Avatar f tn Becoming free from alcohol is a very doable thing. But remaining free from alcohol takes work. I had to take part in my own recovery and work on myself so I would change. If I don't change nothing changes. Nobody could do that for me. But there are millions of us in recovery all over the world. So freedom for you is out there waiting. Keep your willingness and continue to make the steps in the right direction like you've described in your post. You don't have to be sick anymore.
Avatar f tn My question is this I have a history of alcohol abuse, it started about 12 years ago when I had my child, I met a guy (who I spent 10 years with), could never get a babysitter so he started bringing beer into the house (only ever drank when I went out prior to this) after a year we were drinking a full bottle of scotch together every night,I had a very highly paid job god only knows how I kept it without being dicovered, after 10 years I left him tried to make a new start abroad it went wrong I
1563920 tn?1299288683 If you look at my past posts, I have been dealing with neurological issues for some time now. I have been very depressed about everything, from having to quit nursing to my inability to work and drive. During this time, I have been turning to alcohol to kind of deal with my problems, not such a good idea, I know!!! It hadn't seemed to be a problem until last night. A group of my friends, including my boyfriend, went out for my birthday.
1255505 tn?1272819115 substance abuse is the only thing that gives me episodes. I wonder how much of the drugs and alcohol actually starts the process of these disorders. Everyone says I am a patient and kind person and i usually just keep my mouth shut about things. Throw some alcohol into it and i am out of control and telling people what i really think. I may be depressed afterward but i have no remorse for my actions afterward. Sometimes i wonder if it really is a bipolar issue like everyone says it is.

Avatar f tn But he is slowly dying. His pain is very likely his liver. 30 or 40 years of alcohol abuse will do that, not to mention the whole host of other problems he's going through, every one of which I guarantee is either caused, or exacerbated by the alcohol. Don't get hung up on figuring out which particular organ is shutting down. If he won't go to the doctor on his own then you need to take action. There are intervention counselors in your province available.
1621722 tn?1333050499 Welcome to the forum. None of us are qualified to give you any sort of diagnosis, especially online. If you're using alcohol as a way to deal with anxiety and depression, you could be heading down a slippery slope. It already sounds as though you need to figure out exactly how bad your "problem" with alcohol is...and the sooner the better, before it gets any worse.
Avatar f tn I took two Solpadol pills and within half an hour of taken them i was rushed into hospital with severe stomach pain. The doctors ran test and i was told it was pancreatitis. I was checked for Gal stones, was clear. They said they found no cause, and it was put down to alcohol misuse. I am not a heavy drinker. Could the Solpadol have caused this? I read in the leaflet one of the severe side affects is pancreatitis.

The following is a summary from a medical article on alcohol and GI tract: "Alcohol consumption can interfere with the function of all parts of the gastrointestinal tract. Acute alcohol ingestion induces changes in the motility of the esophagus and stomach that favor gastroesophageal reflux and, probably, the development of reflux esophagitis. Alcohol abuse may lead to damage of the gastric mucosa, including hemorrhagic lesions.

Avatar n tn Our daughter was forced to have unsupervised custody last week where she informed us that he was vomiting all evening. We are hoping anyone who has experience on this could offer us advise.

Avatar n tn Normally, my stomach would be fine, but after particularly heavy nights I had severe stomach upset, pain, and diarrhea. Children can leave the room for this next comment, but I also had dark or bloody stools on some occasions. Stop drinking and see if your situation improves. You won't get better instantly - it will probably take several days to get past this (it took me as many as 5 days on those occasions). Take some pepto, eat right, and stay off the booze completely.
Avatar m tn Alcohol increases the acid in your stomach. The irritating effects of alcohol may cause gastritis (inflammation of the lining of the stomach), pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), or a peptic ulcer (a raw area in the lining of the stomach or intestines). Alcohol can also damage your small intestine and keep it from absorbing nutrients. Alcohol can keep you from getting deep sleep, which may mean a less restful night's sleep. Also, drinking alcohol can make insomnia worse.

Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.
