Avatar f tn Also, when I drink the night before I will drink the next day and then again in the evening. Sometimes this goes on all weekend. My health issues are as follows: I feel like I constantly have bugs crawling on me. My skin is always itchy My gums bleed There is something going on in my mind. I obsess over certain sounds or pictures and they make me feel almost manic in a sense. I am developing red spots all over my stomach and they are moving to my neck and arms. - they are not itchy.
1563920 tn?1299288683 If you look at my past posts, I have been dealing with neurological issues for some time now. I have been very depressed about everything, from having to quit nursing to my inability to work and drive. During this time, I have been turning to alcohol to kind of deal with my problems, not such a good idea, I know!!! It hadn't seemed to be a problem until last night. A group of my friends, including my boyfriend, went out for my birthday.
Avatar f tn My question is this I have a history of alcohol abuse, it started about 12 years ago when I had my child, I met a guy (who I spent 10 years with), could never get a babysitter so he started bringing beer into the house (only ever drank when I went out prior to this) after a year we were drinking a full bottle of scotch together every night,I had a very highly paid job god only knows how I kept it without being dicovered, after 10 years I left him tried to make a new start abroad it went wrong I
1945565 tn?1330465775 You can wait until the need arises and then mention it. They do not need warning to make accomodations. I would not mention it in the workplace unless you have to. I did and got ousted. All of a sudden the writing I had been doing for months was no longer any good, and that is the 'reason' they gave for ousting me. My co-workers were great, it was just the bosses.
Avatar n tn ALT and AST are referred to as liver enzymes. An elevation in these enzymes usually suggests a problem with the liver. I don't believe that your numbers are so high that they suggest any immediate danger so I would not panic if I were you. But they are elevated and you should seek expert medical advice. Probably the most common cause of an elevation like yours is fatty liver disease. If that turns out to be the case you may be advised to modify your diet and institute an exercise plan.
1621722 tn?1333050499 Welcome to the forum. None of us are qualified to give you any sort of diagnosis, especially online. If you're using alcohol as a way to deal with anxiety and depression, you could be heading down a slippery slope. It already sounds as though you need to figure out exactly how bad your "problem" with alcohol is...and the sooner the better, before it gets any worse.
446829 tn?1212425523 Let's put it this way, Everything is related. If you have a bulging disc, then you have a pinched nerve. If the nerve is pinched it sends a message to the muscle to tighten up. Therefore you end up with a tension headache. If you are uptight, your muscles tighten and cause it. If you have a pinched nerve, same thing. It is a shame you have had to suffer so much. Work place injuries are the worst. They can victimize you over and over.
Avatar n tn My wife and I are greatly concerned about the natural father of our 11 year old daughter. The father in question has been abusing Tylenol and Alcohol for a very long time. Last year he overdosed on Tylenol and prescription drugs prescribed by his Psychologist as he has been recently diagnosed Psychitzophrenic and by-polar. He committed this act in front of our daughter. The last time we saw him in court he was almost skin and bones, very pale in complextion and exhibited an almost paranoia.
Avatar m tn if the xanax is in addition to the alcohol.....then he's really playing with fire here. being a medical student, you should know already how diazepam is used for withdrawal from xanax. this needs to be dr surpervised and the process alone of switching from xanax to valium is a long process...but ultimately at these doses and with alcohol in the mix, perhaps thats the best route? a doctor will know best...but the alcohol needs to be dealt with FIRST...then the xanax.
1255505 tn?1272819115 How many people here have a history of substance abuse? Did it result from or result in any episodes? I abused cannabis off and on from 13 to 20. I abused LSD from 16 to 20. I abused alcohol off and on from 21 to 37. I abused morphine & oxycodone at 40. Yikes! I also tried a few other things, but they never really took hold.

Avatar n tn These guidelines suggest that it can be useful in determining the cause of a high ALP. In persons with a history of alcohol abuse who have completed alcohol treatment, GGT may be used to monitor compliance with the treatment program.

Avatar m tn Chelsea, I see you posted an hour ago to an old thread about alcohol. I also noticed you posted to the substance abuse community an hour ago, in which you said: "iam a alcoholic and i dont know what to do i drink everyday and iam going to lose my kids and home! please help me.what do i do?" You don't at all mention here or in the substance abuse community whether you've been diagnosed with Hep C.
Avatar f tn In a report issued in 1998 by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and the National Institute on Drug Abuse, it is estimated that the cost of alcohol and drug abuse for 1995 was $276.4 billion, of which $166.5 billion was for alcohol abuse and $109.8 billion was for drug abuse.
Avatar f tn The time your body takes to recover from alcohol abuse varies with the individual. It also depends on the length of time that you abused alcohol and the quantity of alcohol that you were consuming daily. It sounds like your symptoms are WD symptoms from quitting consumption of alcohol. The best thing is to find some OTC remedies for your symptoms and tough it out. Check the health pages on this site and other posts for specific OTC help for your WD symptoms.
362971 tn?1201987034 As I recall from biochemistry, 30 g of alcohol can be detoxified by a healthy liver in 1 hr without obvious intoxication effect (the same effect for which alcohol is consumed in the 1st place). The emphasis should be given to the term of a "healthy" liver. Interestingly, a few studies I read lately suggest that heavier consumption for "healthy" livers is a safe and sound practice... for whatever reasons the think it is appropriate.... This makes me wonder...
Avatar m tn If you drink alcohol you must stop as it may be causing the fatty liver disease. More than 15 million people in the U.S. abuse or overuse alcohol. Almost all of them -- 90%-100% -- develop fatty livers. Please see a hepatologist at a teaching hospital near you to find out what you can do to reserve your fatty liver disease. http://www.webmd.com/hepatitis/fatty-liver-disease Good luck.
1032715 tn?1315984234 Feeling the darkness by narla, 6 minutes ago The darkness is hanging over me,It's like a feeling of doom.I sit here and wonder why do I have to change.Who will I be when I've changed, will I still be me.I feel different already.I feel I'm losing my identity,it may not have been a good identity but it was mine. Now I'm becoming a person I don't know. The alcohol, codeine, and sexual abuse made me who I am, now thats gone who am I.
Avatar f tn The only thing that helped me was 20mg Lexapro daily and an occasional lorazepam. After drinking heavily for 20 years, I think I've damaged my neurological systems. Quit alcohol almost a year ago and wonder if I'll feel better eventually. Abuse of alcohol was probably culprit in my case.
Avatar n tn YES! I'm a 22 year old male taking 50 mg vyvanse daily. I'm in recovery for alcohol and cocaine abuse. Been sober now for 10 months, and yes it has been difficult not to abuse vyvanse. Addicts think different than most people. We find something we like and all we can think is more more more. What I do is get a friend to hold my vyvanse and give it me as needed. I don't recommend holding on to them yourself!!! Bad idea!!
Avatar m tn Wow that is a heavy duty question.......the risk of sudden death and arrythmias due from alcohol abuse are fairly remote however you have to remember that with overdoing it with the alcohol which is a depressive causes your whole system to slow down and depress everything in your body....
1450085 tn?1298941702 hey! thanks so much that made alot of sense, yes there is a history of depression and anxiety on both sides of my family, and before my partying i never had these outright anxiety symptoms but i was always more nervous about things than other people and always on edge, so maybe that had something to do with it. it just frustrates me that my MD and my psychologist wont give me a straight answer, maybe i should go straight to a psychiatrist and let them diagnose me on the DSM IV TR?
