advair long term effects

Can long term use of Advair cause bruising? I have been on 500/50 for two years in the summer months and 250/50 the remainder of the year. I am bruising easily and believe it may be a long term side effect for using Advair.

I heard that symbicort has less long term side effects but after over a year my FEV1 scores haven't improved at all on it

This was one (of many) side effects I suffered with Advair. I was producing high levels of cortisol which led increasingly to disabling panic attacks. The short-term solution was small doses of Xanax. I also was put on Travacor which inhibits the excitory neurotransmitters. Ultimately I had to get off Advair because of yet more serious side effects. It is unfortunate that my pulmonary specialist (an HMO hack) neither recognized nor solved any of these problems.

The combination medications which include inhaled steroids and a long acting broncho dilater like Advair, Symbicort and Dulera are standard treatments for all forms of COPD. They are also used to treat asthma which cannot be controlled on inhaled steroids alone. Have a blessed New Year.

Flovent appears to be a steroid only. They don't work quickly like albuterol. They're for long term use and can cause some annoying problems like thrush (candidiasis). But they come with instructions on how to use them so you can avoid that. That's what I meant when I said my asthma gets out of control (the albuterol isn't clearing it up), then I use the steroid inhaler for a few weeks. No fun but it eventually gets my lungs back to normal.

I developed asthma at age 11 and because my dad and brother were already suffering by that time, I was basically just put on the medications they were using. I've been using advair now for 16 years. The last 9 or so I've sought alternative healing solutions, have been given breathing exercises, physical exercises, diet tips, acupuncture, salt inhalers...nothing has worked for me so far.

Steroids are often worse than the disease it treats. Advair almost killed me. By the way, steroids harm your immune system. And - reputable doctors are no long using Adviar 500. And in Februrary the FDA came out with a warning about Advair. They said it should only be used when nothing else worked and, even then, it should only be used short term. Maybe you need another doctor.

I am supposed to take advair 250/50 twice a day. I have not been taking it because it is so expensive. I took it the last couple of days because I was having a hard time with fatigue. I took it and man I felt great! Now I got thrush again! Every time I use that stuff I get thrush even tho I rinse my mouth with saltwater! I also noticed it makes me cough! Anyone else have these problems?

s dopamine structure and that i will never be happy again or feel as good as before i began the drug use. can anybody tell me what some of the long-term effects maybe and weather i will be able to fully recover. i dont know if these are possible long term effects of the drugs or something else. everyone keeps saying im having anxiety attacks but these feelings come when i am calm and seem very serious. if anyone has any advice on whats going on ,whether drug related or not,, or any advice on good doctors to go to PLEASE let me know immediatly.

BUT, I have to take it or I am in pain. So try not to worry so much about the long term effects when you are trying to survive today. If you are worried about this I would talk to my doctor and let them know what you are experiencing and there may be something they can do differently. Just dont stop any seizure med without a doctors help. Hope you feel better..

I have no symptoms and feel great; I am 54 and wondering if HEP C would kill me or if the treatment could cause long term effects that could ruin my health. The longest living male in my family was my father 86 and had slow progressive dementia the last 10 years.

Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? Hello, I am a 26 year old female who never smoked and has no history of asthma in the family. For the past 9 months, I've been experiencing a mild shortness of breath, sometimes accompanied by a sharp (and sometimes dull) pain on the left side of my chest just above the breast. I've noticed the sharp pains from time to time when I inhale deeply or when I exhale fast and hard. Other than that, I don't wheeze or cough like many asthmatics do.

If you find that you do experience difficulty breathing with exercise, you can use your rescue inhaler as a preventative treatment. Take 2 - 3 puffs about 20 minutes before you begin exercising. This does prevent people from having problems unless they are in a flare. My friends usually will tone down their exercise routine accomodate the severity of the flare.

They are standard treatment for COPD and perfectly safe for that disease. The problem comes in when they are used long term for asthma, and them mainly when no inhaled steroid is used. The only people who have had a problem with these meds are asthmatics. It is not clear exactly what the problem is, but some believe that it is inappropriate use of the medication - ie using it as a rescue inhaler. The medications you are on are apropriate for COPD.
