Everything seems to be healing fine except for the fact that I lost about 10 points on my IQ. The facial nerve damage has almost or has fully healed. My left eye is now squint to the centre of my face. Both the neurosurgeon and ophthalmologist have said there is nothing I can do but wait for it to heal.

Avatar m tn Take heed and realize that at such a young age your liver is responding to the alcohol abuse. It's awesome that you are addressing the fact before the damage has occurred. Not only will drinking affect your liver, but drugs will also cause distress. The combo will likely exasperate the outcome. At this time your liver will heal if you quit partying. Prolonged abuse on the other hand can/will create problems down the road.
Avatar n tn While some doctors use it in all people they suspect of having liver disease, others use it only to help explain the cause of other changes or if they suspect alcohol abuse.(!) For example, both ALP and GGT are elevated in disease of the bile ducts and in some liver diseases, but only ALP will be elevated in bone disease. If the GGT level is normal in a person with a high ALP, the cause is most likely bone disease.
