Advair dosage for adults

Common Questions and Answers about Advair dosage for adults

advair

Avatar n tn Hi my dosage of advair has been 100/50 for years. Several months ago, I noticed asthma symptoms returning. I saw my pulmonary doc last week and he upped advair to 250/50. How long should it take until I see a noticeable change? Also I have been having a dry cough, which I read can be a side effect of advair. Should that go away eventually?
Avatar m tn I assume you are wanting to know for sports reasons, there would be absolutely no issue with Advair on an employment test. Asthma steroids are corticosteroids. Drug testing for sports are looking for anabolic (sp?) steroids. So you will be fine. If you have been on oral prednisone, there could be a problem if you are close to a competition. You should talk this over with your dr so that they know your concerns about passing drug tests and keep you away from them.
Avatar n tn i've had asthma for a long period of time, and i was taking advair to treat it. I had it under control to the point where i didnt need to take advair anymore but recently ive been having the symptoms again, so ive started back taking the advair that was prescribed to me when i first got it. is that ok?
Avatar n tn He has always had large size pupils. The other night his pupils were pulsing from large to regular size. He is also getting over a cold at this time. I know for a fact that he doesnt do drugs, so it couldnt be that. He did have seizures when he was around 2 they lasted for about 4 months, then went away as suddenly as they started, doctors had no clue what the cause was. Is this a sign of maybe the seizure activity trying to start back up?
Avatar m tn I take an oral steroid - 8.5 mg per day - supplemented by ceretide(similar to advair) 500 - 2 puffs in the morn and 1 at night - and budesonide 160 micrograms - 2 puffs once a day. The thing with oral steroids is that the get absorbed in the body and have been adversely affecting me. I need to get off it, but every time I try to reduce the dosage my asthma tends to get worse. Can anyone offer me any advice regarding this matter?

Avatar f tn I went away for the weekend and forgot to pack my Advair, is there an over the counter medication I can take if necessary?
Avatar f tn this happened to my brother. he was on Flovent for a couple years then it stopped working and he was in and out of the ER with asthma attacks and on and off prednisone, 60 mgs for weeks at a time. the best way the dr could describe what happened was by explaining that he developed a tolerance to his Flovent and he was switched to a different inhaled preventative inhaler. He was on Asmanex or a couple years and is now on Advair.
Avatar n tn My husband has battled asthma now for over 20 years. 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.
Avatar f tn I usually use advair diskus for my asthma but I no longer have insurance and I can't affor to pay for it? Is there another medication I can use that is not so expensive?
Avatar m tn In the last year she has had her thyroid dosage upped three times. ANd when she went to the alergist Dr. for her check up, he said that her lung function improved to the point that he cut her dosage of Advair in half.
Avatar f tn Yes..Advair is horrible for you. It brings your immune system way down. If you can go without it, I suggest you do so. I have meneire's diseases and I believe it was caused by the advair. My sister is on the Advair and has a constant sore throat but she can't breath very well without it. She could breath better before she was on advair. At first, you feel great on Advair. After a few months, for a lot of people, your health is worse.
Avatar n tn For ulcer treatment, Amoxil is combined with other medications. There are several dosage regimens available, and your doctor will choose the best one for you. If your kidneys are severely impaired or you are undergoing hemodialysis, the doctor may have to adjust your dosage accordingly. Children older than 3 months: Children weighing 88 pounds and over should follow the recommended adult dose schedule. Children weighing under 88 pounds will have their dosage determined by their weight.
Avatar m tn You might want to read up on the side effects of Advair. There has been a movement away from the use of inhaled steroids. I stopped using Advair almost four years ago.after developing serious side effects. My condition actually improved when I got off it. You might be interested to know that inhaled steroids do not reduce mortality. I tried Spiriva but found it very drying and had to stop using it.
Avatar f tn Thank you both for responding to me. Actually Advair too is a steroid and that is bothersome to me for some reason. I have not used anymore. I will call the doc and make him give me something different. No sense taking it if it is going to do that stuff right out of the gate so to speak!
Avatar n tn is it safe to use spiriva and advair together my sister has had laryngitis for 4 weeks
757137 tn?1347196453 I developed serious side effects (severe bronchitis and choking) using Advair 250/50. (I had been using Advair for several years.) I started skipping the occasional dosage, then I skipped a couple of days. I tried taking it one more time and had a serious choking episode. So I stopped using it altogether. Will I suffer withdrawal, and what form will it take?

Avatar f tn Spriva which is the same type drug as Advair I believe. What Spiriva is a a capsule that you place in the device for delivery of the medicine. You place the capsule in a hole inside then when you close the top and press a button a little nail shaped metal piece stabs a hole in the capsule. You blow all of your breath out slowly then suck in slowly while it delivers a little at a time to your lungs.
Avatar n tn The combination medications which include inhaled steroids and a long acting broncho dilater like Advair, Symbicort and Dulera are standard treatments for all forms of COPD. They are also used to treat asthma which cannot be controlled on inhaled steroids alone. Have a blessed New Year.
907968 tn?1292622204 I imagine they're trained to know which medications work best for which heart problems. As for dosage, I'm not sure. If you look at a PDR the book mentions standard dosages for children, adults and geriatric folks. I know with the antibiotics I use at work we choose which antibiotic works best for which type of injury or specific bacteria. I always calculate dosage according to species (mammals have a different calculation compared to birds or reptiles) and weight.
Avatar n tn I am having trouble finding out what is a safe maximum dosage of Diamox for psuedotumor cerebri. When I had asked my daughters neurologist this question, she said there is no maximum dosage which I found hard to believe that there wouldn't be a max dose on any medication. My daughter is 15 yrs old and had been prescribed a total of 2500 mg per day divided into 3 doses. Does anyone know the max dose for diamox? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I’ve read that the average dosage for adults is 30 mg/day. I’m a 25 year old male. I weigh 220 lbs. and am 5’11”. The only other medication I’m on is 100 mg of Zoloft/day for the treatment of depression. I have no prior medical issues. What would be the appropriate dosage range for me if I were to take this medication? I’ve read that it may have negative effects on the heart. I’m considering talking with my PCP about this but am trying to find out on my own first. Would 60 mg/day be too much?
Avatar n tn Having been on Advair for one year, I now have "frogs" in throat which causes me - a singer - to lose my voice when singing low notes. The Advair was discontinued and I am now on Symbicort which, I am afraid, is causing the same problem. Is there a simple "home remedy" for this problem? Thank you.
