Avatar m tn This response to your question will have two parts. the first part is my advice to stay off of the internet. The reports of persons not developing antibodies to HIV over a prolonged period are an internet fueled myth with little or no current basis in fact. The published reports are old and represent the results of efforts to diagnose and understand HIV using methods which are no longer used because newer methods are better.
Avatar f tn I don’t have any kind of Hiv risks but I have all the symptoms of aids,my tongue is white always ,I have white lines in my cheeks it started about 5 years ago and still is.
3230925 tn?1397615965 The vaccine exposes the human body to a non-infectious sub-unit of the hepatitis C virus in order for the body to develop antibodies. These antibodies are able to cross-neutralize against the seven genotypes of the virus. “Previously, many people believed that the virus was impossible to neutralize with just one type of vaccine because there are so many different genotypes,” explained John Law, a member of the U of A research team.
Avatar m tn s more in the early days of HIV/AIDs, there were some people who would point to these rare cases and insist that HIV does not cause AIDs.
Avatar m tn The vaccine is recommended for younger women because younger women have a better response to the vaccine (higher levels of antibodies to HPV) and because in most nations, most persons acquire HPV before they are in their mid 20's. That does not mean that the vaccine will not benefit your wife. It is fine for her to be vaccinated and the vaccine will likely benefit her. You are clearly more concerned about the single rather low risk exposure that you described.
Avatar n tn uncompetent immune system is the one from aids people, aids with no hiv due to drugs addiction or alcool addiction, or depressed immune system by steroids, chemio or anti rejection transplanted people......
Avatar n tn if you are newly infected with HIV...you should know that! AIDS is later in the stage of infection when an HIV+ person becomes susceptible to opportunistic infections, and whose lab work indicates that they have progressed to "AIDS" classification. There is a correlation between the Lymes reactions and HIV...but I am unversed in all that...hence why it is a good idea to f/u with an ID doctor. This is why WB's are done....to rule out...or confirm infection.
55646 tn?1263660809 Instead of an oral medication to treat herpes, Genocea out of Boston has taken the approach of stimulating the immune system to respond more robustly to the herpes virus in people who are already infected with the virus. The routinely available oral medicines interfere with replication of the virus, but this treatment is designed to allow the immune system to respond more effectively to the virus and subsequently reduce the frequency of recurrences and reduce viral shedding.
Avatar f tn But my question is, as 7 months had passed so does it happen that my body builded antibodies in time but by the seven months it disappeared. Or i have turned to aids directly? I tested at 7months, 1 year, 2 year after that incident, always with ELISA and result was always negative. Please help me, i am so stressed, living each day in depression...
Avatar n tn Suppose someone who does NOT have the HIV virus at all, is having today a vaccine (e.g flu shot) and the antibodies developed by this vaccine are known to be cross reactive with the HIV antibody test. Will he always get false positives in the ELISA/rapid HIV tests or will the cross-reactive vaccine antibodies go away with time and hence after 6 months (or so) this person can continue using the standard screen HIV tests and get –ve results as normally?
Avatar f tn The separation of antigens in the technique allows for the identification of specific antibodies to each of the viral antigens in a subsequent set of steps similar to the ELISA methodology. A purified HIV antigen mixture is layered onto a sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) polyacrylamide gel slab and then electrophoresed. The viral proteins (HIV antigens) migrate through the molecular pores of the gel at rates determined by electrical charge and molecular weight.
Avatar f tn I have opted out of vaccinating my children upon personal and medical grounds. The state of Michigan mandates that any child who is being put into public schools to be vaccinated, and that does not exclude children who are being home schooled. Here is a bit of research I found with the help of my pediatrician in filing a complaint with the states board of health and the school board administration. This is just a sample of what I have found....
Avatar n tn 1. Your partner may or may not had HIV. Most people do not. At the same time I acknowledge that his evasive answers are concerning. 2. IF he had HIV, the risk of infection from a single act of receptive rectal intercourse with an infected partner is 1 infection per 100 exposures -1%, thus the odds are very much in your favor. 3. You have been repeatedly tested using a test that tests for antigen and antibody. These tests give reliable results within 8 weeks following exposure.
Avatar f tn the vaccine does not always “take”. It must be sufficient to cause the production of antibodies, and this isn’t always the case. I’ve failed to develop HBV antibodies after two attempts; case in point. You might need to re-vaccinate, possibly with a larger dose of antigen. Ask your doctor about the Twin-rix vaccine; it is intended to proved immunity against HAV as well as HBV. If money is an issue, call your county health dept.
Avatar m tn The survey of 230,179 cases of AIDS reported to the AIDS Reporting System initially revealed 299 HIV-seronegative patients. The evaluation of 172 of these patients (58 percent) is complete. Of these 172 patients, 131 have been reclassified as being HIV-positive, 4 have been reclassified as having some other type of defined immunodeficiency, and 8 HIV-exposed infants died before their serostatus could be determined.
Avatar m tn its been 15 weeks since my exposure and I tested negative at 13 weeks mark for the hbsag then one week later I got the first dose of the hep b vaccination do u think I did the right thing ?? what should I do next ?? am planing to get tested at 17 weeks mark for hbsag and the antihbv . so if my result came back positive for the antibodies and negative for the antigen would u consider me free from hbv ?? Thank you..
Avatar n tn So once you have hiv, you'll have hiv antibodies present for the rest of your life? or do some people stop making antibodies if they develop an advanced form of aids?
Avatar n tn Why does the hiv test is for antibodies and not for the virus??? what if you dont have any Antibodies if a person is close to his/her death, are there any cases where the antibodies where not found and the person dies from the disease i.e AIDS thank you.
Avatar n tn Do people with hiv show hiv antibodies for the rest of there life, even in the terminal stage of aids? And is it possible that someone could catch the hiv virus and in 3 years develop aids in an advanced stage if that person where unaware that they where hiv possitive and where not receiving treatment for hiv? Or does anyone with hiv always test positive for hiv antibodies even if they had developed an advanced stage of aids?
Avatar m tn At all 3 visits, HIV RNA was undetectable using both the ultrasensitive Roche viral load assay and the APTIMA HIV RNA qualitative assay, which is cleared by the FDA for diagnosis of HIV infection. No ARV drugs were detected in the samples, indicating that the participant was most likely an elite controller who may have been unaware of his HIV status.
Avatar n tn But my question is... Would there still be HIV antibodies (antibodies that the blood test will pick up) in the body after 5 years of exposure ?? (assuming u were HIV positive). Thank you.
