Avatar n tn I have multiple issues...oxygen dependent due to pulmonary fibrosis after chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis. I'm on Advair 500/50, Singulair, Allegra, Mucinex and have been stable for over a year. I also have a history of seasonal allergies (life long) and adult onset asthma. Two weeks ago some respiriatory infection set in: don't know if it was a virus intially--it felt that way--scratchy throat, tender glands, ears plugged.
Avatar f tn Can we just discuss the pros and cons for daycare for infants as early as 6 weeks? Im still uncertain of daycare for my newborn.
Avatar f tn Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus. Albuterol (qid) Combivent (BID) combined treatment resolved shortness of breath finally so dropped albuterol and combivent... but cough still persists. Follow up again with Pulm increased dosage of Flovent to 110. Sorry so detailed, just wanted to convey that we have tried MANY approaches. He is still coughing. Albeit less frequently on some days, but still very bronchial cough. Wet, non productive. No drainage and No fevers EVER.
Avatar n tn For many years, GER [Gastroesophageal reflux] during infancy and childhood was thought to be a consequence of absent or diminished LES tone [lower esophageal sphincter, which is sometimes also referred to as the Cardiac Sphincter due to its proximity to the heart]. However, studies have shown that baseline LES pressures are normal in pediatric patients, even in preterm infants.
Avatar n tn The Foradil will last for a long time. It will save you a hospital bill on a bad day. The albuterol suflate is short-acting. The steroidal inhalers do NOT work immediately.
Avatar n tn Albuterol is a bronchodilator used to treat many of the same issues as Flovent, but it can also be used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Albuterol comes in a syrup, tablet, or as a suspension in an inhaler. Albuterol works by causing the passages to the lung to relax and open, which makes breathing easier.
Avatar m tn During that time he got an ear infection, now it has recovered, but during one of the doctors said he should start using albuterol for his cough if it contiues, that he had during his ear infection. His ear infection has gone away, but his cough hasn't! Should I use albuterol or some other medicine, or am I able to treat it without using any drugs. I also gave him claritin to see if it was caused by allergies but that did not work. Help would be appreciated! Thank you!
Avatar m tn The doctor may decide that you now need a prescription for the steroid type of inhaler to use once or twice a day and the Albuterol as and when you need it. There are different types of steroid inhalers, but their job is about the same. So if the doctor prescribes you with one that is not helping, do get back to him to try you on a different one.
Avatar f tn I was having a hard time breathing 2 nights ago and decided to try my daughters albuterol inhaler. I used 5 puffs over a 24 hour period. I dont know why but I assumed it was harmless to use while pregnant. Now im looking online and see its a class C! Im nervous I may have done harm to baby. Anyone else use albuterol while pregnant first trimester?
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone here uses an albuterol inhaler and are they safe to use during pregnancy? I use one every now and then but not on a daily basis. I'm only 5 weeks along. I used mine tonight because I felt like I absolutely had to.
Avatar f tn Albuterol is considered safe to use in pregnancy, and as your doc said, definitely gotta keep you breathing!

454286 tn?1205883067 HI, my son (4 years old) has been coughing for a very long time with no answers from his doctors. His first xray in November of 2007 showed Atalectasis. Docs sent him home saying he had Croup and that atalectasis would clear up. Still coughing all these months, new pediatrician was diagnosed with Asthma in December. His asthma is also exercise induced. Saw pulmonologist and gave him Flow Vent and Albuterol inhalers , along with Decadron when the flare ups occurred and Croup.
587778 tn?1261397118 3 weeks ago my 16 year old daughter had a bad reaction to the fumes that her art supplies produced. She was treated for asthma in the ER and sent home with an albuterol inhaler and prednisone. Within a few days, she was hospitalized due to a severe reaction to the prednisone and albuterol. She will never be able to take any medication with a steroid. Since then, she has had exercise and cold induced attacks.

1754037 tn?1327886811 Thank you ALL for the replies :) I appreciate it ALOT. I wish I remembered that other one he was going to prescribe to me but I go back in a month to see how often I'm needing my albuterol. All I know is he said it's a steroid form I'd inhale once a day! I also heard from sum1 that there baby had a birth defect & she thinks it's cause of her inhaler she was taking thru out pregnancy but this was like 15yrs ago! I'm sure lots of things have changed.
757137 tn?1347196453 Hello and hope you are doing well. Albuterol is a short-acting bronchodilator, it eases symptoms by opening the airways during an asthma flare-up. It is a β-adrenergic agonist. Side effects are restlessness, irritability and nervousness. Ipratropium blocks the effect of acetylcholine on airways (bronchi) and nasal passages. This is used as an alternative to Albuterol if the side effects are severe with Albuterol.
