be doing too much already? Should I lessen my daily regimen of vitamins/supplements? Like I said, I want to fight the HPV virus internally but I don't want to overdo it if it will harm my body. None of the supplements I'm currently taking have had any noticeable side-effects on my body.
Avatar f tn they asked how the Aldara was working and I told them I had not noticed any change nor any of the side effects generally associated with it. I told them I wanted to pursue the freezing and they said someone would call me back. Nobody has yet. I have an appointment with a dermatologist (following your advice) Thursday and I let them know that I expect to have them frozen that day. They were very nice and understanding on the phone (I am still quite emotional about this).
Avatar m tn 2 Therapy with cytokines is, however, parenteral and is associated with unwanted side-effects. Imiquimod (Aldara, R-837, S-26308) and resiquimod (R-848, S-28463) are members of a new group of low molecular weight compounds, the imidazoquinolinamines3 (Figure). These have been shown to have properties as immune response modifiers in vitro and in vivo, and demonstrate antiviral and anti-tumour activity via endogenous cytokine production.
Avatar f tn If it worked for you great but it is unwise to take drugs for other disorders and potentially incur side effects for no reason. This is the link to the actual zovirax website and don’t see even them, the actual company indicating it is helpful with HPV. http://www.zovirax.com/prescribing-information-for-zovirax2.aspx I’m glad it worked for you but it is entirely possible your immune system helped you out!
Avatar m tn The problem of delivery into the hepatocytes and possible side effects are likely to delay or kill this interesting effort to combat Hepatitis B.
Avatar m tn This strong IV treatment is known to have many side effects, and as a result, the medication is administered slowly and it may take longer than two weeks to eradicate the candidiasis. o Candida is a genus of yeasts, many species of which can be found living in most humans and animals. In most cases, Candida (usually Candida albicans in mammals) is commensal, meaning it lives with the other flora in the gut without causing any particular harm.
Avatar m tn How about side effects after a liver transplant not afraid of those? You have e antigen positive hbv. Why they were treating you with nucs then interferon was the rightvway tovgo about it. These doctors who prescribe anti aids drugs to us kill us really.
Avatar n tn Anyway back to the aldara, if you have insurance its like $160 for the 4 month treatment, otherwise its $1200, when you burn off all the warts, THEN apply the aldara because the aldara did not clear my warts, but after 4 months of using it, it PREVENTED them for 8 months. So basically, Im thinking about just using aldara 3 times a week for life, to prevent. Untill then I'll use compund.
Avatar f tn Of course big pharma is scared is scared of this medication. 300 million hbv infected is a huge antiviral market. Why do you think Zadaxin in US is not approved either? They are doing everything to block medications that help clear hbv.
