Common Questions and Answers about Alcohol poisoning and dogs

alcohol

1969477 tn?1327548419 Yes, and it's bad for the dogs, too. I own a cat and have chemical sensitivities myself. So, this place is only cleaned with natural products. That industrial stuff, if it's still in the air when the dogs and people are there, that's not good for anyone. It's very bad for the people doing the cleaning, too. They need to use other cleaning products. The stuff they're using is too harsh and is dangerous for both the people and the animals.
Avatar m tn My grandmother has never had a drink in her life, but she was a regular at many parties and bars. She has fun without the alcohol. For some people, normal means no alcohol at all. I too suffer from OCD and can understand your obsessive thoughts and how they can take over your life. What I've found to help me is my weekly group (love them) and a journal. A lot of positive talk to yourself will help too. I write almost daily, at least everytime an obsessive thought creeps up.
Avatar m tn I would say stay away from alcohol just because of the medication you're on. That could have made you extremely sick. I've never heard the equation of 10% leaving the body every time you urinate and I've studied a lot about alcoholism and addiction. I used to give myself alcohol poisoning on a regular basis when I drank. 2 day hangovers were standard, and at times I would throw up over 15 times in a day.
Avatar m tn Sounds like a bad reaction with another drug you had in your system at the time. 6 oz of beer is not enough to do anything. You symptoms are indicative of another problem and you should see a medical professional.
Avatar n tn My friend died of alcohol poisoning with a BAC of 0.70 does this not seem extremely high, is this possible?
1330108 tn?1333677304 Your hubby must love rubbing your belly!! Do the dogs act any different? My dogs seem to be more gentle and affectionate with me.
Avatar m tn t keep multiple things in mind at a time.Is it alcohol poisoning or something else.i consulted a psychiatrist and he said it was becoz of sensitivity. If itz a case of sensitivity ,why I m experiencing problems still now after 3 weeks .On the contrary if itz poisoning ,how can small amount of ethanol cause poisoning..?
Avatar f tn I'd stay away from fish, hot dogs/corn dogs, and lunch meat. And any soft and unpasteurized cheeses. And make sure all fruits and veggies are washed thoroughly.
Avatar n tn t you? My dogs got into them twice this past season! Both times late at nite - I used a hose and rinsed their mouths out really good and they were both fine - Still - you never know.
Avatar m tn s a generally healthy dog and VERY well looked after. My one concern was poisoning, there is an individual who may very well do that kind of thing(sicko). But if it were poisoning, would she have other symptoms???
672475 tn?1227793166 as far as mixing alcohol and psychiatric meds, the effects of the meds can be lessened, intensified or even result in severe psychosis as i experienced years ago when i drank while on a common antidepressant. the potential effects are also dependent on things like emotional status and any other substances being taken.
Avatar f tn The thing that I am worried about, is it possible that the alcohol I drank can be methanol and I survived it? And is it possible that this alcohol damaged my eyes but I am not aware of it?
Avatar n tn i have two pug dogs. we have noticed that both dogs have been losing weight. it is getting to the point that you can see the back bone. i was wondering what could cause this and what we should do.
Avatar f tn I remember throwing up and then passing out again. I slept for 8 hour. I read that alcohol poisoning can cause dehydration, leading to low blood pressure and low supply of oxygen to the brain. Also, that alcohol in high doses can slow your breathing, also causing inadequate supply of oxygen to the brain. Did I suffer alcohol poisoning? What are the chances that I my brain starved of oxygen while I was passed out? It’s possible that I suffered some kink of brain damage from this single episode?
Avatar n tn I've heard mushrooms can be no good for dogs. So if there was some mushroomy-type growth on that wood, it might be that. And also there is the possibility they either have got blockage caused by pieces of rotten wood or like Margot said -splinters. I think I would take them to be checked out -be on the safe side. Did you by any chance see any fungus growing on that old tree stump? Or, another thought is -what kind of tree was it?
Avatar f tn This has happened twice within the last month in that exact order of symptoms. The only common links I could find with the two cases were Hot Dogs, caffeine, and being with my boyfriend but none of those have triggered any sort of sickness before or inbetween these two cases. I’m concerned because I can’t find anything like it online and I very rarely get properly sick but I felt like I was dying on those two occasions.
Avatar n tn I am wondering how you guys turn down alcohol in front of family and friends? I will be going to a big weekend wedding that will last 3 days and interested in tips how to navigate that without raising eye brows. Thanks!
Avatar m tn I know from first hand experience that a lot of things go through your mind when you think someone may have alcohol poisoning, and there is a natural reaction to hope you are wrong and wait to see if the person to be OK, and that people may very well get mad if you are wrong and drag them to the hospital.
Avatar n tn Im from Dallas, tx and have had 2 dogs and 1 cat die in the last week. Different times and days but the symptoms are all the same..They all went out as normal and then within a few mins are going bazurk!! Running like crazy hitting themselves against anything and everything! Their eyes begin to bulge and widen, they look extremely frighten, they tongue falls out of their mouth and they begin to have seizures for about 10 mins before finally dying!! It's very sad to see and scary!!
Avatar m tn It could be that the poisoning has caused some change in her body-chemistry, which might re-balance given a week or two and the correct treatment for the poisoning (and what exactly was she poisoned with?) The vet tells you it is food poisoning. It might be. Salmonella can cause after effects sch as weakness etc. But I don't know about hallucinations.... Are there any toxic mushrooms/fungi growing in your garden, yard, or anywhere she might have nibbled at them? Or plants?
Avatar n tn digestion can usually handle what would make humans ill. Dogs can scavenge a bit, and get away with it (not that they should!) Sometimes they can eat things that would make you sick to even think about. Obviously if he shows signs of bad diarrhoea or vomiting more than once or twice I'd take him to see the vet.
Avatar f tn t show any other signs of alcohol poisoning so I was wondering if there was another thing less fatal than alcohol poisoning.
Avatar n tn Hi there! You've reached the Dogs Community and I think you were looking for a different forum. If you're looking for the caloric content of various alcoholic beverages, you might try one of the diet related forums here at Med Help. From my own experience, alcohol isn't a good idea if you're trying to lose weight or you're diabetic. It gets metabolized to sugar in a heartbeat.
