alcohol

Avatar f tn Congratulations on your choice to quit drinking, it won't be long until the smell of alcohol goes. After quitting myself for the last 13+ years I can tell you that I very early on hated the smell of alcohol, so you may be getting more sensitive to the smell since quitting...
Avatar f tn I have been told many things about smoking during pregnancy. I am currently nine weeks pregnant and I'm having a problem with just quitting smoking. I've been told that since I've smoked for almost ten years that if I just up and quit I run a high risk of loosing my baby. I've been told to cut back and I've got to where I only smoke about 5 to 8 a day and before I got pregnant I smoked a pack a day.
Avatar m tn Maybe you were trying to be diplomatic or play it safe but the facts suggest that your statement was flat out wrong. Alcohol has NEVER been shown to play ANY role in HCV reactivation.
Avatar m tn Recently I started tracking all of the business an social events I have been at with alcohol involved and noted that I have steadily "trained" for alcohol intake the last 15 years. I would prefer to just cut it all off but of course there is always a holiday, birthday, event or something else that either prolongs it or delays quitting. What is an effective way to just say "I am done with drinking?
Avatar f tn Congratulations on your upcoming motherhood. Quitting smoking cold turkey will not harm your baby. I do know that I am repeating myself here, but here it goes: I understand that smoking is extremely addictive, however there are certain things we do for our kid that are very hard, and one of them is being pregnant, taking care of our bodies while pregnant and nursing (and I am not even talking about giving birth!). That is only the start of a difficult life of a parent.

2217782 tn?1394363972 so many arguments with the hubby while I sat at my table nursing my alcohol.. so many accusations that were all in a alcohol fueled mind. so many wasted tears that were trumped up due to the alcohol so many years wasted sitting at my table nursing my drinks.. my elbows had calluses from sitting at that table all my pictures have my drink in them.. It has been 5 years.
Avatar m tn I'm lookinf for a bit of advice about quitting drinking. First, I'm not an alcoholic in the traditional sense, but I would say I have a problem with drinking sometimes. I can go good lengths of time without alcohol, and can easily have just a few drinks at an occasion, however, if the occasion sees me having more than a few drinks, I seem to go past a tipping point and drink to excess. I never drink to excess though in an environment where that's not the norm.
10476455 tn?1423121400 I say of you're afraid of alcohol getting into your milk, I would pump it before you decide to have some drinks :) Breastfeeding helps you lose weight. And your boobs will sag regardless of what you do.
Avatar n tn I have been on 6 mg of clonazapam for 10 yrs. I am quitting cold turkey. What are the risks?
9299142 tn?1402941543 I'm quitting alcohol too n I'm 6months pregnant ...
Avatar f tn Alcohol is a double-edged sword. It causes people to lose interest in food. The lack of nutrition is what will doom your liver and kill you. I think it may help you to have those facts.
Avatar n tn Good for you for quitting. When you quit, i've heard the lungs go through an adjustment phase, more phelgm might be produced as the lungs heal. Even though you have a nicotine replacement, your body is detoxing from all the other chemicals in a cigarette, this slows you down. I wouldn't sweat 2 minutes, your body will bounce back soon.

660680 tn?1225215237 Has anyone been successful in quitting drinking without the help of AA or other programs? If not AA, has anyone been involved in Celebrate Recovery? My efforts are not working on their own as they did the last time i stopped drinking. I had made it to 15 years of sobriety and then took a new job in 2006 and all went down hill after that. I am now fearful for my health, my relationship with my wife and daughters, and my overall mental wellbeing. Any suggestions are welcomed.
948349 tn?1294380237 I think if people are quitting smoking, they should be advised to avoid caffeine while they are quitting, for about a month! Otherwise, you will get a craving which will be as intense as the amount of caffeine ingested. I had 3 cups of coffee.... and i layed there in bed with a craving so intense, it lasted about 3 hours STRAIGHT! Even water wasn't helping. Just a tip for people trying to quit. Alcohol also makes you crave, so avoid that too while quitting.
Avatar m tn I'm trying to get through alcohol withdrawal. I've never really done it before, or at least not consciously. Might go on a weekend bender with buddies and suffer the hang over for a day or two (or three) afterwards, but figured this was just part of the territory. Now I've been reading more about the danger of alcohol withdrawal, and am a little worried this time around because my drinking has progresses.
Avatar n tn what natural supplements to take when quitting drinking to help with withdrawal and detox and avoid seizures
Avatar m tn I read that you can experience seizures and delirium tremens when quitting cold turkey. So in response to this, I drank two beers last night and will drink 1 tonight to taper off. Before this bender, I would go out twice a week on weekends with my friends and drink heavily. I have a few questions. 1. Have I drank for a long enough time for a seizure or Delirium tremens to be likely? 2. How long will it take for the withdrawal symptoms to subside from a bender of 13 days?
466909 tn?1207568232 It's nobody's fault but mine that I'm an addict. If I didn't take Oxycontin, I would have found my addiction in the bottom of a bottle of alcohol or another substance. The fact is that Oxycontin, when used correctly and responsibly, helps millions of people with chronic pain live normal lives. It's selfish addictive thinking that makes my addiction more important than their quality of life.
Avatar m tn I am a 46 year old man. I was a moderately heavy drinker ( 2 drinks every day). During a routine blood test I was found to have a SGPT of 107 U/L, my Serum triglycerides are 310 mg/dl. A sonography test also confirmed a fatty liver. I was informed by the docter that it was caused by alchohol abuse. And I am supposed to quit totally for 6 months All other reports are normal. I exercise 6 days a week, burning 600 Kcal everyday.
