advair killing people

I usually use advair diskus for my asthma but I no longer have insurance and I can't affor to pay for it? Is there another medication I can use that is not so expensive?

To summarize, it was not emphysema that was killing me; it was Advair. Those around me will attest to that. One daughter even said it was as though I had been reborn.

it seems like advair is making my asthma worse. i started taking advair like 7 month ago and it seemed like for the first few months it was working but i had to become dependant on it everyday or else i would start weezing nonstop. after that my weezing was worst than ever and i started noticing that after i used advair my weezing was much worse. i saw this thread yesterday and now for a day and a half i havent used it and i feel alot better.

From my reading, the Advair is a standard medication for people that really do have asthma, but it seems to be doing me little good, and the Proventil just seems to put a bad taste in my mouth for the most part. I can't find any pattern in my environmental exposure to attempt to locate a trigger, and I've even dropped smoking entirely, all to no avail.

m posting this to let people know that quitting Advair can be rough for the first few days, but it DOES get better. I recommend quitting on a Friday, so you'll have recovered from the withdrawal by Monday and the start of the work week.

My fev1 was 56% pre and went up 24% post. My pulmo put me on Advair 250/50 twice daily. In the beginning it made me feel better but now I have constant side affects. I have dealt with thrush I don't know how many times and I always wash my mouth out and make sure that i drink something afterwards to clear the residue from my throat. The warnings that come with Advair say that people with Thyroid disease shouldn't take it. I am a sever asthmatic on 8 medications, but I also have Graves disease and had my thyroid killed. Therefore, I take Amour Thyroid. What is the problem with Advair and thyroid disease? My mother and brother who have hypothyroidism are also on Advair.

I have the same problem. My doc had me on 250/50 2 times daily. It became a problem for me becuase I am sensitive to medications. I don't like feeling jittery because it freaks me out LOL. I stopped using it and then just Sunday, had an asthma attack. Now I'm using my inhaler and will have to start back on it. THE SOLUTION: My doc understood my concern about Advair. He said to take it once in the morning or afternoon regularly.

Yes..Advair is horrible for you. It brings your immune system way down. If you can go without it, I suggest you do so. I have meneire's diseases and I believe it was caused by the advair. My sister is on the Advair and has a constant sore throat but she can't breath very well without it. She could breath better before she was on advair. At first, you feel great on Advair. After a few months, for a lot of people, your health is worse.

Can long term use of Advair cause bruising? I have been on 500/50 for two years in the summer months and 250/50 the remainder of the year. I am bruising easily and believe it may be a long term side effect for using Advair.

Beware of Advair, Serevent, or any inhaled steroid. MD's are cavalier about putting people on these dangerous drugs, sometimes prescribing them for minor asthma problems or mild chronic bronchitis. These drugs can affect adrenal function, causing fatigue, anxiety and panic attacks. They can worsen your symptoms, making you think your ailment is progressing. What took me off them permanently (in addition to adrenal fatigue) was that they were causing me to choke (a frightening experience).

I take inhaled steroids and xolair shots but I still need to use albuerol 4 times the days I swim and about 2 times every day. I don't swim. My doc says I'm taking all the advair, Qvar I can take. I am 75. I don't see how the pulmonologist and I can change the meds. Heart is good. Any ideas?

I never really believed that I had severe asthma but had been put on advair many years ago. Recently I was switched from advair to Wixela as a generic replacement. After only two Puffs off of this I began coughing. I researched Mylan pharmaceutical and the reviews were very poor. I also read the reviews of people who had been switched to this generic and people were really suffering. I told my doctor I would not take it. Her mistake was not looking into it to see why I was switched.

Hubby would like to know what the difference ( aside from price ) is between advair and symbicort. Advair is $176/month...but he could get symbicort for less than $50/month. Because of the price difference he would like to ask his doctor about changing it. Think his lung specialist would go for that if he asked? Are there any other inhalers that are similar to advair?

My guess would be if it is day 5 without the inhalers, then they should be out of your system. I too had problems with Advair and Spiriva. I was diagnosed in Oct. 07 with moderate COPD. Steroids are often worse than the disease it treats. Advair almost killed me. By the way, steroids harm your immune system. And - reputable doctors are no long using Adviar 500. And in Februrary the FDA came out with a warning about Advair. They said it should only be used when nothing else worked and, even then, it should only be used short term. Maybe you need another doctor.
