1679876 tn?1304743615 Hi, I urge you to talk to your doctor about maybe changing your Advair. It is a drug that has a "black box" warning. Studies are being done on this drug (google and you will find lots of info) to show that there are risks that might outweigh the benefits. There are several other medications for asthma that work well. Our EP says he would never recommend Advair to any of his patients.
Avatar n tn The FDA taged advair with a black box warning the agencys highest caution level.New strategy,no matter what you may have heard,aLABA,such as the one in Advair,is not your only option.mild asthma,an inhaled corticosteroid such as flovent is often all you need.Still wheezing, patients can also consider an inhaled corticosteroid paired with a leukotriene modifier.Hope this helps you,and doesnt worry you.

Avatar f tn You should talk with your doctor about taking advair for your asthma. Did you know that it has a black box warning concerning heart arrhythmias? Advair contains two medicines: flovent and serevent. Flovent is a corticosteroid for inflammation and serevent is a long acting bronchodialator. Serevent is the drug that can interfere with heart rhythm. When I started having symptoms in April, I stopped using Advair and now I only use Flovent.
148588 tn?1465778809 m more concerned with its other scary sides than this tumor thing, as I have none of cancers mentioned in the black box warning. But its either take procrit or reduce riba or abandon tx, so I'm choosing procrit to see if I can finish tx and clear this virus once and for all.
Avatar f tn I went away for the weekend and forgot to pack my Advair, is there an over the counter medication I can take if necessary?
Avatar f tn In my opinion, taking a drug which cures me, even though it has a black box warning, is a whole lot better than avoiding that drug and ending up in a pine box six feet under instead. However, one might be surprised at the drugs that have black box warnings. Many are very commonly taken and no one thinks twice about it.
2074233 tn?1337641615 I am a 53 year old female with copd. I have already been on antibiotics twice this year and i am coughing up so much phlegm now it's making me weak all over. I take advair, am trying the new drug dailiresp, 1mg. of klonipen and wellbutrin {even tho i have not smoked in two years}. I have applied for disability and according to the pulmonologist my fev1 is 0.97 and my diffusing capacity 9.1. Those are 35% and 38% of predicted respectively.
Avatar f tn I have a 1 year old chihuahua and we keep her clean but when we give her a bath and I change the blanket in her box and clean the box out I find little worms in the box, there will be black flakes in the box with little worms in them. Can anyone tell me what this might be.
Avatar m tn I have been taking advair 500/50 and spiriva 18mg for over a year now in combination with each other. When I get a chest infection, guess what? can't breathe. When I do not have a cold I can breathe just fine. I recently had a full physical with my family doctor and just about died when I hit the scales. He is telling me that as long as I am taking steriods (prednisone included at times) I will have weight problems.
Avatar m tn Sometimes, these things are listed on the original packaging box, so if your pharmacy distributes the meds in their orginal box (rather than puttin gthem into a bottle), you might want to look at the box yourself and see if anything is lsted. The other possibility here is that maybe he's having a side effect to the medication? Have you compared the symptoms that increase after he takes the meds to any listing of possible side effects of the med?
Avatar f tn Is it safe to stop taking Advair cold turkey when my symptoms improve or do I need to take something else to come off it slower?
Avatar n tn Can long term use of Advair cause bruising? I have been on 500/50 for two years in the summer months and 250/50 the remainder of the year. I am bruising easily and believe it may be a long term side effect for using Advair.
Avatar f tn I have been cautious about creating any sort of quick, drastic, pressure change in my mouth but now, I wonder about the use of my Advair diskus. I take Advair on a regular basis for asthma and have refrained from using it in the 24 hours post-extraction because I figured the quick inhalation may dislodge the clots. Now, however, it has been two days post-extraction, and I wonder whether it is safe to use Advair without risk of dislodging the clots.
Avatar f tn Steroids are often worse than the disease it treats. Advair almost killed me. By the way, steroids harm your immune system. And - reputable doctors are no long using Adviar 500. And in Februrary the FDA came out with a warning about Advair. They said it should only be used when nothing else worked and, even then, it should only be used short term. Maybe you need another doctor.
Avatar n tn I have had several problems with advair such as thrush and irregular heart beat. Also, my endocrinologist suggested that my osteopinia (sp?) could be related to advair use but it's just one possible culprit. I'm a runner and just finished a marathon and got thrush again from advair so decided I wanted to at least take a break from it. Well, it's been a few days and I have never had such breathing problems before I used advair, I have a constant headache and I'm exhausted.
Avatar m tn I have been on Advair for one week. It has completely taken my taste and smell ability away. I am not going to take it any more, but will my taste and smell senses return with time? Avatar n tn how do I prevent a yeast infection from advair This discussion is related to thrush from Advair.
Avatar n tn I have the same problem. My doc had me on 250/50 2 times daily. It became a problem for me becuase I am sensitive to medications. I don't like feeling jittery because it freaks me out LOL. I stopped using it and then just Sunday, had an asthma attack. Now I'm using my inhaler and will have to start back on it. THE SOLUTION: My doc understood my concern about Advair. He said to take it once in the morning or afternoon regularly.
