Not only can it worsen asthma, but the side effects can be fatal. Other forms of treatment should be sought and, if the product is used at all, it should be for short periods of time. Advair affected my adrenals, harmed my eyes, and worsened my asthma. It caused such serious choking that I feared it would kill me. I stopped taking it last August and am doing fine on natural anti-inflammatories. This is no thanks to my pulmonologist. I had to work out my treatment for myself.

The other meds I am taking should not effect my weight. I've been on them for over a year with no problems. And most of them don't have weight gain as part of their side effects. Yes, my thyroid has been checked out . Actually my hypothyroidism was diagnosed months before I start the weight gain. I've had all the tests you can imagine. The last one left is checking my cortisol level. I should those test results back next week.

I was taking that dosage. As time went by I developed very serious adrenal fatigue, sometimes so bad that I couldn't walk. Cortisol levels were very high. I was treated for it with only moderate success. But there was a more serious side effect that I was not aware of. For the last two years my lung health was declining seriously and I honestly did not think I would make it through the coming winter. I assumed that the COPD was progressing at an alarming rate.

One idea is to google - possible side effects of Advair. Possible side effects of Symbicort. See if one of the side effects of either Advair or Symbicort is pain between the shoulder blades. Based on what you find out, I would have a conversation with your doctor. Only a suggestion. I'm sure there are other asthma medications besides Advair and Symbicort which may be a better match for you. Good luck.

My doctor swore black and blue that she had never come across a person who gained weight, and that it was more common to loose it on effexor. I was having the same side effects, switched to dulera and have very few side effects, only stomach acid which is treatable. Glad you're feeling better.

s virtually nothing that helps stop weight gain from antidepressants except stopping them, but if this is working well for you, and you really need meds, it's not easy to find ones that work well. There is a book that discusses this called The AntiDepressant Survival Guide.

My doctor recently switched me to Bystolic - and I was given "samples" for a month but no instruction sheet or counter-indications as far as drug interaction. Would there be any problem with the above that I am taking and this drug? Also, I just lost (and want to continue to lose weight) 16 pounds on a diet program and don't want to regain that weight! I just wondered why you chose to post here on a thyroid forum? Do you possibly have a problem with hypothyroidism that causes low metabolism and weight gain?

It also makes me tired which I can handle that one but not the weight gain, I have had problems with my back in the past and when I put on weight my back hurts. I have nerve pain in my face and just pain in my face, what would be the other options I can talk to the dr about today? Would another pill from that line of pills be the same? I am going to talk to him about treatment of the other pain in my face if he don't want to then send me to a pain specialist that can treat all the pain.

I have been on Lexapro several times over the last 4 years for 6 months to 2 years at a time. I am having problems with the sexual side effects and the weight gain. It's actually less of a "weight gain" than a shift in body composition. My pants are too tight and my shirts are more fitted but I haven't actually gained a pound. I am a competitive runner and haven't changed my exercise or eating habits over the last 2 years.

Depending on how old you are it could just be a weight thing. Normally early 20s you gain weight and again in mid-40s where it becomes hard to lose the weight. (I'm too lazy to check your status to see if you have your age so those things may not apply).

The rare possible side effects are weight gain, muscle weakness, mood changes/depression. My suggestion is to go back to your doctor. Say you don't want to take prednisone anymore. You could say you want to use an inhaler for your asthma instead of pills. Ask your doctor if you can take Pulmicort and Bricanyl. The weight gain no doubt is due to fluid retention which is one of the side effects. You might discuss changing drugs with your Oncologist as there are others available but keep in mind that they all have similar side effecfts even though you mjight not experience them to the same degree. I took it and could not tolerate it but it was to control a neurological disability (tardive dyskinesia) as an experimental use and what it caused in me (mania) could easily have been set off because I have the bipolar end of schizoaffective. It would not cause this for someone with depression. The other effects I had which were overeating and sedation might be more common.

The common side effects are hot flashes, abdominal bloating, weight gain, mood swings, nausea, vomiting, headaches and abnormal menstrual bleeding. I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. Weight gain though...not so much. Most people will label that (weight gain) a problem and search for a solution. If Ramipril is the most significant change in their lifestyle, that may stand out as the culprit. I went on Ramipril 1 month ago. I would talk to your doctor about the side effects - advair has some nasty side effects that can be serious depending on age, health, other medications etc. There can be cardiac related things going on related to the medication or simple heartburn from it but it's better safe than sorry.
