Common Questions and Answers about Advair with spacer

advair

Avatar f tn Thank you both so much for your response. I don't think I can use a spacer with the spiriva inhaler but I will try buying new toothbrushes. I always forget about that!!
Avatar m tn How long can one safely be on Advair? I have been on it for several years. Also, I am wondering if my dry mouth and dry eyes are a result of this medication.
Avatar f tn I had to discover it myself which I resent bitterly. There are deaths reported with the use of Advair, the prime culprit may be salmeterol. It is interesting that the death rate with or without Advair is the same. Be warned. This is a very dangerous medication. Since I need something to help me because I am having to use the nebulizer more than I would like, I have turned to natural anti-inflammatories. So far I am using vitamin B5, MSM and mullein extract, and will probably add NAC.
Avatar n tn Lately I begin to have constant burning sensation along my trachea. Currently I take Advair and Pro-air for my asthma and I am wondering if they have any thing to do with it. I would like to limit the amount of medication that I inhale or take due to possible side effects, so if anyone knows of any remedy that might treat this burning sensation, then please reply back to me.
Avatar f tn Maybe you could try Symbicort instead of Advair and it will work better for you. Do you use a spacer with all your inhalers? You might need one to make sure the medication is getting into your smaller airways. I would also say exercise because that will help increase your lung function greatly. Besides that make sure you are taking lots of vitamin C, D, B6 and magnesium. Lastly, breathing exercises everyday can help you feel less short of breath.
Avatar f tn I'm on advair 250, i also now have a blue puffer that is fast acting. I dont know if its dry or powder. And i always regurgitate foamy spit do you think that has anything to do with anything? I've been kinda not doing my steroid puffer because im scared too so i dont take it all the time, is that really bad?
Avatar f tn I never experienced those symptoms while on Advair and I used Advair for many many years. After reading your comments I am stopping Dulera and going back to Advair, it worked better and I trust it better than Dulera. Another thing I have noticed is the Dulera applicator will fail to deliver the medication, I will have to try it over and over again and in the meant time, the counter of the application continues to count each activation even though it fails to deliver the medication.
Avatar n tn A couple of years ago, around the age of 13, my daughter started getting exercise-induced asthma and since then it has turned into full-blown asthma which has to be treated daily now (she is now 16). She was on QVAR, which didn't work very well, then we went to ADVAIR, which the insurance company encouraged me to change her from because it was so insanely expensive and now she is taking Dulera (which I think is working better than ADVAIR was) one puff each in the a.m. and p.m.
746512 tn?1388807580 I'm having a lot of trouble lately with my asthma control now that I've started classes again. I seem to be ultra sensitive now (more than I was last year on campus) of cigarette smoke. I have to walk outside to get to some of classes and if I pass more than one person smoking or get too many wifts in my face, my chest really tightens up and I'm forced to use my rescue inhaler. The problem is this has been an almost daily occurence and I hate taking ventolin that regularly.
1555914 tn?1296474056 If it is, you may want to ask your doctor about using a spacer. A spacer is a tubular chamber that holds the inhaler in one end while the other is the mouth piece. It makes developing the propper technique much easier and also allows much more of the medication to make it into the lungs. Respiratory therapists insist that their patients use them. Take care and feel better.
Avatar m tn My asthma is not controlled without Advair, but is stable with one dose daily. I would like to take Harmine alkaloids (Harmine, Harmaline), but I'm not sure if Salmeterol is safe to take with Harmine alkaloids as they are MAOI (reversible MAOI however) are they safe to combine? Thank you!
Avatar m tn I am so used to my birth control that I always start on or around the time of my spacer pills. This month I started my period at the time of my spacer pills on Dec. 9th. It was a normal 6 day/regular flow period for me ending on the 15th. To my surprise I started again on Christams Eve... Dec. 24th. So from the end of one period, to the beginning of another was only 9 days apart. It is currently day 10 of this second period. The first 7 days were just as a normal period...
