alcohol

Avatar f tn A friend of mine produces his own alcoholic beverages at home. He drinks these beverages since 3 years and he doesn't have any problems with his eyes. I drank one of his alcoholic beverages. It has been a year since I drank it. The drink he made contains %40-45 of alcohol and I drank approximately 400-500 ml of it. I didn't feel bad that night except being drunk. I slept well and even though I have headache too often, I didn't even suffer from headache that day.
Avatar f tn Being an alcoholic is not down to how many drinks you have as such. I can drink many glasses of hard spirits and barely feel it at times whereas my female friend of 5''2' can drink 6 beers and get completely smashed. We both drink completely diffrent amounts but we are both alcoholics. Its more about patterns of drinking rather than the amount consumed. Alcoholism is an addiction to alcohol.
Avatar m tn I'm not real sure if this is where I should post this but my boyfriend went out last night and drank about 15 beers and said he had 1 1/2 liquor drinks on top of that. Normally each night he consumes about 6 or more beers a night. On a few occasions his body gets splotchy - chest & head only - and has a very hard time breathing - about to pass out - and gets chills. He has gone to the emergency room many times for this but no one seems to know what it is.
Avatar n tn My friend died of alcohol poisoning with a BAC of 0.70 does this not seem extremely high, is this possible?
Avatar m tn Think of it as getting lucky this time. There are only so many times you can drink until you have alcohol poisoning without some permanent damage to your liver. Take it from someone that knows. Diagnosed 03-23-10 end stage cirrhosis.
Avatar f tn I, too, am one of those people that, within a short period of time, have built up a total intolerance for alcohol. No matter what I drink or how much (one or two sips can do it) I end up being nauseous and having a very painful stomach. It takes days to get back to normal again. Is there anything that helps? I would so much love to have just one glas of wine with dinner now and then...........................
Avatar f tn Hi! My name is Marina and I'm 21 years old. I have never drink a lot of alcohol but I've tried many alcoholic drinks. What I notice is that it seems to me I have vodka and tequila intolerance. I can drink whiskey for example 100 - 200 ml and I don't get drunk or sick but whenever I drink vodka or tequila (I mean like 50 ml) I still don't get drunk but I get trembling sick with nausea. I have to throw up everything in my stomach.I have tachycardia and breathing difficulty..
Avatar m tn You say She goes through serious withdrawals that land Her in the hospital. She could die from alcohol poisoning with that amount. That is a LOT of alcohol for anyone. In my opinion this Woman needs serious intervention. How long has She been doing this?
Avatar n tn Was probably alcohol poisoning .There are acute stages in both viral and bacterial hepatitis. The doctor should tested you for hepatitis,in which case you would know. If your case was poisoning rather than infection it will resolve if you abstain. If it is,or was, an infection then it would require treatment. I suspect the doctor has diagnosed it as the former. The mystery is you say you don't drink to excess. The answer lies in blood tests for Hep A, B, and C.
Avatar n tn t know if there was something added to one of your drinks or if it is alcohol poisoning. Please get it checked out. If it is an allergy benadryl would likely help but best to have it looked at by a doctor.
Avatar f tn If he has a virus and drinks thats another situation. People die from acute alcohol poisoning when they are on a bing and the liver cant filter the amount of alcohol going through the liver at the same time.. So he could have cirrohiss of the liver from alcohol intake and not any of the virus.
Avatar m tn t urinate for some reason except once after I started drinking (and I just found out every time you urinate 10% of it leaves your body) and I drank on an empty stomach. Is that enough that I got a small case of alcohol poisoning? I woke up puking everywhere which I never do unless I'm REALLY sick and I was shivering even though my family member says it was hot in here and I don't get cold easily on top of that and I was confused and other unpleasant things.
1681217 tn?1305845335 Rum also has high alcohol %. You were also at risk for alcohol poisoning or suffocating. You can vomit in your sleep and drown, choke on it. I am not going to lie and say drinking is not fun because it can be. But ANYONE who drinks needs to know their limit. It is not fun to watch someone **** their pants or puke all over themselves. It is disgusting. There are many reasons why you should not drink but the main one is that you were putting your life at risk.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 24 year old female from the UK. I drank once or twice a week socially up until about 3 months ago. I went out one night, had around 5 vodka and cokes. Went home and couldn't sleep. Around 3 hours after my last drink, I was wide awake with stomach pains, diarrhoea, nausea and my whole body was shaking uncontrollalbly. Right before it happens my hands and feet and then my whole body go extremely cold.
Avatar m tn in Demystifying Psychiatry Many people binge drink, which is defined as having 5 or more drinks in a short period of time for men and 4 or more drinks in a short period of time for women. An average "drink" contains about half an ounce of pure ethyl alcohol; this is the approximate amount of ethanol in a 12 oz. beer, a 4 to 5 oz. glass of wine, or a 1.25 oz. shot of hard liquor.
Avatar n tn In the vast majority of cases, clients had put drugs in their own drinks then covered their actions by claiming drink spiking. In the remainder, most people simply had bad reactions to alcohol, or had other medical conditions by coincidence, such as food poisoning. Others were taking prescribed medication on top of alcohol and hadn't considered this. Please be reassured that I am not calling you a liar.
2120085 tn?1344765910 one of them can die from alcohol poisoning, or have an MVA if they want to get picky....lol...
Avatar n tn I'm not sure if I do but I think I may have a virus or food poisoning. Should I consult a physician?
Avatar m tn Sounds like a bad reaction with another drug you had in your system at the time. 6 oz of beer is not enough to do anything. You symptoms are indicative of another problem and you should see a medical professional.
Avatar m tn hi. it would depend on how fast it was consumed and how well her body metabolizes the alcohol. a persons tolerance can increase through repeated abuses, but in general that type of drinking indicates an increased potential risk of developing full blown alcoholism in addition to acute alcohol poisoning. to answer your question, yes, that could be at worst fatal, and at best a prelude to disaster.
Avatar n tn t know that you actually have to be diagnosed to know you have alcohol poisoning. during my binge drinking alcoholism there was many times i KNOW i had alcohol poisoning. felt like acid running through my veins. your whole body feels bruised. press anywhere on your skin and it hurts. actually have had some purple splotches. i think the important thing for you to do is stop drinking.
Avatar n tn Hi.. As a recovering alcoholic myself (10 yrs clean), I've done my share of research. After a night of heavy drinking (to the level of losing conciousness) You will smell the alcohol over the next 24 hours as the body detoxes itself. The alcohol is released from the body through the pores of the skin (in addition to "regular" elimination). She drinks to the point of unconciousness because her body is taking in more alcohol than it can process.
