1515545 tn?1291395764 m spending close to $200 a month for meds and vitamins. That includes 6 puffs of advair MDI a day - inhaler lasts 20 days (~$120), singulair - one package is 30 days ($40), ventolin 2-4 puffs a day - lasts 50 days ($7), atrovent ~6 puffs a week (forget how much, probably $10-14) plus the vitamin D, NAC, omega 3s, calcium and B complex that my respiralogoist recommended which cost roughly $80 a month.
Avatar n tn I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my moderate severe copd, I have just started Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I cutdown on the combivent ?
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
746512 tn?1388807580 I'd say it's the increased triggers. Advair can definitely be pricey. Might look into other long-acting beta agonists. Serevent is the LABA that is in Advair (Formoterol is available as Foradil. Salmeterol is the LABA in Advair). It's basically Flovent and Serevent in one Discus or inhaler. Symbicort is another combination steroid/LABA (Pulmicort + Formoterol). I don't know if any combination of those options would be better from a price perspective.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed in Oct. 07 with moderate COPD. Was put on Advair, Spiriva and ProAir as my rescue inhaler. After being on the Advair and Spiriva for several months, I began to become ill. Spent the sickest winter of my life, while on these inhalers. Bronchitis, pneumonia and pleurisy that was so painful for 3 months. I was doing okay before the inhalers. At least not sick all the time. Then, I went off the inhalers. Personally, I said heck with them.
370736 tn?1247242917 I have asthma and use inhaler (long acting and short acting) and Singulair. My pulmonary doc and OB said they're fine to use in pregnancy. I have been using my inhaler a lot more during pregnancy and I'm pretty sure it's because we are now breathing for 2 and our blood flow (which carries oxygen) is going for 2.
Avatar m tn I got in to see my doctor and he said it was probably asthma and gave me an Advair inhaler to use if this ever happens again. A month later I had a similar episode and I used the inhaler and it didnt seem to help. At least not soon enough. My symptoms eventually subsided. I went back to the doc and he ordered a chest xray, blood tests and heart tests which all came back ok.
Avatar f tn I'm a little concerned. I'm being treated for asthma--Advair 250/50, Albuterol recue inhaler--but I have no cough or wheezing. Just chest tightness and pressure pain.
Avatar n tn My husband has battled asthma now for over 20 years. 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.
Avatar f tn so after my discharge at hosp my treatments were breathing machine with 2 medications in it...high doses of steroids(prednisone) for weeks..inhaler and advair. shortly after i went off the steroids i felt great. so i was just using my puff inhaler and advair. then a couple weeks later i find out i am pregnant so i stop the advair (category c ). i know stupid. now i am about 22 weeks pregnant and my athsma had been horrible using puff inhaler 3-4 times a day.
1679876 tn?1304743615 My son has severe asthma and uses a separate steroid inhaler (Flovent) and uses his ventolin inhaler for emergencies.
Avatar n tn I have the same problem. My doc had me on 250/50 2 times daily. It became a problem for me becuase I am sensitive to medications. I don't like feeling jittery because it freaks me out LOL. I stopped using it and then just Sunday, had an asthma attack. Now I'm using my inhaler and will have to start back on it. THE SOLUTION: My doc understood my concern about Advair. He said to take it once in the morning or afternoon regularly.
Avatar m tn I take Advair for allergies, cat, moulds, dust and Dr.said i have sinus drip that causes me to cough a lot.Inhaler helped, but now i find i am losing my voice.I had a sore throat for 2 weeks, now my voice is very weak, only whisper, and some flem at back of throat at times. If i talk normal cracky and difficult for 2 weeks now.Sometimes i feel inhaler is causing my voice problems or both?
212161 tn?1599427282 I use advair twice a day and combivent when my asthma kicks in and i don't notice much racing when i use em
Avatar n tn Do you have a rescue inhaler? Using a rescue inhaler regularly, about every 3 - 5- hours will help open the airways so that the mucus can be expelled more easily. You are taking an expectorant (guaifenesen (Mucinex)). Pseudofed may be helpful, but it keeps me awake. Lots and lots of water would be beneficial. The Advair will help with the congstion in time as inflamation causes mucus production. It might take a while for the steroid in it to start working though.
Avatar f tn My situation is similar to yours. I was diagnosed moderate a year ago, given advair and emergency inhaler. Do not use them because they are very expensive and like you my hubby too lost his insurance thru the employer and now we cannot get any cause of preexisting conditions. Truly, I dont see how it can get any worse. If they do not do something, we dead! And no one cares.
Avatar f tn He is an asthmatic who is now on his 3rd type of inhaler (not counting his nebulizer), and his 3rd type of anti-fungal med. We have been to his pediatrician, pulmonologist, ENT, and allergist/immunologist in addition to multiple lab work and cultures of the area. I am a nurse and know my "stuff" pretty well. Still, there is thrush. Most likely (I've been told) it is caused from inhaler/med use, but did not go away while on the nebulizer and Nystatin.
Avatar f tn when i was training for half marathon last year, i had shortness of breath, so extensive testing of my lungs was done and i was told due to 20 plus years of asthma small airways in my lungs have narrowed and i was put on Advair 132/21 hfa inhaler. it helped open up my lung and i was told by more than one doctor to take this inhaler every day like people take blood pressure medicine everyday. so I did that ( i was on a blood pressure medicine too at the time 20mg of benicar).
Avatar f tn They said my lung function is fine (although it said lung age 70 yrs), that I had asthma and am now on Advair 250/50 2x with rescue inhaler. I also have always had allergies but not to where it affected my breathing till now. I use the Advair but it doesn't seem to do much unless I 'd really have a problem if I wasn't using it I don't know. just recently started using my rescue inhaler pretty much daily. It doesn't seem to do much either. My chest hurts most of the time.
Avatar n tn My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. I understand that Advair causes heart palpitations. Since I'm already having trouble with my heartbeat, I'm afraid to try the Advair.
Avatar m tn s asthma being out of controll, resulting in several trips to the emergency room yearly, we found advair. It has worked wonders for him. If you want to try it, have your doctor presecribe it to you and then you can go here: http://www.advair.com/index.html. There is a printable coupon to get your first 1 month supply for free. After that you can go back each month and print a coupon for a savings as well. He has been under controll now for the last 2 years.
Avatar n tn 1) Because we havent thought of a CT-scan and 2) Because we can note the Spirva inhaler and the Advair 250/50 as possible treatments.
Avatar f tn Thank u very much.which inhaler u r using now.i am using combitide50.
Avatar f tn My asthma is very bad but I have been getting by without the advair. Maybe you should talk to your ob. No controller inhaler is safe during pregnancy.
