My question is this I have a history of alcohol abuse, it started about 12 years ago when I had my child, I met a guy (who I spent 10 years with), could never get a babysitter so he started bringing beer into the house (only ever drank when I went out prior to this) after a year we were drinking a full bottle of scotch together every night,I had a very highly paid job god only knows how I kept it without being dicovered, after 10 years I left him tried to make a new start abroad it went wrong I

Is it concluded that there is to be no more alcohol of any kind forever? What about after you have cleared the virus?
Your 17 year old will soon know, but your other children are probably younger and it will take them more time to be clear with you, but someday they will question you, why you were confused and why you were drinking with a drunk that abused children sexually, and then asked to abuse them again, when they became young adults. (disgusting). .
Take heed and realize that at such a young age your liver is responding to the alcohol abuse. It's awesome that you are addressing the fact before the damage has occurred. Not only will drinking affect your liver, but drugs will also cause distress. The combo will likely exasperate the outcome.
At this time your liver will heal if you quit partying. Prolonged abuse on the other hand can/will create problems down the road.

I've been feeling great these last few days of being clean and sober, but I still feel foggy and confused easily and wanted to learn more about it and if I've caused permanent damage since I started drinking so young.
Our daughter was forced to have unsupervised custody last week where she informed us that he was vomiting all evening. I have researched symptoms of alcohol and Tylenol abuse and found possible signs of liver damage. For the concern of my daughter, we are extremely scared on what he is capable of when she see's him. We are hoping anyone who has experience on this could offer us advise.
but this just started about 2 weeks ago.. I used to abuse Cough Medicine and alcohol.. I also used to dip tabacco.. I am really worried that am going to drop dead at anytime when this happens.. Over the past three years, I have slipped into two addictions: alcohol abuse and xanax abuse. I have struggled with anxiety for years and began taking a low dosage of xanax approximately nine years ago. I have used it "off and on" until the past three years where it has become a daily staple. t know what you mean you don’t “abuse alcohol like that” you don’t have to be an alcoholic living on the street to have liver damage from alcohol. Some people have trouble with alcohol liver damage with less alcohol then others especially when combined with other health problems.

To many xanax and to much alcohol will kill young or old. He needs help but he is young and most young people think they are invincible. Maybe you can get him to some na meetings or even a drug treatment center this will help him at lest he will no how to quit when he gets ready to quit. Treatment will teach him how to quit and he wont forget treatment.
if the xanax is in addition to the alcohol.....then he's really playing with fire here. being a medical student, you should know already how diazepam is used for withdrawal from xanax. this needs to be dr surpervised and the process alone of switching from xanax to valium is a long process...but ultimately at these doses and with alcohol in the mix, perhaps thats the best route? a doctor will know best...but the alcohol needs to be dealt with FIRST...then the xanax.

I know no one here knows this for sure, and maybe I'm looking in the wrong place on here but thought I would put it out there. I am just wondering if anyone here has ever asked their doctor or qualified professional if it is possible to run out of neurotransmitters whether it be naturally or from substance abuse. Is it possible to have symptoms of brain problems due to being hit in the head?
BUT, would these show up on MRI's? Negating MS as the diagnosis? My MRI's appear to be fine, and I suppose after all this time, I have done reasonably well in life after the abuse.
Just kind of a jolt to the system to see THAT question........
