alcohol

Avatar m tn This could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens. These are substances like pollen, dust, animal dander, certain foods, insect venoms and certain medications. Exposure to allergens causes a runny nose with a resultant post nasal drip where secretions from the nose go backward into the throat and irritate..
Avatar n tn This can be caused by alteration in the Aldehyde Dehydrogenase (ALDH) gene; food allergy such as beer components malted barley, hops and yeast; and allergy to alcohol itself. An allergy test may help identify the specific allergen that should be avoided. It is best that you check with your doctor for proper evalaution. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn About this time, I sometimes get a slightly sore throat, some nasal discharge, loose stools, pressure in my ears, neck and throat. What can be done for this? I read holding your nose sometimes helps to loosen up mucous. Any ideas? Please appreciate your suggestions.

Avatar n tn The oily substance in the toilet water is dark brown/blackish in color. The only changes that I can think of, are that I began allergy shots about a month ago and have been taking Veramyst nasal spray. What is wrong and what should I do?
Avatar f tn I am tired of visiting the ER but the end result is always allergies. I have been taken all different types of allergy medications. Nothing seems to help. I have also used so many nasal spays I don't know what to do anymore. Upon visiting an ENT, he inserted a tube in my nose with a camera so he could see what was going on but I was told everything seems to be perfect. I've gargled, I've coughed, I've tried clearing my throat in different ways, but nothing is helping.
Avatar f tn You can give OTC anthistaminics like benadryl or zyrtec to your daughter. She can also take saline nasal sprays.Severe case may need steroid nasal sprays or oral steroids. But they are available only on prescription. Ask your daughter to take plenty of fluids throughout the day and inhale steam as many times as possible. An evaluation by an ENT specialist is necessary to rule out sinusitis.

Avatar m tn Hi my name is Tony and i'm 23 years old.I've been putting together the pieces of this fatigue problem i've had as of recent. For the past three months or so i've been exibiting allergy type symptoms such as: red itchy eyes when i wake up, clear/white mucous from the nose and sometimes phlegm. This has been the 1st year I have had any allergy type symptoms. Preceding these allergies was a year of little sleep, excessive caffeine usage, and some alcohol use.
Avatar m tn Hi, your symptoms could be due to sinusitis. Its unlikely that they are related to nasal vessels. The pressure you feel in the bridge of your nose is where the ethmoid sinus is located, this could be inflamed. The best way to get to the bottom of your sinus issues is to see an ENT. A good examination inside the nose with a camera might give the ENT more information as well as a CT scan of the sinuses.
Avatar f tn It definitely sounds like you could have some type of allergy to alcohol! I have a friend who has very similar symptoms after drinking but his normally starts within about 6 hours of having a couple of drinks. Alcohol allergies at some level is surprisingly more common than most people think. My advice, talk to your Dr. about it just to make sure its nothing more serious ie: liver issues. Good luck!
779797 tn?1263618235 s called intoxication, not allergy. None of your symptoms point to an alcohol allergy. I suggest you stay away from it. Why make matters worse? Have you seen a doctor for any of these symptoms? Something as simple as an inner ear problem can also cause dizziness. Allergies can pop up out of nowhere. Did you test positive for anything?
Avatar m tn Avoid wine and alcohol products if you know that they trigger an asthma/ allergy attack. There are already a number of wines without the preservatives that causes the allergy. But have yourself tested first with what you are allergic to.

Avatar f tn I have infrequent nosebleeds and was prescribed Premarin cream for my nasal passages. I also have eustation tube dysfunction and was wondering could all this be related? My father also had nose bleeds and formed a clot and died from a pulmonary embolism. Is there any other way to tell why my nose bleeds? I had two in one day which is unusual and it happens in all the seasons.
Avatar n tn I woke up this morning to a drug allergy, nasal passage closed and face swelling. 548980 tn?1214822412 Recently saw my family physician again and she was quick to prescribe medication for anxiety treatment but I am now considering the possibility that my anxiety is strongly correlated to my experience of allergy symptoms (stuffed nose, lump in throat sensation, post nasal drip). Have yet to see an allergy specialist but it is the next thing on my to-do list. Just thought I'd share my experience in case you can see any possible solutions to your struggles through mine. Hope you get well soon.
