alcohol

Avatar m tn d be putting a strain on them to process the alcohol, possibly leading to unnecessary inflammation. Less damage, more healthy cells and less strain on that healthy part from alcohol and other toxins. Like Frank, I can't really imagine going back to old habits like drinking regularly. I have become a true 'social drinker'. The rare glass of wine at a dinner or wedding, but no more visits to the wine aisle in the store, ever.
Avatar n tn I understand that the half-life of naproxen in the body is 12-17 hours. My question involves something I haven't found in other forums. When does it become safe to consume alcohol after taking an NSAID such as naproxen? If I take 1 unit of naproxen at 7:00 PM on Thursday, can I drink at 7:00 PM on Friday even though, according to the half-life, there is still about one-third the amount of naproxen in my system?
Avatar f tn Totally agree and I think we all know that alcohol, in excess, can harm a foetus. I'm not saying by any means that you should make a point of drinking, but within limits I think it's OK - hey, you've just got to be a bit adult and responsible about it... but hopefully we're that anyway seeing as we're grown women and want to bring another little life into the world.
Avatar m tn Here are the facts of the case: (I) An escort gyrated on top of me (straddled me) with my underwear on, and my pants partially on. This was about 3 minutes. I then pulled my pants up over my underwear, so she proceeded to gyrate on top of me with both my pants and underwear on. This was about 5 minutes. There was massage oil everywhere. She played with her clit a bit during the process, while on top of me, using a dildo. There was never any skin to skin contact.
Avatar f tn Its great that he quit smoking! He should not drink alcohol. Beer is really high in carbs and will elevate blood sugar tremendously. Ans as the other poster said, it will be very hard on kidneys. I agree that denial of diabetes is a really big factor with people at times!
10476455 tn?1423121400 Pumping and dumping doesn't work, the alcohol that shows up in your milk is directly related to the alcohol in your blood stream. No amount of pumping will make it come out faster than your body normally metabolizes (which is roughly one drink per hour) with that being said the alcohol in your milk is the same as that in you blood stream, not in your drink. If you have one glass of wine your breast milk will not be 12% alcohol like the wine was. It will be about 0.
Avatar f tn hi. alcohol can do a number on the nervous system and the effects can last from a few hours to becoming permanent. this is dependent on a lot of things such as consumption, pre-existing conditions and nutrition. as stated above, the safest thing to do would be to address these issues with a physician that you can be honest with about your drinking.
Avatar f tn Apparently the naltrexone/naloxone disrupts the absorbtion of alcohol into the bloodstream and she could not ever feel the effects of the alcohol. I have also read of a treatment for alcoholics where they are prescibed daily doses of naltrexone for this reason. To prevent them feeling any "beneficial effects"of alcohol. I hope this helps to answer your question.
Avatar n tn I understand that mixing Xanax and Alcohol can have serious negative effects. However, my question is mainly about Xanax, and in regard to how long it stays in the system to the point where it is dangerous to mix with alcohol. (i.e., is it dangerous to drink alcohol after 1 day of not taking Xanax?..2 days? etc). Another question, how serious are the long-term effects of drinking alcohol WITH xanax?
Avatar m tn Although alcohol does affect ferility, I don't think this would be a huge problem right now. I would, however, strongly suggest having her go to her obgyn and getting a full check up. It's better to know up front if there could be any problems and what you guys should or should not be doing.
Avatar m tn so, i've heard lots of things about diabete's with marijuana or alcohol, so now i want some facts. i've heard that alcohol can make your blood sugar go low but i thought it turned into sugar very fast so it would make my blood sugar high? i've allso heard of people going low while smoking marijuana, which could be because they have had a over dose. or is the weed causing this? this information would be helpfull before i try marijuana for safety resons.
Avatar n tn From personal experience (I take Lamictal and Seroquel), meds and alcohol do not mix very well. I have not had a seizure but I do not think it would be out of the question when mixing the two. I really can't give you a great answer because it is a huge unknown and I would rather not find out. It is better to play it safe. The only time I have ever blacked out was when I mixed the two - I would rather that not happen again. But also, it is hard to remain stable when consuming alcohol.

Avatar f tn This might seem crazy but it's been going on for about 4 months now. Everytime I drink, whether it be one drink or 5 drinks, I wake up about 1-2 hrs after I go to bed with a racing/pounding heart and I'm real hot and sweaty. It's almost like an anxiety attack. Alcohol has never bothered me before and I was wondering if anyone had a clue about what could be causing this.
Avatar f tn Third, enzymes activated by chronic alcohol consumption transform some drugs into toxic chemicals that can damage the liver or other organs. Fourth, alcohol can magnify the inhibitory effects of sedative and narcotic drugs at their sites of action in the brain. To add to the complexity of these interactions, some drugs affect the metabolism of alcohol, thus altering its potential for intoxication and the adverse effects associated with alcohol consumption.
Avatar m tn i have been drinking daily since 8 yrs whiskey or beer or at times both till i drop .
Avatar n tn Furthermore, the mixture of both antibiotics and alcohol can also have some additional negative effects on the body. Alcohol and the Effectiveness of Antibiotics Alcohol does not effect the effectiveness of the majority of antibiotics. However, antibiotics within the tetracycline group, including doxycycline, are hindered by alcohol. If alcohol is consumed while taking a tetraycycline antibiotic, the antibiotic may prove to be less effective at treating the bacteria or virus.
Avatar m tn If it is excessive then I believe it would effect your sexual drive and possibly your erections could be more difficult to produce and maintain. And no girl/guy likes a one minute man. If you are talking small amounts and social drinking then it should be fine.
Avatar f tn It is well known that heavy alcohol consumption can lead to severe liver disease including cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, but the effects of alcohol on HCV and its treatment are less well studied. As described in the December 15, 2008 Journal of Infectious Diseases, E. McCartney and colleagues performed a laboratory study using cultured Huh-7 cells to examine the effects of alcohol metabolism on HCV replication and the antiviral activity of interferon.
618210 tn?1223926965 Alcohol and antidepressents don't mix. You add both and it will likely intensify the effects as well as cancel out the effects of the Zoloft. I'm going to be flat out brutally honest... I'm sure you already know this, but drinking to cope with the loss of your brother is probably not the best coping strategy. Likely it's just making it worse for you and making the amount of time to grieve longer and harder to deal with in the long run.
455394 tn?1207513979 You're pretty lucky that you're not getting any bad side effects whatsoever so far. Mine are light too...so far. I just started Week 6. Some get them right away and I know others that started getting hit about Week 7 or so. Week 3 is pretty early to be projecting what the next 26 or 48 weeks will be like and deciding to throw gasoline on the fire because it's not that hot right NOW. Do you know what your VL is and how well you're doing?
