Advair side effects in kids

Common Questions and Answers about Advair side effects in kids

advair

Avatar f tn I was taking that dosage. As time went by I developed very serious adrenal fatigue, sometimes so bad that I couldn't walk. Cortisol levels were very high. I was treated for it with only moderate success. But there was a more serious side effect that I was not aware of. For the last two years my lung health was declining seriously and I honestly did not think I would make it through the coming winter. I assumed that the COPD was progressing at an alarming rate.
Avatar n tn They are very very scary. Could this be a side effect of Advair. Also, my son is not consistant in taking the medication. Are there side-effects from this med when you don't take it everyday.....twice a day?
Avatar m tn Afterthought. In place of Advair I use natural anti-inflammatories and mucolytics. Works well and no side effects.
Avatar n tn A similar drug, Formoterol (Combined with the inhaled steroid, Budesonide, in the drug Symbicort) while in the same class, might not have the same properties and perhaps might not exhibit the same cardiac stimulatory effect as Serevent. You might want to discuss this with your doctor. Another approach might be to avoid these two combination drugs, Advair and Symbicort, and substitute individual inhalert for each of the two drugs (the inhaled steroid and the beta-agonist).
Avatar f tn I was having the same side effects, switched to dulera and have very few side effects, only stomach acid which is treatable. Glad you're feeling better.
Avatar n tn Having been on Advair for one year, I now have "frogs" in throat which causes me - a singer - to lose my voice when singing low notes. The Advair was discontinued and I am now on Symbicort which, I am afraid, is causing the same problem. Is there a simple "home remedy" for this problem? Thank you.
5037123 tn?1362663006 One idea is to google - possible side effects of Advair. Possible side effects of Symbicort. See if one of the side effects of either Advair or Symbicort is pain between the shoulder blades. Based on what you find out, I would have a conversation with your doctor. Only a suggestion. I'm sure there are other asthma medications besides Advair and Symbicort which may be a better match for you. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I would talk to your doctor about the side effects - advair has some nasty side effects that can be serious depending on age, health, other medications etc. There can be cardiac related things going on related to the medication or simple heartburn from it but it's better safe than sorry.
Avatar n tn About advair i read in mens health june that advair is one of 8 drugs doctors would not take themself. It said it could make your asthma deadly. The FDA taged advair with a black box warning the agencys highest caution level.New strategy,no matter what you may have heard,aLABA,such as the one in Advair,is not your only option.mild asthma,an inhaled corticosteroid such as flovent is often all you need.
757137 tn?1347196453 Advair has a steroid in it, which can cause hair growth, etc. I took Advair for my COPD briefly. I simply did not like the side effects that it seem to give me.
Avatar m tn I have been on Advair for one week. It has completely taken my taste and smell ability away. I am not going to take it any more, but will my taste and smell senses return with time? This discussion is related to advair discus side effect.
Avatar f tn Guess what - they work better than Advair, are cheaper (even though not covered by insurance) and have no side effects. I also take Zyrtec (an over-the-counter antihistamine) or Benadryl. Advair has a good PR program, with side effects given short shrift.
Avatar n tn I have looked up the side effects of both Singulair and Advair. It seems that both can cause skin issues. I just know that he's been using the Advair all along with no problems but once he started the Singulair the itching returned. Now I will have to say that the past two days have been better. Maybe his body needed to adjust? Dunno.
Avatar n tn This was one (of many) side effects I suffered with Advair. I was producing high levels of cortisol which led increasingly to disabling panic attacks. The short-term solution was small doses of Xanax. I also was put on Travacor which inhibits the excitory neurotransmitters. Ultimately I had to get off Advair because of yet more serious side effects. It is unfortunate that my pulmonary specialist (an HMO hack) neither recognized nor solved any of these problems.
757137 tn?1347196453 adrenal fatigue, panic attacks, excess mucus (difficulty in expelling because of dryness), sinus headaches, coughing and choking. If I had stayed on this poison I would not have mde it through the coming winter. I will look up Symbicort and Oxeze, neither of which I have ever taken. I tried Spiriva once for a few days, but found it drying. That may because I was also on Advair at the time,so may try again. Thank you for your suggestions.
Avatar n tn These symptoms are most often seen with the ingestion of oral steroids but can occur with inhaled steroids such as the Fluticasone, a component of Advair These side effects are much less likely to occur with the use of an inhaled steroid but there is a wide range of individual patient sensitivity to these drugs and, thus, it is appropriate to suspect the Advair.
Avatar m tn A note about your phlegm problems. From using the emphysema medications one can develop thrush (a fungal infection). This no doubt extends to the lungs. Antibiotics and prednisone are marvelous food for fungi. They love it. So what do you do to help yourself.... Mucomyst is back on the market. That will dissolve the phlegm and has a neutral ph, unlike stuff like Spiriva which is acid. (Fungi thrive in an acid environment.) Also you might want to take a potassium iodide supplement.
Avatar m tn I don't know if these are symptoms of a condition or side effects of some of my meds, so can someone help? I take Norvasc, Altace, Lexapro, Crestor, AndroGel, Doxycycline Hyclate, and Advair 250/50. I have been on the first 4 for years. The last 3 have been added within the last several months. I also have Severe Sleep Apnea, but I use my APAP religiously. AHI is usually <4, but will on ocassion sneak up to 5.
Avatar m tn You might want to read up on the side effects of Advair. There has been a movement away from the use of inhaled steroids. I stopped using Advair almost four years ago.after developing serious side effects. My condition actually improved when I got off it. You might be interested to know that inhaled steroids do not reduce mortality. I tried Spiriva but found it very drying and had to stop using it.
Avatar n tn Since Advair does contain an LABA, it was included in the warning. They are safe when used in combination with inhaled steroids as in Advair and other combination meds. Another contributing factor to the warning is that many people try to use combination meds like Advair as a rescue medication. The LABA takes far too long to take effect to use for that purpose. You need a fast acting rescue inhaler. Here is a link to a doctor's interpretation of the warning. http://okallergy.
Avatar f tn My ob took me off advair. She said the effects are not know so there fore it's not safe in pregnancy. I only use my ventolin rescue and prednisone when I have an attack. My asthma is very bad but I have been getting by without the advair. Maybe you should talk to your ob. No controller inhaler is safe during pregnancy.
757137 tn?1347196453 If one applies common sense in using supplements there is no danger of side effects. On the internet I have found frightening accounts by people going the supplement route. One maniac was supplementing with iodine. Fine, I have to do that myself for hypothyroidism. But he was taking 9 drops of Lugol's a day! A one-way trip to a slab. (The normal dosage is between two and four drops a week, depending on weight. Somewhat more is needed for hypothyroidism.
Avatar m tn I heard that symbicort has less long term side effects but after over a year my FEV1 scores haven't improved at all on it
975514 tn?1324997938 The effects of steroids on individuals varies, not to mention the reason they are being prescribed them. Way more variable than you are acknowledging. Unless you are a doctor, please do not tell people not to take this. People could wind up in the hospital, even die from quitting steroids cold turkey. - I am a registered respiratory therapist who has intubated and terminally extubated people who took this kind of advice.
Avatar f tn what are the side effects to baby? i have no choice..we had to weigh out the risks to the benefits...just curious what your experiences are?
Avatar n tn When steroid side effects occur, they may linger for weeks or even months after the medicine has been stopped.
Avatar f tn I am using Beta2 agonists. I don't have much side effects. I get mild head aches some times.
