Advair rinse mouth

Common Questions and Answers about Advair rinse mouth

advair

Avatar n tn Do you have white stuff in the back of your throat? Advair may cause a fungus to grow if you do not rinse your mouth and throat after use. If you have a fungus, you will need to see your doctor.
Avatar f tn I little known fact about Advair is that only ~16% makes it to the lungs where you want it. The rest of it sits in your mouth and throat, therefore, it is very important to rinse and gargle after each use. The drug which is good in the lungs, is bad in the mouth and throat. It can cause fungal infections, hoarseness, and temporary loss of voice. You may need to have a throat culture done to make sure you do not have a fungal infection.
Avatar f tn I am sure that you have been rinsing your mouth well after using the Advair, or you would have thrush already. That is the worst that can happen with inhaled steroids. The doses are SO much smaller than oral steroids and they go directly where they are used that there are no associated systemic side effects. The long term benefits would be a reduction of the inflamation in your lungs. After a while, you may talk to your dr about using Advair 250/50 instead.
Avatar f tn If I stop using it a few days my voice comes back. My Doctor told me to gargle, which I do when I rinse my mouth. I have also tried using biotene moisturizing mouth spray as well as the cream. Nothing seems to help. My employer is always asking when this is going to change. I want my voice back. Do you have any suggestions.
5037123 tn?1362663006 My doctor has prescribed Pulmicort which I take 2 times a day. You have to rinse your mouth after you take Pulmicort. I also take something called Bricanol which is also an inhaler which my doctor told me to use as needed. I've seen commercials for Advair. The commercials state that not everybody is a candidate for Advair. One idea is to google - possible side effects of Advair. Possible side effects of Symbicort.
Avatar f tn make sure you take out any dentures before using your inhaler and rinse well with water..here is the magic...after ringing, rinse your mouth with white vinegar. It kills the thrush...don't use apple cider vinegar because sugar feeds the thrush. It burns at first because of the thrush sores but as you heal, it quits...I started gargling with it as well which creates som going down my throat which cured the hoarseness.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry to hear about the problem your son is having with thrush. I started on Advair last year, and my nurse practitioner told me before I ever went on it to rinse my mouth thoroughly after using it to prevent thrush. Don't know if that helps or not, but wanted to mention it.
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
Avatar f tn m, constantly having to take Fluconazole tablets after a round of antibiotics for candidiasis under my breasts and in my mouth. I always rinse my mouth after any inhalers or the spriva handihaler either with water or mouthwash. Usually both. I also use Clotrimazole 10 mg troche up to 5 times daily for the thrush in my mouth. I am so frustrated as I feel like the spriva is helping my breathing but I am miserable.
Avatar n tn The reason im wondering is because alot of times certain inhalers will mess with your tongue such as making it numb and swollen, making it wierd colors, or sometimes even ooze out puss and phlem, A few of the inhalers that will do this unless you rinse your mouth out after every actuation are, Combivent, Flovent, ADVAIR or even some nose sprays that hit the back of your tongue. Let me know...Peace!
Avatar n tn it seems like advair is making my asthma worse. i started taking advair like 7 month ago and it seemed like for the first few months it was working but i had to become dependant on it everyday or else i would start weezing nonstop. after that my weezing was worst than ever and i started noticing that after i used advair my weezing was much worse. i saw this thread yesterday and now for a day and a half i havent used it and i feel alot better.
1425157 tn?1311651679 And as far as I know, inhaled steroids pretty much stay in the lungs (and throat and mouth which is why you rinse your mouth). I don't think much, if any, goes systemic like taking prednisone.
Avatar f tn Every time I use that stuff I get thrush even tho I rinse my mouth with saltwater! I also noticed it makes me cough! Anyone else have these problems?
Avatar f tn many respitory diseases involving the use of inhalers and rescue inhalers make your mouth so dry that they cause gingivitus, even if you rinse and spit after taking a dose. i always had decent teth not perfect as i was born before flouride was put into local water supplies, but good and i kept up on them . but within 1 year or a little more of using inhalers like advair, spiriva and asmanex my teeth started breaking at the gum line due to gingivitus and i needed new teeth.
Avatar f tn The antibiotics alone will predispose you thrush, the steroid in the Symbicort will also . Do you rinse your mouth after each use? I find that if I don't do this, I too get thrush. Simply rinsing my mouth after each use prevents the yeast from coming back. Taking probiotics because you are on antibiotics isn't a bad idea either, or eating yogurt with active cultures. Also, are you able to just leave a message with your doctor and have the medicine called in to the pharmacy?
Avatar f tn I have COPD and I can tell you, you get colds and infections much easier. Advair will cause thrush. Rinse well and eatting yogurt can help. There is no cure for COPD, but with proper meds, nutrition, and exercise. Has your Alphas been checked, there is a gene that can cause COPD even if you haven't smoked.
Avatar n tn I have followed the instructions and rinse my mouth after each use, I have gargled with various throat medicines and mouth wash, I have sucked on hard candy to produce excess saliva etc and nothing works. I am a stage actor and singer as well as receptionist for the company I am with and this has seriously interfered with my work. I also take Asmol, but this doesn't have any side effects. Is there some other kind of preventive asthma medication that I could take instead of the Seretide?
Avatar n tn Hi, You could be having the oral thrush or candida infection due to the steroid inhaler medications too. You should rinse your mouth or do a mouthwash regularly afer you use a steroid inhaler. This would help with your symptoms. Also, use candida mouth paint for some time and see if it helps. It would be good to consult a chest specialist or pulmonologist too, for your symptoms. Do you use a spacer device when using your inhaler medications?
Avatar m tn I was dx a few months back. Take advair twice a day (was taking singulair too, but it gave me a headache) & take aciphex daily for gerd. the aciphex has helped w/ the coughing some, but i still cough a good bit...sometimes to the point of dizziness. If I laugh, I cough. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn T GET THRUSH, I DID RINSE MY MOUTH AND THROAT AFTER EACH USE, BUT IT REALLY DID A NUMBER ON MY THROAT, I WAS ABOUT TO GO CRAZY, BUT THANK GOD IT SEEMS THAT THE DULERA WAS THE CULPRIT, BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY THING I DID DIFFERENT, SO I JUST HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE ELSE WHO WAS EXPERIENCING MY SYMPTONS.
Avatar f tn Why not just rinse with water? Its neutral and would wash away the acid anyways? I don't see the benefit in it necessarily. I was just wondering why it was recommended cause I've never prescribed/recommended it before. I actually have never heard of it before but it doesn't necessarily mean its a bad thing though.
Avatar f tn I have been cautious about creating any sort of quick, drastic, pressure change in my mouth but now, I wonder about the use of my Advair diskus. I take Advair on a regular basis for asthma and have refrained from using it in the 24 hours post-extraction because I figured the quick inhalation may dislodge the clots. Now, however, it has been two days post-extraction, and I wonder whether it is safe to use Advair without risk of dislodging the clots.
Avatar f tn m on Zyrtec, Singulair, Benadryl, Advair, Flonase, Astelin, Mucinex and STILL have drainage and chest/nasal congestion. Feeling rundown and tired and want to get over this. This is the second time I've been through somethine like this in 2011. Any advice would be appreciated.
