Avatar f tn Listen to your body. Distraction when the anxiety is creeping in - turn on some music, call a friend and talk it out, get up and go walk. But most importantly is retraining your brain. "This is just anxiety. It's no fun, but it's not going to hurt me. It's going to be okay." Slow, deep, into-your-belly breathing is key! Journaling has also been very helpful for me. Another top-line resources is therapy.
Avatar m tn those facts are useless some people live with HIV + PEOPLE and never get infected and some get infected from first time statistics with medical issues are useless just stay protected and that is the BEST you can do
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for the information and resources. So you are saying that the stats and the studies that they came from are listed on the ASHA website, your book and articles on PubMed? I'm just thinking that if I were given stats by someone, I would want to know where they came from. So the risk of him actually getting HSV-2 are pretty low if all the precautions are followed? Also, could you tell me what the risk of him acquiring HSV-2 by giving oral sex would be? Is it a low percentage?
Avatar n tn I am looking for information and transmission facts and statistics relating to partners who both have HSV-1 orally and one has HSV-2 genitally. Although I know that the chances of spreading HSV-1 to eithers genitals is extremely low, is there any numbers out there on this? Also on the transmission of HSV-2 to the mouth of someone who already has HSV-1? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn Yes - I've read the pamphlet and it was really helpful...it is one of many resources I've read and I have seen different stats in different sites. It sounds like this is pretty reliable, though no sources are sited for the stats.
Avatar f tn I've been advised to try visual routine charts for my sons and was looking for a website that would give me advice on how best to do this to best meet each of their needs/problems.does anyone have any suggestions please?
Avatar n tn My mom has just found out that she has an elevated GGT level but the rest of the AST and ALT levels are normal. She had a radiology and they saw 2 masses one 3cm x 3cm and the second 4cm x 4cm. She has been taking methotrexate for over 9 years. Does anyone know if this may have an impact ? if it is cancer what other levels would be elevated in her blood tests ? Any suggestions ??

223152 tn?1346978371 Hey Bean, those charts are looking great! I see you updated mine correctly and I didn't even have to tell you to put in the SVR! I don't think you need anything else from me but let me know if you do. I had a really rough time with triple tx but managed to avoid any dose-reductions and didn't quite need procrit either (my HGB went to the threshold my doctor set, but never actually crossed it).
Avatar f tn My husband and I are trying to have kids. We have been trying for only a few month, however, we are not young anymore (35) and I don't want to wait a year before consulting with a doctor (as it usually recommended). So here is my question: My husband has been taking paxil for the past 13 years (10mg). From the research online I found out that paxil changes sperm DNA that reduces permeability and as a result reduces the chance for pregnancy.
Avatar n tn thanks for second answer doctor. to take my lingering fear of me i went after your first answer to make a test and it came back negative. thanks again for this great website !
Tbd By the way, the only reason I mentioned this at all is that "fun with statistics" is so prevalent in today's society. Important to remember that statistics don't represent facts, they are one argument for a position. They are very difficult to get right, and impossible for others to know if the study was done correctly or for a purpose and therefore skewed. You can use statistics to prove almost anything if you want to.
Avatar f tn For preschool-aged children, evidence-based behavioral therapy alone is recommended as the first step toward treating ADHD symptoms and associated impairment. Behavioral treatments may include behavioral parent training, classroom management, and/or peer interventions.
Avatar f tn This is a simple one, you need to stop the drinking. That's really the BEST option here. IN the VERY least, you're going to need to cut WAY back. Here's some info (excerpts from link posted below): "Paxil or paroxetine and alcohol act on similar chemicals of the brain and this is the main reason why doctors advise the users of Paxil not to combine it with alcohol." " The main concern is that Paxil increases the effects of alcohol.
Avatar m tn d be putting a strain on them to process the alcohol, possibly leading to unnecessary inflammation. Less damage, more healthy cells and less strain on that healthy part from alcohol and other toxins. Like Frank, I can't really imagine going back to old habits like drinking regularly. I have become a true 'social drinker'. The rare glass of wine at a dinner or wedding, but no more visits to the wine aisle in the store, ever.
Avatar m tn I understand these are statistics and even if he does everything this is what his survival rate is and if he does no treatment it could be cut in half.. I am not sure what we need to do next.. We are getting an appointment to speak with Dr so it can all be layed out for him since he is forgetting things I thought this would be the best thing to do.
649848 tn?1534633700 Facts and statistics are often cherry-picked to present a “narrative” that all white people are racist and all blacks are victimized by whites. These statistics suggest this is a biased view that serves only to exacerbate racial tensions. Human beings should be presumed innocent until proven guilty and should not be lumped into categories that make them appear guilty of committing some crime that in many cases they had nothing to do with.
1116669 tn?1269143266 I get me labs emailed to me weekly after which I research and advocate. When and if the Procrit and/or reduced Ribo mitigates the anemia I will minimally go to 600 and 400 daily then hopefully back to 1200. My doc ordered the 400 twice a day reduction in 200 mg tabs so I could increase the dose easily contingent on my hgb. I wish I could get the Procrit before monday: This and 3 yo twins, a full time job, and vanity that still drives me to the gym (anemically) a couple of times a week!
Avatar m tn He was in ICU for two weeks on a respirator. Prior to this he was diagnosed with HepC and cirrhosis of the liver. While in the hospital it was found that he had an ulcer and had had two strokes. I almost lost him twice. He has hepatic encephalopathy. His doctor is in the process of signing him up for a liver transplant. He hasn't had a drink since June 25, 2013. Would it even be useful to try this drug with all his other problems and the possibility of a transplant?
Avatar f tn People are making and growing their own.... get rid of prohibition and make the money off alcohol sales taxes.... do it with pot, the black market eventually peters out in regards to marijuana. As for today's politics.... it isn't all Obama's fault. It's politicians faults.
Avatar f tn Its great that he quit smoking! He should not drink alcohol. Beer is really high in carbs and will elevate blood sugar tremendously. Ans as the other poster said, it will be very hard on kidneys. I agree that denial of diabetes is a really big factor with people at times!
