Avatar f tn This season came around and sure enough, when he got a cold it went straight to lungs (wheezing, SOB, coughing) We started inhaled steroid (budesonide), albuterol regimen again. Proved unsuccessful to resolve cough. Round of Orapred proved unsuccessful to resolve cough. After four months we consulted with Pulmonologist. Switched up steriod to inhaled Flovent 44 instead of nebulizer and albuterol qid. No results. Chest x-ray and blood allergy (why not at this point) ordered and clear.
678431 tn?1227554311 I use Albuterol Inhalers for my asthma and I've been recently having some trouble with 'em. My mom and I share the same dosages, which I find really weird since I just merely have asthma and she has emphysema as well. But, I've brought that to the attention of m doctor but she still said I needed the same dosage. Plus, it makes me really jittery and shaky.
Avatar f tn I have trouble getting a breath and my chest gets tight, especially when im in cold weather or if im in a warm shower it tightens my chest. Doctors said they believe its asthma, but inhalers dont work for me. I am using Dulera and Albuterol. Any other ideas on what this could be?
Avatar f tn does albuterol increase the heart rate in children, because after i gave it to my son i noticed that his heart was beating really hard a fast
Avatar n tn I gave a lot of thought before posting again, because I am sure you are the greastest mom and would never want to endanger your children. This post IS NOT a criticism, or an attempt to make you feel badly. Albuterol is a "last ditch" emergency medication. When you reach for the albuterol you are "reaching for lung reserve". Once that albuterol is ingested, the lung has no more reserve.
Avatar n tn Long-term use comes with serious side effects both for adults and for children, but more serious for children. If you are concerned ask your doctor for effective non-steroidal substitutes. I got off inhales steroids three years ago after suffering health problems caused by it. I now use natural anti-inflammatories plus nebulized albuterol and an anti-histamine.
Avatar f tn I have not used Spiriva so I am unsure of its dosage, but I have taken ipratropium which is in the same class. As a neb solution it lasts 6 hours and as an MDI it last 4 hours. Check your prescription for dosing on this medication. Advair is a combination medication used to treat COPD and asthma. It has two active components a cortocosteroid (antiinflamatory) AND an LABA (long acting beta2 agonist that lasts 12 hours). Beta2 agonists are the broncho-dilaters.
Avatar n tn If he is taking albuterol for treatment of asthma, this could be the culprit. I used to take albuterol to treat my asthma symptoms but my Dr suggested a change to Atrovent. I can understand your concerns about putting him through an ablation procedure. My daughter has had similar episodes when she was 8. We were sent to a pedi cardio who gave us an event monitor. Needless to say, the only thing the event monitor did was to send her into a panic state thinking the thing would zap her.
212161 tn?1599427282 (acts quickly) inhalers such albuterol can cause palpitations and arrhythmias. But this reaction is rare as long as you use the recommended dosage. Steroid inhalers are maintenance inhalers meant to prevent asthma attacks. They do not have cause palpitations and arrhythmias.
Avatar f tn Today while I am not as tired as I have been since I have been sick, the chest tightness reoccurred briefly in the afternoon. Using my albuterol inhaler helped, then the coughing returned. I still have a lot of mucus and my chest is slightly tight. It is all not as bad as it was before but is the medrol pack supposed to help clear this up? I thought at the very least I would have relief during the 6 days I am on it.
435139 tn?1255460391 even walking from one room to another is a huge toll on me...I read that albuterol is a class C drug and has not been studied in pregnancy in humans...in animals is is linked to cleft palate defects and other defects too! Since I am in the 2ww I am not sure if I took my albuterol in my nebulizer if I'd be risking my potential babies health. I'll call my pharmacist or dr. in a couple hours but it is only 5 a.m. and I won't be able to call until 9...when they open.
