Avatar m tn Options for Anonymous or Confidential Testing in Massachusetts" and open it up. http://www.maclearinghouse.com/PDFs/HIV_AIDS/hiv-counseling-eng.pdf See what it has to say on page 2 regarding the window period. "It can take up to 6 weeks for your body to produce enough antibodies to be detected by the test" By the way, the first page shows how this is sponsored and supported by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health HIV/AIDS Bureau - June 2003.
Avatar n tn As you know, Massachusetts AIDS services would declare this 8-week test absolutely conclusive without qualification since I’m a healthy young male. Common sense tells me that MA could never get away with their 6-week window periods if MD and VA were anywhere near correct with their statistics. So, why does CDC allow these State health initiatives, of which they hold the purse strings, to offer such divergent information?
Avatar m tn Your chances are about 1 in 1000, that is if she is even positive, which is not likely. Testing at the 3 month mark is the CDC guideline for a conclusive result, but several outlets suggest 6 weeks is enough time to develop antibodies if you were infected. From the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts: "Most people will test accurately for HIV after 6 weeks have passed since their last risk.
Avatar f tn Hansfield, I felt so much better after your message and I also called the Aids Hotline which was out of Boston Massachusetts. They told me that my 6 week negative rapid Unigold test was conclusive unless I was undergoing chemotherapy, had an organ transplant etc.

Avatar m tn ve spent much time reading forums (including heated debates, and unfortunate name calling) and web sites, and clearly different belief systems exist about testing windows - all the way from Lisa Capaldini MD on the Aegis forum saying that current generation antibody tests are conclusive within 3-4 weeks, versus the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts web site saying 6 weeks is conclusive, to the more typical 13 week recommendation, and also the 26 week (and occasionally longer) suggestions.
Avatar f tn I just found out about 12 years ago my mate was unfaithful and i have gotten tested recently with an third generation eia antibody test hiv1/2 with reflexes, a rapid blood test, 4 oraquick home tests and all came back negative. But ive read ur post that some people with aids antibodies wont show on those tests. Im very scared that im in that stage and the tests i took arent sufficient enough to know for sure.
Avatar m tn I have a couple of questions about pep and testing. I had a high risk MSM encounter I was the receptive partner and the condom came off. The partner who was anonymous, later found out a csw as well, claimed that they "should" be negative but hadn't tested lately. I was prescribed PEP (truvada, tivicay) initiated 25 hours post exposure on the reccomendation of the hiv infectious disease counselor in my area.
Avatar f tn I think it covers the diagnostic testing to determine where the infertility issue is but not the actual IVF procedure.
Avatar m tn Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states they will present data from a similar study of macaque monkeys this week at the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections in Boston, Massachusetts. Jonathan Mermin, director of the U.S. National Center for HIV/AIDS in Atlanta, Georgia, states the results point out that the shot is also effective in averting infections after exposure through the vagina. Avatar f tn The quote unquote assault weapons bill, or excuse me the quote unquote assault weapons ban, was already law in Massachusetts. It was already permanent in Massachusetts. This bill actually provided some relief to gun owners in the state of Massachusetts. It was portrayed and it has been portrayed in the media as Governor Romney signed a bill to ban quote unquote assault weapons in the state of Massachusetts. But that's not the case.
