Also since u have said your encounters are post 8 months. u have covered the longest window period. Test is the only way to know your status, not symptoms.

Avatar f tn Antibody production can take anywhere from 3-12 weeks +/- after exposure, but all humans WILL eventually develop antibodies. There has never been a case of anyone going from HIV to full blown AIDS without developing antibodies.

Avatar m tn Yes according to most national guidelines, I know. However not in France where the labs, docs and the Aids Organisation gives you a conclusive result after 6 weeks. They told me I was negative and don't need do further testings, unless I had another unsafe event since. The french have discovered the virus, so they seem to have good science on HIV/Aids there.

Avatar f tn The guidelines we go by at MedHelp are the recommendations of some of the worlds most well known and respected HIV/AIDS experts. We recommend the 4th generation DUO test 28 days post exposure and a confirmatory test at 12 weeks for a 100% conclusive result. Your doctor goes by different guidelines. Perhaps you should ask him why he thinks so many experts are wrong.

Avatar m tn I was dating a guy for nine months who I believe is at high risk for having HIV. At the time I had no idea. Three or so months after first having intercourse I started coming down with many health problems. I developed pneumonia, strange blotches on my body, and oral thrush. My doctor didn't figure out that I had pnuemonia for a couple of months and thought that the allergy medication he had me on for the skin blotches had caused the oral thrush.