Avatar n tn In the x-ray room, my daughter went hysterical therefore the nurse held her by the jaw to prevent her from struggling, pulled the x-ray’s cone right up besides her mouth and took the X-ray shot. The cone was not attached to a long spacer. In fact, I’m not even sure if there was a short spacer. It just looks like an integrated part of the X-ray. The X-ray machine was not digital and I am unsure what film-speed it uses (D, E or F speed).
Avatar f tn OK my 7 year old has having problems with the space in her mouth. The dentist said we needed to put in a space maintainer and pull out her 4 canine teeth. So that when her other teeth start to fall out there will be space for them to come in. Since we put in the maint-fixed bilateral spacer the space where to canine teeth are suppose to be has almost closed. I have went and seen the dentist because the wire pushes on the bottom four front teeth which are all adult teeth.
Avatar n tn ve had this floating spacer for about 8 years, with no problems and no cost (insurance paid). I was appalled at how something like this easy answer was not offered to me in the first place, but i guess it's all about money. I think the only reason he offered it at all is because of all the insurance claims he gets from our whole family.
Avatar n tn He had a spell in hospital last year for a couple of days and is now taking a preventative Clenil 50 inhaler one puff am and pm. He takes this with a spacer. I am breastfeeding my two year old. Sometimes when I administer the inhaler, as he breathes in and out I can smell or taste the medicine. I usually assume that the amount going into me is minute as it's coming out into the air although I usually try to duck out of the air flow!
1580085 tn?1400940838 i had explained how i couldnt walk fast or climb stairs etc, as i felt i wasnt getting enough air, it felt like i was trying to walk in treacle, i was just given an inhaler, which is no help, now its getting much worse, and i have to sleep propped up, i am in the uk(england), and i havent been offered any treatment , or advice to help me in any way, they just dont seem to bother with it, just tell us what it is, my mother died last year with asthma and copd, i just wondered if anyone has any ti
Avatar n tn AS I satated I am on Advair since last June. It greatly helps with my shortness of breath, and I am much less sensitive to many chemicals and cleaners (though some I still cannot tolerate ) when I am on it. My hope though, is to hopefully find a a way to come off the inhailed steroids. I am not on hypertension meds. I am on Synthroid, Do you feel that reflex is the cause or related to this problem?
920032 tn?1550680156 I sympathize with your issues on finding meds that work. I also cannot take the dry powders. The technique for using them is different than other inhalers. If your doctor didn't train you well on how to use them, that could be part of the problem you had. Also, the fact that they are powder and the powder settles on the vocal cords and other parts of the respiratory tract causes irritation. That makes me cough constantly as well.
Avatar n tn The FDA taged advair with a black box warning the agencys highest caution level.New strategy,no matter what you may have heard,aLABA,such as the one in Advair,is not your only option.mild asthma,an inhaled corticosteroid such as flovent is often all you need.Still wheezing, patients can also consider an inhaled corticosteroid paired with a leukotriene modifier.Hope this helps you,and doesnt worry you.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have been on the highest level of Advair for about 2 1/2 years with very short periods at mid level. I have always bruised easily, but have not had any more problems than normal. Have you also taken a lot of oral prednesone in your lifetime? Oral steroids can cause thinning of the skin which leads to easy bruising. It can also cause problems with other systems that can manifest in easy bruising.
Avatar f tn t see any problem with using the Advair. As always, be careful with how you use it but inhaling Advair should not be a problem after the first 24-48 hours. Also, when we mention to be careful when spitting or sucking through a straw, I believe that generates more pressure in the oral cavity than the use of Advair. I haven't personally used it but it doesn't seem to be as intense.
Avatar f tn Steroids are often worse than the disease it treats. Advair almost killed me. By the way, steroids harm your immune system. And - reputable doctors are no long using Adviar 500. And in Februrary the FDA came out with a warning about Advair. They said it should only be used when nothing else worked and, even then, it should only be used short term. Maybe you need another doctor.
