Avatar m tn why do i cough up blood? my dr. has tried to explain it to me, something about air ways, air vents, etc. i do this the majority of the time maybe 2 days in between doing so. sometimes it's bright red and then sometimes a darker pink. i have 50% breathing capacity and am on oxygen. it's real scary even though i've been told not to worry about it. i take advair and spiriva and don't cough up that much but when i do and it is very little.
Avatar n tn I have had several problems with advair such as thrush and irregular heart beat. Also, my endocrinologist suggested that my osteopinia (sp?) could be related to advair use but it's just one possible culprit. I'm a runner and just finished a marathon and got thrush again from advair so decided I wanted to at least take a break from it. Well, it's been a few days and I have never had such breathing problems before I used advair, I have a constant headache and I'm exhausted.
1679876 tn?1304743615 I have been given Advair to take for my copd, but one side effect is fast and irregular heart beat, chest pain and increased BP----I take Metoprolol succ er for my PSVT--- -Will the Advair Diskus work against my metoprolol meds? I am alllergic to Penasylin, tetrocycoline, decadron, dyphahidromine, and benedril. My other meds I take are: zolof, welbrutrin, seroquel xr, gabapentine, tizanidine hcl and pravastatin sodium----will there be any adverse reactions to any of these meds?
Avatar n tn The warnings that come with Advair say that people with Thyroid disease shouldn't take it. I am a sever asthmatic on 8 medications, but I also have Graves disease and had my thyroid killed. Therefore, I take Amour Thyroid. What is the problem with Advair and thyroid disease? My mother and brother who have hypothyroidism are also on Advair.
Avatar m tn I have been on Advair for one week. It has completely taken my taste and smell ability away. I am not going to take it any more, but will my taste and smell senses return with time? Avatar f tn They said that I likely have asthma and prescribed me with Advair 100/50 for a year. During the one month that I took Advair I was concerned about drug dependency, side effects, high costs of the drug ($180 per month), and the necessity for it since I have NEVER had an asthma attack. During the month of using Advair, I noticed my shortness of breath a little less than before, but the difference was so mild that I couldn't really tell if Advair was making a difference or not.
757137 tn?1347196453 Advair has a steroid in it, which can cause hair growth, etc. I took Advair for my COPD briefly. I simply did not like the side effects that it seem to give me.
Avatar n tn it seems like advair is making my asthma worse. i started taking advair like 7 month ago and it seemed like for the first few months it was working but i had to become dependant on it everyday or else i would start weezing nonstop. after that my weezing was worst than ever and i started noticing that after i used advair my weezing was much worse. i saw this thread yesterday and now for a day and a half i havent used it and i feel alot better.
757137 tn?1347196453 Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? Avatar n tn A couple of years ago, around the age of 13, my daughter started getting exercise-induced asthma and since then it has turned into full-blown asthma which has to be treated daily now (she is now 16). She was on QVAR, which didn't work very well, then we went to ADVAIR, which the insurance company encouraged me to change her from because it was so insanely expensive and now she is taking Dulera (which I think is working better than ADVAIR was) one puff each in the a.m. and p.m.
Avatar n tn I dont have productive coughs anymore after stopping the advair. It seems the advair was making the mucous come up like crazy. I am seeing a doctor in a couple of days to get a pft without the advair.
Avatar n tn Having been on Advair for one year, I now have "frogs" in throat which causes me - a singer - to lose my voice when singing low notes. The Advair was discontinued and I am now on Symbicort which, I am afraid, is causing the same problem. Is there a simple "home remedy" for this problem? Thank you.
Avatar m tn You might want to read up on the side effects of Advair. There has been a movement away from the use of inhaled steroids. I stopped using Advair almost four years ago.after developing serious side effects. My condition actually improved when I got off it. You might be interested to know that inhaled steroids do not reduce mortality. I tried Spiriva but found it very drying and had to stop using it.
1927715 tn?1392055940 Did anyone just watch the today show about crib bumpers? I forget what year but 665 babies died from crib related deaths. One baby was 7 weeks old and died bc his head was wedged between the bumper and the mattress. I wont be using my bumper!
382218 tn?1341181487 Janice Dean was on the Today Show this morning talking about her MS diagnosis a few years back and mostly talked about the support she's gotten from her husband. Since being dx'ed she has gotten married and had two kids, and cotinues her job as a meteorolist for the Fox network. Dr. Nancy Sniderman was on as well. I didn't find her input very useful.
Avatar n tn The cardiologist was not at all concerned with the use of the advair but the pulmonologist is concerned that it will interfere with her heart meds. I have gone round and round with the pulmonologist and I don't want to see mom start down a path to the end. She is strong as a bull and she is getting very fed up with all of this. We live in the same town as the Mayo Clinic and I'm seriously considering a visit to that establishment. Any comments or ideas would be appreciated!
1987536 tn?1337916244 So, I used my rescue nebulizer yesterday and today with albuterol. I feel much better, but curiosity intrigued me and I started Googling about the risks of not taking meds vs taking the meds and they both blow. Now, I feel like a terrible mommy but at the same time I know my angel needs my lungs to be strong...I feel like i should?stop taking them all but am already 18 weeks...wouldn't the effects of the advair be there already if any?
Avatar n tn My husband has battled asthma now for over 20 years. 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.
Avatar n tn I had a head cold that turned into a chest cold. I cough and wheez and now my doctor said it's asthma. Can I suddenly get asthma if I've never had it before. I'm on Advair which is temporarily helping me, but I'd like to cure this cough and get rid of it.
Avatar f tn History: Asthma, taking albuterol & have been prescribed Advair in the past. Recurrent bronchitis. 2001 - Hemoptysis diagnosed through bronchoscope as cryptococcus infection, treated with fluconazole(sp) for 6 months. 2 years worth of follow xrays showed clear chest. Oct 2008 - underwent cardiac stress test & ct scan for chest tightness, heart OK but they did find a small 5-6mm nodule in the mid anterior left lung. Scheduled for 6 month follow up ct.

Avatar f tn Then later I started getting night sweat real bad. So I decided to stop taking this Advair a few days ago. But today I am in terrible sweat and having low blood pressure and 35.4 C temp. Do you think it has to do with withdrawl? I am a 67 year old female using estrogen patches for many years. And I never get this kind of night sweat. Do you know if these symptoms will last awhile? I even called the Estrogen patch company thinking may be there was a problem with them.
Avatar f tn In November 2015, I had a really bad allergic reaction to a coworkers perfume and had a very difficult time recovering from it. In February 2016, my doctor prescribed Advair 250/50, once a day and Singulair 10mg at bedtime. Since I've been taking the medication, I have experienced upper respiratory tract infections, sinus infections, rash (bumps on chest and shoulders), blurred vision and extreme hoarseness. My voice was limited to a slight wisper smh.