Avatar n tn The reason is that in a small amount of cases it has caused swelling of the brain. If you look at the label on cough syrup for children, even those typically recommend for age 6 and up (at least the brands I have seen.) When my 2 1/2 year old has a cold with a cough I give him milk slightly warmed with honey in it. I have also given him a teaspoon of honey on it's own. It works extremely well.
Avatar f tn I had the flu (a long with my husband and children) we were all really sick for about 5 days. Everyone got over it except for me. I don't feel like it is the flu now though. I have a horrible cough. So 5 days ago I went to the Urgent Care and Dr said probably pneumonia. She gave me antibiotics, prednisone, and albuterol. It has been 5 days. The fevers are just higher. They dont even get better with ibuprofen. I can't function. I have small kids. I feel to sick to drive to the doctor.
1580703 tn?1651904887 it seems that maybe qvar might be better than prednisone since it gets into your lungs directly?
Avatar f tn Other than that it can be due to pinched cervical spinal nerves, clot in a blood vessel, localized dermatitis or even dandruff. Peripheral neuropathy as in diabetes too could be a cause. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn Do you really want to be giving your son Pulmicort under any circumstances? It is a corticosteroid with many side effects. For instance it compromises the immune system and weakens bones. For a growing boy that does not sound great. There are natural anti-inflammatories that actually work better than steroids and which do not harm the patient. The albuterol is OK.
Avatar n tn I have two children. My daughter is 2 and my son will be 1 in April. They both have horrible breathing problems. My daughter's breathing started to get nasty around 5 months of age and has been good and bad since. My son's breathing just started recently. They are both on pulmacort and albuterol and my son was just put on predisolone. Nothing is working!! Does anyone have any advice? We are a NON smoking home and would NEVER let anyone near our children with ciggarettes.
454366 tn?1211245301 Please read the info on www.jonbarron.org on Bi-Polar disorder in children. The info is kinda scary; but I think you might help with finding other avenues to take. Peace be with you and keep the faith. Our kids are our future. Let's not just dope them up because we are told to. Let's not dope ourselves up either.
Avatar m tn Your medication may not be adequate to control your symptoms. So, please consult your doctor to change the dosage or the medication. Lung function tests could further help to assess the status. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Albuterol is a bronchodilator used to treat many of the same issues as Flovent, but it can also be used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Albuterol comes in a syrup, tablet, or as a suspension in an inhaler. Albuterol works by causing the passages to the lung to relax and open, which makes breathing easier.
Avatar f tn The only prescription medication I use now is Duoneb (albuterol and ipratropium) in a nebulizer. I use about two ampules a day. I do not use a rescue inhaler. Instead I have a small, portable nebulizer. It is so small that it fits into my purse. The advantage is that I can take as little as I need, sometimes just a few puffs. It is made by Omron and costs about $200. It is worth every cent.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with an exercise induced asthma and prescribed a 90 mcg albuterol inhaler. I didn't use it much as I was fine most of the time. But just recently I have been having to use my inhaler every few hours or so because if I don't I get really short breathed. I don't know what's going on and it's worrying me.
Avatar f tn My dr had me on albuterol in the 1st tri of my last preg...I couldn't breathe and used it for a week. No harm to baby.
677938 tn?1226344160 Hi. I Have Asthma && I Use An Albuterol Inhalation. And Everytime I Have An Asthma Attack I Use It And It Feels Like I Cant Catch My Breath..Whats Going On? Its Had Me In The Hospital Many Of Time ??
Avatar f tn I have asthma and have been having a hard time breathing these past two days but really bad tonight.. I just used my albuterol and I'm so scared its going to hurt my baby. My Dr told me its better to breathe lol but I'm just being paranoid n worried.. anyone have asthma and used albuterol during pregnancy?
Avatar n tn As you know the clinical trials of Pulmicort Flexhaler® (budesonide inhalation powder) were performed on children age 6 and above. Since we know the medicine is safe for use in very young children from Pulmicort Respules™ (budesonide inhalation suspension) the most likely reason they chose 6 and above was because many children less than age 6 would not be able to use this delivery device effectively.
