advair

Avatar m tn why do i cough up blood? my dr. has tried to explain it to me, something about air ways, air vents, etc. i do this the majority of the time maybe 2 days in between doing so. sometimes it's bright red and then sometimes a darker pink. i have 50% breathing capacity and am on oxygen. it's real scary even though i've been told not to worry about it. i take advair and spiriva and don't cough up that much but when i do and it is very little.
Avatar f tn What Spiriva is a a capsule that you place in the device for delivery of the medicine. You place the capsule in a hole inside then when you close the top and press a button a little nail shaped metal piece stabs a hole in the capsule. You blow all of your breath out slowly then suck in slowly while it delivers a little at a time to your lungs. It really works to cut down on coughing because all that phleum doesn't come up like it use to.
Avatar n tn My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. I understand that Advair causes heart palpitations. Since I'm already having trouble with my heartbeat, I'm afraid to try the Advair.
Avatar m tn coughing phlegm from lungs for the past six months, have taken antibiotics with no results, did take predrisone together with SPIRIVA 18 mcg and ADVAIR 500/50 for the past month. Still coughing up phlegm and have limited lung capacity. Any suggestions comments.
Avatar n tn I dont have productive coughs anymore after stopping the advair. It seems the advair was making the mucous come up like crazy. I am seeing a doctor in a couple of days to get a pft without the advair.
Avatar f tn You may also, as the pulmonologist suggested have asthma. If you do,your lung function should improve in responsie to the Advair and the rescue inhaler, but there are no guarantees. You stated that your "chest hurts". Chest pain is not a symptom of chronic lung disease, be it asthma or COPD, so your doctors should try to determine what else might be causing your pain.
Avatar n tn What you describe is probably being caused by the inhaled steroid (ICS) in these 2 preparations fluticasone in the Advair® and budesonide in the Symbicort®. And, it may be dose related, so that the first step would be for you and your doctor to consider reducing the strength of the ICS. You may be able to get optimum therapeutic benefit, with diminished side-effects, at the lower dose.
Avatar n tn other than sinus rinse, can you all recommend some other type of medications that i can use instead of advair that gets rid of inflamation? im gonna call the pulmanologist in a couple days. i know hes gonna recommend that i stay on advair but i want to get an idea about whats been working with other people so i can mention it to him.
Avatar n tn Since Advair does contain an LABA, it was included in the warning. They are safe when used in combination with inhaled steroids as in Advair and other combination meds. Another contributing factor to the warning is that many people try to use combination meds like Advair as a rescue medication. The LABA takes far too long to take effect to use for that purpose. You need a fast acting rescue inhaler. Here is a link to a doctor's interpretation of the warning. http://okallergy.
Avatar f tn I have been cautious about creating any sort of quick, drastic, pressure change in my mouth but now, I wonder about the use of my Advair diskus. I take Advair on a regular basis for asthma and have refrained from using it in the 24 hours post-extraction because I figured the quick inhalation may dislodge the clots. Now, however, it has been two days post-extraction, and I wonder whether it is safe to use Advair without risk of dislodging the clots.
Avatar f tn There won't be any problems coming off of the advair, it isn't absorbed into the bosy like prednisone. If you can limit your ventolin use to 1-2 times a week during the winter then you don't need to be on an inhaler at all during that time. Otherwise you can try flovent is the only part of the advair inhaler that helps with inflammation. If your asthma increases a lot during spring-summer you may need advair at that time and that time only.
Avatar f tn Steroids are often worse than the disease it treats. Advair almost killed me. By the way, steroids harm your immune system. And - reputable doctors are no long using Adviar 500. And in Februrary the FDA came out with a warning about Advair. They said it should only be used when nothing else worked and, even then, it should only be used short term. Maybe you need another doctor.
Avatar n tn I used it for about four weeks before I decided to quit it cold turkey, as I gained a lot of weight from the steroids and have never weighed so much in my life. The day after I quit it I got really bad withdrawal symptoms--particularly, my asthma became the WORST it's ever been in my life. My chest felt as if it had concrete poured into it. It got so bad that I was waking up every couple of hours and couldn't get any sleep.
Avatar m tn I was given Advair and Singulair for an allergy problem that was causing asthma symptoms. I had used Advair in the past with no side effects. I lost my sense of smell and taste almost immediately. I could only taste sweet and salty, and could not smell at all. I stopped taking both of the new drugs and got on the internet to find answers. When I saw that others had lost smell and taste with Advair I contacted my doctor and pharmacist.
Avatar n tn I had it under control to the point where i didnt need to take advair anymore but recently ive been having the symptoms again, so ive started back taking the advair that was prescribed to me when i first got it. is that ok?
Avatar m tn Considerations In 2008, a joint medical panel of members from the American Diabetes Association and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes released a statement advising against the use of GSK's diabetes medication, Avandia. This came one year after public charges of cardiac and liver safety were leveled against GlaxoSmithKline regarding the drug. GSK continues to maintain that Avandia is no less a threat to the liver than its competitors.
535822 tn?1443976780 The New York Post today has said that there is a push for the 9/11 Trial to go to Govenor's Island , A lower Manhatton Community board called on fed officails yesterday to move the trail of the terrorists to Govenor's Island and passed a resolution demanding the shift, in a hearing with Downtown Residents who loathe the idea of the threats that would ensue and the lockdown it would involve, this makes sense to me , what say you ....
Avatar n tn My instinks kept telling me that it was the Advair that brought it on. I knew it when i found that Advair surpresses your amune system and i found that it has brought on major illnesses and death. I have been off Advair for 2 days and already feel better and like my happy self is coming back.
Avatar n tn Make sure you rinse your mouth after each use with Advair...that should help reduce the number of times you get thrush.
1679876 tn?1304743615 Thanks for the input-my med dr. gave me the advair for free while in his office. Will speak w/ pharmacist--Heart Dr knows of all except advair, may give him a call..Bupropion seems to keep me up, but no palpitations.
Avatar f tn Yes..Advair is horrible for you. It brings your immune system way down. If you can go without it, I suggest you do so. I have meneire's diseases and I believe it was caused by the advair. My sister is on the Advair and has a constant sore throat but she can't breath very well without it. She could breath better before she was on advair. At first, you feel great on Advair. After a few months, for a lot of people, your health is worse.
Avatar f tn They said that I likely have asthma and prescribed me with Advair 100/50 for a year. During the one month that I took Advair I was concerned about drug dependency, side effects, high costs of the drug ($180 per month), and the necessity for it since I have NEVER had an asthma attack. During the month of using Advair, I noticed my shortness of breath a little less than before, but the difference was so mild that I couldn't really tell if Advair was making a difference or not.
Avatar f tn I informed my pulmonologist who then prescribed me Advair 250/50, saying that the only reason why he prescribed Advair in the first place is because I have been admitted to the ER before. However, pharmacists were saying that Advair didn't seem necessary. Instead they recommended a scheduled dose of albuterol everyday. I have stopped Advair after the first month and my breathing or rather, shortness of breath neither improved or worsened for the two weeks.
