Avatar n tn Ask him/her if you should also take pills to help you breathe, either SINGULAiRor something similar once in 24hr, and the inhaler. You should also have a rescue inhaler such as ALBUTEROL and use that only in emergency. I have posted a large post re: asthma and all, please read them, hope it will help you. Again do not overuse your inhalers. Keep an air cleaning machine in your home to filter out 99% of all polutants, you can get one for about $60.00 at K-mart or Sears. They help.
212161 tn?1599427282 I don't know what inhaler was prescribed for you, but "rescue' (acts quickly) inhalers such albuterol can cause palpitations and arrhythmias. But this reaction is rare as long as you use the recommended dosage. Steroid inhalers are maintenance inhalers meant to prevent asthma attacks. They do not have cause palpitations and arrhythmias.
1047019 tn?1256719961 Like Tammy2009 said, keep an eye on your breathing and make sure you have your rescue inhaler with you...if you happen to have breathing problems be sure to use your rescue inhaler. Albuterol works fast and will stop your coughing/improve your breathing quickly and you'll be on your merry way within minutes! If your doctor tells you to pre-medicate before you exercise, be sure to do that because doing so will prevent breathing problems from starting in the first place.
1596864 tn?1333485191 Many people will pretreat with their rescue inhaler before exercise. Since you will most likely be outside, you should talk to your doctor about other measures you can take as well. If you have allergies, they could trigger your asthma as well. You may need an antihistamine or various types of nasal spray. Take care.
Avatar f tn The pollen has been so high and I discovered a mold problem in my house. I have been using my rescue inhaler more, and the spasms in my chest are more frequent. Is it related? This discussion is related to Allergies and Epstein Barr Virus.
746512 tn?1388807580 I have been diagnosed with asthma myself. I take Singulair oral medication. I have Albuterol for a rescue inhaler, which I don't use all the time. In other words, I have to remind myself to use it when necessary. I don't use a peak flow meter, although I probably should. I wouldn't obsess with using the meter that much. I would talk to your doctor about the problems though. Also, try to relax a little bit.
Avatar n tn Flovent is not a rescue inhaler. Who told you that? Only Albuterol nebs or inhalers are rescue inhalers, Flovent is aka fluticasone, you can grow aspergillus with flovent and advair. Did you read the patient information that it can also cause resp infections as well as cataracts, over time? Have you changed your toothbrush, had dental cleanings or told your MD/ Have you been offered Mycelex lozenges or Diflucan?
1754037 tn?1327886811 Has anyone taken their albuterol inhaler thru out ur pregnancy??? I'm a bit worried if it is safe for my baby! I been taking it since it's the only thing I can take when I can't breath. I just need some re assurance that it is safe & wondering if any1 else pregnant & taking albuterol inhaler.
1300043 tn?1272812819 Nicole - sorry I didn't see your original post, just read it now. GERD is very common with COPD and the reflux (even silent without the traditional heartburn) can cause significant coughing like you described. Perhaps you could try some OTC meds like Prilosec for 2-4 weeks and see if it helps..... Marji - COPD is a progressive disease. Albuterol is a 'rescue' inhaler to help with bronchospasm - which can happen with emphysema and asthma.
Avatar f tn I’m 21 years old and healthy. I rarely have to use my emergency inhaler (albuterol). I only take it if I’m sick, have allergies or am about to work out. I was sitting in class and felt like I was starting to have an asthma attack so I took the inhaler twice but I still feel like I’m not breathing at full capacity, like my lungs a “foggy”. I was wondering why this might be and what I should do next?
Avatar f tn I caught a cold about 2 weeks ago and I developed a sinus infection. I have a history of Asthma, High Blood Pressure, Sleep Apnea and Sero-Negative Rheumatoid Arthritis. My best peak flow is 500. I am a 56 year old woman and was not on any preventative asthma meds at the time of catching the cold and development of the sinus infection.
Avatar f tn For asthma is it dangerous to use only your rescue inhaler, especially if you've been prescribed a steroid inhaler to control your symptoms. Asthmatics have died due to badly out of control asthma, where they have over relied on their rescue inhalers. I would not recommend that you do this. The problem is that due to the presence of excess inflammation, the airways tend to get get hypersensitive and constrict the muscles around them, which in turn reduces the airflow even further.
Avatar f tn Since you have had asthma all your life, I assume you always have a rescue inhaler on hand at all times. Mine is ProAir, albuterol sulfate if you will. That said, I have been on Advair for the last 10 years, and my asthma is now very controlled. Only time I need my inhaler is if I am doing extreme cardio exercise. Advair is a god send for me.
Avatar f tn I have asthma and I take my dulara inhaler and my rescue inhaler I had to cut don't on my dulara because they said it can cause birth defects but I need to take it at least once a day in order to breath normal. I don't take it like I'm supposed to in fear of hurting the baby but as I get father along its harder to breath.
Avatar n tn I want to make sure neither contain any steroids and I also want to find out which rescue inhaler is safe for me to use.Thank you.
Avatar f tn s well controlled on medications which have included in the past yrs of treatment on Singular, along with inhaled and/or oral steroids/long acting inhaler and rescue albuterol inhaler as needed. Benadryl is oftentimes needed (in high end dosing) for many days at a time after a food reaction occurs.
Avatar f tn Now 4 months into the treatment I only have to use my rescue inhaler once every 2-3 weeks (I did switch from advair to pulmicort though due to the price tag).
Avatar f tn Helicopters rarely exceed 1500 foot above ground level, and usually are below 1,000 feet. If you are comfortable at ground level the helicopter ride will be no problem. I used to fly them way back when Obama was a gleam in his father's eye. I hate Alaska. I was there once on a military exercise. Toooooo cold. Yes, the inhaler can freeze. Keep it next to your body.
Avatar f tn Today while I am not as tired as I have been since I have been sick, the chest tightness reoccurred briefly in the afternoon. Using my albuterol inhaler helped, then the coughing returned. I still have a lot of mucus and my chest is slightly tight. It is all not as bad as it was before but is the medrol pack supposed to help clear this up? I thought at the very least I would have relief during the 6 days I am on it.
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone here uses an albuterol inhaler and are they safe to use during pregnancy? I use one every now and then but not on a daily basis. I'm only 5 weeks along. I used mine tonight because I felt like I absolutely had to.
Avatar f tn You should discuss with your physician the purchase of an electric albuterol sulfate inhaler, as well as trying Foradil inhaler.
