2030686 tn?1351688548 If you are careful not to touch the needle it is sterile, if you touch it with something like an alcohol swab, it is less sterile. Alcohol swabs are good at cleaning surface dirt, but not so much for sterility, that is why it is not used for sterility in hospitals. In paramedic school, they taught us that the only germs that alcohol kills are the ones that cannot swim...

1151493 tn?1263336020 All this depression and self confidence issues ARE related to the side effects. Which scares me to death because I haven't had luck going down to less than the 4mg. Thank you for your response. XXXXxxxx.
Avatar m tn Wow that is a heavy duty question.......the risk of sudden death and arrythmias due from alcohol abuse are fairly remote however you have to remember that with overdoing it with the alcohol which is a depressive causes your whole system to slow down and depress everything in your body....
Avatar f tn Isn't that for alcohol...this is a substance abuse forum/mostly drug use but there is also an alcohol forum...click on forums at the top of the page and you will find it in the list...
Avatar n tn What I read on your post describes alcohol withdrawal's physical effects. With alcohol use, it's more about tolerance of certain amounts. What may be a lot for one person isn't or is a lot for another. It's a lot for your husband, from the sounds of it, since he experiences tremors and black outs (not recalling conversations, how he got somewhere, etc.).
Avatar f tn Becoming free from alcohol is a very doable thing. But remaining free from alcohol takes work. I had to take part in my own recovery and work on myself so I would change. If I don't change nothing changes. Nobody could do that for me. But there are millions of us in recovery all over the world. So freedom for you is out there waiting. Keep your willingness and continue to make the steps in the right direction like you've described in your post. You don't have to be sick anymore.
1563920 tn?1299288683 If you look at my past posts, I have been dealing with neurological issues for some time now. I have been very depressed about everything, from having to quit nursing to my inability to work and drive. During this time, I have been turning to alcohol to kind of deal with my problems, not such a good idea, I know!!! It hadn't seemed to be a problem until last night. A group of my friends, including my boyfriend, went out for my birthday.
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you have finally come to a realization that alcohol abuse is truly poisonous to your body. It leaches vitamins and nutrients out of you and damages your central nervous system. That is why I always suggest that alcohol detox take place in a hospital under medical supervision. You need to be on medication such as benzodiazapines to prevent seizures and have IV vitamin supplementation, especially thiamine, among others. Please do not take this advise lightly.
Avatar m tn I've been drinking once maybe twice a week for 4 yrs..approx 1liter/ to3/4 of a bottle of Vodka each time.
Avatar f tn I am wondering if my symptoms are the effects of heavy drinking and anxiefty. How long does it take for the effects of alcohol to go away and me start feeling good again. I don't even want to drink. I hope I haven't severely damaged by liver. Can someone provide some insight? How long does it take for your body to recover?
Avatar m tn And when coming off of them, you can have some types of withdrawal effects. Anti-depressants also come with side effects as you take them too... but those side effects usually leave after 2-3 weeks. And remember, not everyone has side effects or withdrawal effects. We are all wired differently. =) And the most common side effect with an anti-depressant is a "sexual" side effect. Don't be scared of what your Dr. suggests. Your Dr. knows best. And you should trust your Dr.
Avatar f tn Kes I had all of the same side effects you are speaking of when I used tram and yes at 800mg a day you are putting yourself at great risk of seizing .Have you tried tapering off?
Avatar n tn as a rule narcs can be stopped much less dangerously than heavy alcohol abuse//physically// cos as a rule there is no risks unless a narc user is old and has heart failure//mentally both r a true bumber//and aftercare for alcohol abuse is almost imperative cos it is everywhere//and drug abuse is not socially acceptable like alcohol is..peeps do not pass out oxys at the bowling alley like they do beers u didnt state what ur abuse issue was/or if there was one at all???..
243614 tn?1266197537 If there was ever a candidate for a peace prize that would be worth giving it would be a shot that could cure Alcohol Cravings with NO side effects !! I read that this drug has many potential side effects !! Not to mention that I never did like being a guinea pig, especially when it costs $700.00 a pop !! When I read or hear of these miracle drugs that promise a short and easy way out of what took us years to get into I think of yet another saying ...
Avatar n tn The treatment that you have been prescribed is correct. If you are having any side effects then get the antibiotics changed and even oral antibiotics can be added. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn He/she should of went through MedEd with her, meaning teach her everything there needs to be known, including the effects of using them with alcohol. Have her talk to her doctor about it, thats really the only best way to know. To be on the safe side try urging her not to do that until you get the important info on it, if she is doing it anyways. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Although antibiotics are relatively safe drugs, as stated, there are some side effects. These side effects could potentially become exacerbated if a person ingests alcohol when taking antibiotics. Furthermore, the mixture of both antibiotics and alcohol can also have some additional negative effects on the body. Alcohol and the Effectiveness of Antibiotics Alcohol does not effect the effectiveness of the majority of antibiotics.
990354 tn?1307132886 Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it. Tramadol can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. Do not stop using tramadol suddenly, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, sweating, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, chills, hallucinations, trouble sleeping, or breathing problems.
